Please note: The Loft is located on the second floor above the barn and is accessible via two sets of exterior stairs.

A friendly heads-up: We share the property with our two lovable dogs who enjoy meeting guests and will be sure to greet you with wagging tails! They may bark at first, but they are friendly!

Whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat or an active getaway, this private Loft is the perfect place to experience the charm and natural beauty of Roxbury and beyond.

We’re a family who has called Roxbury home for the past 25 years, and we truly love everything about this quiet, beautiful corner of Connecticut. The charm of the countryside, the welcoming community, the endless trails and preserved lands—it all makes Roxbury a deeply special place to live.

One of the greatest joys of hosting is getting to share this slice of New England paradise with visitors from all over the world. Whether you're here for the hiking, the history, the local food scene, or just to unwind and recharge, we hope you'll find the same peace and inspiration here that we do every day.

We're always happy to offer recommendations or help make your stay extra special—and our three friendly dogs will be just as excited to welcome you as we are!

What makes this property unique

The Loft at Rucum Hill isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience rooted in peace, beauty, and authentic New England charm. Nestled on a quiet country road in the hills of Roxbury, our property offers the kind of privacy and tranquility that’s hard to find, yet is just minutes from quaint towns, hiking trails, and cultural gems.

What makes it truly unique is the setting: a newly built loft apartment above a classic barn, surrounded by gardens, fruit trees, and open sky. From your private deck, you can watch the seasons change—morning mist rising over the orchard, summer blooms in full swing, or a blanket of fresh snow across the quiet landscape.

We’ve lived on this property for decades, lovingly cultivating not just the land but the atmosphere. It’s a place where you can take a deep breath, slow down, and reconnect with nature, yourself, or your favorite travel companion. Guests often tell us they sleep better here, think more clearly, and leave feeling renewed.

Whether you're sipping wine under the stars, heading out on a hike, or simply enjoying the peaceful rhythm of life in the countryside, it is a place to truly unwind. It’s not just where you stay—it’s where you come to feel at home.
