The Space
La Petite House is a small new building in the back of our garden. It is completely independent from our own house. But we are only a knock on a window away! It has also been described as a 'Granny Flat'!
Situated at the foot of The Mourne Mountains in a quiet residential area of Newcastle. Our little house has everything you need for an enjoyable stay.
You’ll have the run of the place, so you can live as you usually do, but in your new surroundings.
We are perfectly situated for people attending weddings in Newcastle, being no more than a 20 min walk from most hotels & a maximum of a 10 min (£4) taxi ride away from the furthest.
Guest Access
A flat screen TV with Freeview, electric shower, washing machine, WiFi & a brand new kitchen that's fully equipped with everything you need.
Ample parking outside the house or in driveway.
Travel cot & highchair on request.
Basic toiletries are provided.
Overview
We're situated at the foot of The Mourne Mountains and less than a 10 min walk to the town center, promenade & Harbour. The Royal County Down Golf Club & The Slieve Donard Hotel is a 20min walk away.
Tollymore Forest Park, 5mins drive caters for many outdoor activities including walking, horse riding and orienteering & has 4 waymarked trails of varying lengths. It also boasts panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and sea. It was also featured in the first episode of series one of Game of Thrones!!
Silent Valley and Ben Crom Reservoirs are a beautiful, inexpensive day out in the open fresh air and away from the crowds. Great cafe and good selection of walks both short and some for the more experienced.
Down Cathedral is a Church of Ireland cathedral in Downpatrick. It stands on the site of a Benedictine Monastery, built in 1183. Saint Patrick's remains are buried in the graveyard.
Discover stunning views, and the beauty of the landscape on a bike. There are many cycle routes for all abilities and tours available in the area.
Our guests can get a discount from a local Outdoor Adventure that offers everything from outdoor activities such as canoeing, mountain biking & bouldering..
Other Things to Note
Check-in time is set at from 3pm. But if there are no guest departing that morning, you can arrive at any time. If there are guests & you do arrive early, you can leave your bags with us in our house.
I've made 11 am check-out time though this is flexible if we have no one arriving that same day...
Can you please tell me how many beds need to be made up (1 or 2).
House Rules
No smoking inside the accommodation.

About the host
Hosted by The Owner/Property Manager
My partner Sophie & I have travelled to over 33 countries on 6 continents. From the Killing Fields of Cambodia to lining up to meet the Sultan of Brunei, trekking for 20 days in the magnificent Himalayas & exploring India by train (twice!) are just a few personal highlights.
We have now 2 beautiful daughters (12 & 14 years old) which will only change how we travel not stop us travelling. We still have so many beautiful places yet to explore!
We hope our travelling experiences reflect in how we have set up & how we run our little place.

Getting Around
The bus station is a 20min minute walk with links to Belfast, Dublin and elsewhere.
The Mourne Rambler Bus Service circles the Mourne Mountains in the summer months usually between the start of May and end of August.
Another great way to discover the Mournes is the Mournes Shuttle Bus Service. It can pick you up at your desired car park and take you out to the start point of your route so you can walk back to the car, meaning you will no longer be restricted to the circular routes and can explore many of the fantastic linear ones in the area also.
The shuttle service runs throughout the whole year, every weekend and can be requested during the week also. In the summer months of July and August the service will be available 7 days a week.
And Peter, the proprietor is a fountain of knowledge of the area!
