Vacation rental on the beach in Playa del Carmen, Mayan Riviera, Mexico.

This beautiful studio is a ocean front Resort & Spa that has a pool, hot tub, lounge chairs, full gym, spa, and everything else you would expect at a luxury resort. We even have real Mayan Ruins across the street!

Our guest suite includes: Queen Size Bed - Convertible Sleep Sofa - Private Bath - Kitchenette - Refrigerator - Microwave - Toaster Oven - Coffee Maker - Two Burner Hot Plate - Silverware - Dishes - Satellite TV - Free Wifi - Hair Dryer - Iron and Washer and Dryer free of charge!

The floors are all marble, and it has a cathedral ceiling, air conditioning, a safe, linens, and towels for the bath, beach and pool.

One window faces the south down the beach and ocean, and the other window faces the sunset. The views are amazing! On the beach at night you can see the lights from the island of Cozumel across the sea!

There are 2 restaurants in our place, both with full bars. One of the bars has a swim up counter in the pool. The lobby restaurant also serves a breakfast buffet in the mornings. Both restaurants serve food and beverages poolside and on the beach.

About our neighborhood:
We are in the middle of Playacar Fase 1, which is a very safe, gated, beach front neighborhood at the south end of Playa del Carmen. Playacar is divided into two phases. We live in Phase 1, which is very small and private in comparison to Phase 2. It is mostly single family houses except for one other condominium and one hotel, both of which are at the entrance to our neighborhood.

We are about a 10 minute walk along the beach to 5th Avenue, locally known as La Quinta. There you will find hundreds of restaurants. They serve everything from tacos or ceviche to French cuisine. The atmospheres range from sand-in-your-toes to high-end, fine dining, and you can spend as little or as much as you want. If you sit at one of the outdoor restaurants, you may be treated to live music by the strolling Mariachis.

The property was as advertised. Communication was excellent. Loved the location especially being within a gated community and a short 15 minute walk to town. The resort was clean, staff was friendly and the studio was clean. Appreciated the plate of fruit. Highly recommend and hopefully there is an opportunity to come back!! Really enjoyed our time.

We loved our stay! Staff was kind and amenities at Sunset Fishermen were just what we wanted. We enjoyed the walk into town and the room was spacious and quiet. Loved the fresh fruit and having a small kitchen available. The bed and pillows were a bit uncomfortable but we made do. Would stay again!

This place was just perfect for me and my wife spending our birthdays. The Condo is in a Resort in Playa Car right in front of the Ocean. Nice and Cozy with good AC. Up 3 stories up with view of ocean.

Perfect stay for our multi-generational family

My mother (80), son (4) and I - somewhere in between those numbers ;-) - stayed for a week. The beach, pool, property, and other amenities covered all of our needs. The folks at the resort are wonderful and it's just close enough to the town center to make the walk a nice little outing for us all to do everyday. The host's were extremely communicative and answered all questions we could have had before we even stepped foot on the property. We'll be back :)

Please improve the wifi. It is really poor. Need better pillows and towels for the rooms. Otherwise it is a wonderful stay at Fishermen's. The staff is superb, the beach was great.

Second Time is the Charm

I was happy that this studio condo was available for a few of us to stay in for a couple of days before we headed off to our annual yoga retreat. We had stayed in the condo two years earlier and it did not disappoint. It's HOT in Playa in May so the air conditioning was appreciated. We love that we can walk to the main part of town in just 10 minutes and enjoy good, fresh, healthy local food (tacos!). Doug and Penny are wonderful to deal with (prompt, clear communication) and Sergio is a great support to guests - very open and available. I look forward to visiting Fisherman's again in the future!

Good location

The condo was perfect for the two of us. Just a short walk to town we’re everything is readily available. Short walk to peer to catch the ferry to Cozumel. The place is on the third floor so it has steps to walk when you get done for the day but nice location, not noisy and well kept. AC has a weird noice from time to time but when your tired it doesn’t make a difference. There is a hold of about 400 US dollars for incidentals at check in but that wasn’t bad either and they are refundable if you don’t put any charges to the room. All in all a great experience and would come back to the Sunset Fishermen for future vacations.

Playa Visit

Lovely unit; pictures did not do it justice. The complex is wonderful, friendly and helpful staff, and very friendly guests at this property. The community is charming and we felt safe with our entire family. The walks through this community were delightful! Having said all of this, our trip was ruined by a very unfortunate experience. After purchasing professional packaged headache drugs from a pharmacy, we dealt with a near fatal situation with one of our family members. So, if you are visiting Mexico, do not purchase anything from a pharmacy. Be sure to take along all your own meds. And, if you want verification on this, simply google "Mexican Pharmacies selling illicit drugs", and you will find lots of articles.

I would stay in that unit again if I can afford it.

This was my second time in this unit and was happy that the occasional neighbor was quiet and didn't slam doors. Marcial the doorman was always there to call a cab and provide ice. My 2 or 3 minor gripes are that I had to close the door to the washing machine enclosure 4 times as the noise during the spin cycle would enter my unit thru the door. . Maybe a sign on the washing door is in order. I also had to wait 35 minutes to check out as staff was in a meeting. Not sure if I will return due to the 2 high Vrbo fees and the local taxes added onto the base rental price. We shall see.

The site is stunning, beautiful and very quite but close to the “movida” . Our room in the building was comfortable and with a nice view, but it needs a good makeup: the sofa is literally loosing pieces , during a storm water entered from the ceiling. The beach and the sea are wonderful, but nobody cleaned the beach in front of the hotel and it was full of plastic , the same pieces I saw every day until I threw them away . For the dog there is absolutely NO CULTURE . The property manager Sergio is a very special person , but also Doug and Krystal were very nice and present (except for the dog matter)

Lovely location

The condo within Sunset Fisherman’s Village (small mature resort), is in a lovely location and on the beach. It is Easy biking to groceries, pharmacies, etc. The manager and her team are responsive and informative. The condo itself was ok, and we made do with the awkward set up for the kitchen. There is very little counter space in which to actually prepare meals, and freezer did not work ( they did bring us a glass ice bucket to retrieve ice). You can see the ocean from the window, but it is in bad need of serious cleaning. I will say the bed was very comfortable and once you got the shower figured out it was nice. I think it is suitable for 2 people 4 would be very tight. One suggestion would be to outline the resorts protocols re paying directly via credit card for meals vs charging to the room to avoid confusion. We ended up being double charged for meals ( both credit card and from our resort deposit) I am still working to resolve it.

Some appliance breakdowns but eventually resolved.

Normally I hate condos because of noise issues but I would return here as it is super quiet. Had to overcome many outages such as ceiling fan problems, microwave failure, LAN outage, washer and dryer breakdowns. but these were resolved fairly promptly. The weakest link is the kitchenette which barely functions. Here is my fix: 1. Ditch the sofa/bed/ mirror/ accent pillows and huge comforter. Replace bed pillows as they smell. 2. Move wardrobe to sofa space. 3. Install full size freezer/refridge in wardrobe space and build counter for appliances, water bottle, and shelves for dry goods storage 4. You now have room around the sink for food prep and washing up. I have NO complaints about the resort or staff, it was a pleasure to stay here, they are super accommodating and helpful. I have walked past the resort countless times , didn't know it was a little gem in the neighborhood.

Although I still maintain a lake house in Massachusetts, an apartment in Manhattan and an apartment in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this is my home. In addition to the local Mexicans and Mayans, you will meet people from all over the world here. We have had guests from countries like Germany, Holland, South Africa, Israel and others, as well as Mexico, the US and Canada. Everybody who comes here falls in love with the place, and I am sure you will too.

Why they chose this property

Even though I love other properties I lived at in Playa this property offers me the most peace and tranquility. It has more of a private beach than other resorts and just close enough to town when I want to venture into the excitement. The staff here is extremely friendly and very accommodating to my every need

What makes this property unique

I fell in love with this place because of the spectacular ocean right in my back yard. The powder soft sand between my toes and the multi-colored ocean waters is enough to make you not want to go home!
