The property and location is beautiful. The house is extremely well appointed and the host is amazing. Great communication and we felt very welcome. The restaurant and vineyard right next door were great and we enjoyed both. It's a lovely area and we will definitely return!
What a charming little cottage. Thanks for the delicious treats. Would love to come back again!

Wonderful, relaxing weekend
Had a lovely weekend in this cottage. The lake was crystal clear and great for swimming, the cottage is right near an inn that serves breakfast (which is quite convenient), and the surrounding area is lovely, with little towns to explore. Perfect for a getaway weekend.

Thank the "French Gang" for the way they left the cottage. Really for six people the house was left in great shape! Also how you knocked out a 1000 piece puzzle in three days tells me you achieved your goal of a relaxing vacation. Please come back and see us again.

Great location with a beautiful porch overlooking the lake. A walkable neighborhood with friendly people. Lots of small shops and restaurants a stones throw away. So quiet and relaxing.

The cottage was lovely, and perfect for a nice weekend getaway for two. The view was great, and sitting on the front porch was so relaxing. Tom was a great host and very communicative and provided everything you would want and then some! Hopefully we will be able to go back next year.
This is a well-equipped cottage with a great porch for reading, visiting and enjoying the wonderful view of Lake Waramaug. The king bed was very comfortable and the owner was prompt in replying to messages and very easy and pleasant.

This cozy cottage was perfect! It had everything we needed, including a great view of Lake Waramaug. Beds were super comfy and all linens were included. Hiking and biking trails were nearby. The Hopkins Inn and the Hopkins winery are right next door, and my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Inn and shopping at the winery's gift store.
Tom’s cottage was perfect for a short weekend away with close friends. The property was beautiful with perfect views of the lake and the foliage. The cottage was updated and had ALL the amenities to ensure your stay was exceptional. The pastries and fresh bread and butter were wonderfullly delicious and appreciated. Thank you Tom for your hospitality!

What a find!
We had such an enjoyable time at this cottage. In addition to the great layout and general great condition of the house, the main benefits included access to the beach owned by the Hopkins Inn and the convenience of having the inn and restaurant next door. We would definitely return!
This is the second time I've rented the house. It's still amazing!

Great stay, great house, great host!
Beautiful location walking distance to a great restaurant, wonderful vineyard, and practically a private beach all to yourself! What a retreat. Clean and renovated to perfection.
We loved this place. We loved the surroundings and felt as if we were a world away.
The owner was also very accommodating and extremely kind.
I would recommend this place to anyone who "wants to get away from it all", even for a weekend. We would stay again and hope to do so soon.

Peaceful cottage getaway
We stayed at Tom's cottage in July to get away from the city for some peace and quiet. The cottage was perfect for relaxing on the porch in the comfy chairs and rocking chairs with the great view of the lake and hills. Kitchen had everything we needed. We didn't grill but it seemed to have everything needed if we wanted to. Tom was great and answered every question we had. Was nice meeting you Tom! Lake was great for walking down to the beach as well as canoeing and paddle boarding. We had a great time!

Wonderful Getaway
My husband and I wanted a quick getaway where our dogs could swim. Tom’s Bliss Cottage is exactly that...blissful. It was comfortable and clean. The wonderful muffins that greeted us was a nice touch. Tom stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking, and we enjoyed chatting with him. We had my in-laws and a few friends up for a visit to sit on the porch and have some wine and cheese while taking in the view. Hopefully the diners at the Hopkins Inn didn’t mind some singing with their dinner. We would definitely recommend Tom’s cottage if you are looking for a peaceful retreat. The private beach on the lake is a short drive or walk from the cottage.

Hi, Thank You for your nice review, please come back and see us again, sorry I missed the sing along.........

Everything was as described. It was the perfect escape by the lake to decompress and enjoy the surrounding area. Host was friendly and called before the arrival date. He went over a few things and answered questions. He left some fresh bread and baked goods to enjoy and everything I needed was available. The only issue I had was with the coffee maker which just needs some maintenance.
My dogs got to come and enjoy the lake and some great walks as well. Good fishing off of the semi-private beach, 4 bass averaging 2-3 lbs., that I could land. It was difficult because of the bank, bring a net and watch for wildlife if you want to fish!
The cottage and location was exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you want to enjoy the lake and do some hiking.

Lovely place to decompress!
Pure simplicity at its best! Run the lake, hike in Steep Rock (3 preserves with a variety of trails) or enjoy the waterfront a short walking distance away. Daily kayak and paddle board rentals available at Sportsmen's in Litchfield. Area is filled with lovely dining options. Hopkins Inn next door offers three meals daily. The patio has a beautiful view of the Lake Warmaug. 9 Main in New Preston is great for breakfast/lunch sandwiches. There is also Bantam Bread, Arethusa and West Shore Seafood in Bantam (BYOB picnic style dining and warm lobster roll with butter is a must). The White Horse and Upper Crust Pizza in Marbledale/New Milford are casual options with indoor/outdoor dining. All are within 10 minutes of the house as are several area markets/wine shops. If you like antiques, Woodbury is about a 25 minute drive and on Sunday there is the Elephants Trunk Flea Market in New Milford. Tom Maguire and his family could have not been more gracious. Look forward to returning.

Cottage and grounds are nicer than pictures indicate. Owner / Property manager is responsive and helpful. Location is A+. Great getaway for a small family. Hope to visit again soon.
Our host welcomed us after a long journey from Wisconsin, with wonderful jam, and handmade baked goods to enjoy. After being away from CT. for 30 years, we totally enjoyed the cottage and its' great view. The records and turntable fit right in with our memory tour. Everything was perfect!

We could not have been more impressed with our stay at this cottage! Tom took such great care of us and we truly felt safe, clean, and comfortable during this covid-19 era. A true hidden gem that we couldn't recommend enough- Peaceful, beautiful, and with all you could need within walking distance!
