Wonderful home, wonderful location and wonderful hosts. This home has everything you need and more. It’s thoughtfully stocked with every needed kitchen item to be your home away from home. It’s clean, the beds are comfortable, and the views are beautiful. Our family of 5 loved it.

Thank you so much! Hope to see you again next year ❤️
Our Family really enjoyed are stay at this newly remodeled Home. The Patio off Master was very large & had a lovely view of the Lake. All the bedrooms and baths were large and nicely finished. The Kitchen was very large and well supplied. The owner (Mark) was friendly, helpfull & responsive to all are questions. We will definitely be looking to come back next year.
Our adventure at the Bass Lake Cabin began with a phone message early morning of the day we were set to arrive. The refrigerator had gone on the blink. Ugly way to start considering our stay was for Thanksgiving. We have a son in college, so we have a large dorm sized refrigerator that we put in our truck, and the Carlson's have one (about the same size) downstairs, so we had plenty of refrigeration. Mark credited us some money back for the inconvenience and totally made things right by us. We had a fabulous time at the cabin. We loved being able to see the lake from the window and we especially loved the deck. We look forward to when all the renovations are completed as we would love to go back for another stay.

Disappointing
- No walkable lake access even though the lake is near, I was under the impression when booking that this property came with a slip - it does not. All lake access near this cabin is private and unaccessible.
- House was uncleaned upon arrival, I had to wash the previous tenants sheets and towels, and have a cleaner come 2 days into my vacation.
- Description indicated a game room and showed old photos, but that part of the house since was destroyed.
- "Downstairs bedroom" was actually a separate unit so part of the group had to be separated from the main house. That was unexpected and disappointing.
- Black mold and cockroaches were found in bottom unit.

Hello Megan,
It's taken me a while to respond as we have started the remodeling process. (Finally)
I apologize for your experience!
You were the last renter before the remodel and our housekeeper decided to not show up and we fired her.
In the description the upcoming remodel was mentioned and also that the game room was hit by a tree.
We did issue you a large credit and by the way no where on our site has there ever been a boat dock listed. ...if we did it would be on the description page as it would be a great feature to have.... again sorry for your experience. As our 9.2 rating indicates this was not the norm.

An interesting experience
This is the oddest review I've ever written. I'm giving it 4 stars because I think this house would be a 5 star for some people, but for us it was more like a 3. I'll explain. Mark, the owner, is very nice and easy to work with. Sometimes it seems hard to reach him, but he gets back to you fairly quickly. When we got to the house it was very challenging to open the bottom "master bedroom" lock. I had to call him for help. We looked for the outdoor grill, bringing food to barbeque with us for 4 nights - another call. BBQ was broken and had not been replaced. We had to buy a grill on our first night. The other couple who had planned to come with our family backed out at the last minute, which meant that for us (mom and dad of teen girls) in order to use the master bedroom, it is outside the main house, a walk down the stairs and into a separate apartment, with no cell service, leaving the girls alone upstairs. There is no direct hallway or connection. This was not what we wanted at all. There was another bedroom upstairs, but it's a queen, and with my husband's c-pap machine we must have a king bed. So that part didn't work for us. The beds (all of them) were all super firm, like sleeping on cement slabs, and we had backaches each morning. However, if you like firm beds, the sheets were beautiful, the furnishings were new and upgraded, and the look of the home is nice and warm. It advertises a well appointed kitchen. There was one (metal) frying pan only (that everything stuck to regardless of spray). We had to buy a frying pan and griddle in order to make pancakes and bacon. No baking sheet for things in the oven except for casserole dishes. Nice dishes and coffee maker, but no juice glasses, only pint glasses or coffee mugs (another purchase). The house does not have air conditioning, it has a blower that tries to cool the home, but it was very hot and no one got much sleep - certainly not under sheets. The blower is also very loud. The fabulous deck is almost worth not mentioning the rest. The deck has gorgeous comfy chairs, lights in the trees, and is peaceful and quiet. We all sat there each night until bed talking and enjoying the solitude under the trees and stars on the deck. This home would be great for people who like very firm mattresses, in cooler weather, who can sleep in queen beds and have a separate private "in law" type unit. If you want a king bed and be in the same house as your kiddos, this is not the place to stay.

We are sorry our home didn't meet all your expectations. We have tried to think of every detail for your visit. We do now have extra glasses.....The additional pans were below the stove. A new barbecue is available now as the first one disappeared. Regarding the house cooler. It is best to turn it on in the morning as the house will stay cool if you do. I'm sorry it was unusually warm that week. The separate studio below has been mostly well received as a private quiet area for those that want that. We wish you the best on your next vacation.
The covered patio next to the master bedroom is gorgeous and a great place to relax. We spent a lot of time sitting on the swing. The kitchen is beautiful and has lots of space for cooking. We enjoyed being able to walk to the shops at the Pines Resort in the evening. We also appreciated the little step stools in the bathrooms and kitchen. It really helped our little one make herself at home (she's 3 and a half).
The house in Bass Lake was better than expected!! The kitchen was very well appointed and the seating areas were terrific. There was plenty of room to spread out and visit, read or watch the World Cup. The location was also great as we easily rented a pontoon boat from the marina and got takeout from the local Mexican restaurant. The host was very responsive. I will rent this house the next time we come to Bass Lake!

Beautiful, may want to bring your own lighting
We liked this older house/cabin, but a few things detracted from the best stay so I have to note:
Positives: Beautiful location. Inside is roomy. Good size deck w BBQ, lights, and nice view. Perfect for marshmallow roasting. Shower/tub combo is good sized. Parking for three vehicles. (Street and upper parking are very narrow. Lower parking is wider.) Large TV. Appliances all work. Beds are comfortable. Pines Resort and lake easy drive, bicycle or walking distance. (Note-it is very hilly.). Cooking necessities available. Owner was quick and pleasant when responding to inquiries. General store and restaurants are fairly close.
Negatives: Lighting…Very dark. All lamps have fluorescent low wattage bulbs. We ended up using headlamps and flashlights - especially in the bedrooms-even during the day.
The heating… the old house heater was loud and didn’t heat quickly. There are small portable heaters for each room. It took 8 hours to get warm. Once we got it warm, it was ok. There is a fireplace and wood available. Fireplace would have worked nicely but we did not use fireplace due to allergies. Note: When I printed out passcode for entry, it printed out 99999, instead of actual code, so we had to call owner to get correct code. He was available and helpful.
General… The bathrooms, kitchen and floors were clean. Lots of dust and cobwebs though. TV is large - has Apple TV, Netflix and Prime. Originally we had planned for six people and it would have accommodated that number well. It ended up just being us two. Note: the downstairs king size bed and bathroom are accessible by outdoors only. Not a problem, but guests should be aware.
Overall, we liked the place, but the lighting and heat were issues. We would stay here again, but would bring better light bulbs.
We were attending a wedding at the pines resort and the house’s proximity was PERFECT. Owners are on it if something comes up. We would definitely go back.
Great location walking distance to The Pines Resort
Very nice house with a classic cabin feel. Great location short walk to the Pines Resort. The patio deck closes on both sides which was great for keeping our dogs safe especially with nightly visits from their local bears (pretty cool). We enjoyed out stay very much!!
We enjoyed our stay very much. This home had everything we needed. It was so wonderful to have access to a washer and dryer, which is the first time we had ever had this privilege. This home truly felt cozy and comfy for us. A true oasis. This was our first time to this particular city and we loved it! We will definitely be back.
The property ended up being perfect but the 8 yr olds were a tad scared to sleep in the attic as there were spiderwebs on the ceiling, but the kids loved the space as a fort for playing. Note that the ground floor room has a separate entrance which we didn't realize but it all worked out. The owner was very responsive and gave us a heads and discount as the game room was under construction.
Nice place. Everything was clean and as advertised. Nice deck to hang out on. King bedroom was like its own downstairs suite. AC was nice to have, it was very warm in the area. Very close to pines marina. Actually walked there for dinner, wasn't too far. Overall, a great experience for the price.
We had a wonderful stay! The cabin was very comfortable. The new deck was very nice. It is an older cabin with a slightly outdated style but it’s Bass Lake, I’m not there for the style, I’m there for the lake, family and friends. I also prefer an older cabin having kids so I didn’t feel so paranoid about every little move they made. I felt like I was staying in an old friend’s cabin, which for me was a comfortable feeling. My family has been going to the lake since 1948. The location was wonderful, super close to the pines, within walking distance if you don’t mind crossing an occasional bear. The main house has 2 rooms and 1 bathroom. The third room and second bathroom are slightly separate from the main area. They are attached but you enter from the outside not inside the house so we didn’t use that part of the house with 2 younger kids. The extra space would have been nice for older kids or a separate family. There was space to park 3 vehicles however the roads are very narrow and steep so boat parking is not advised. If you are looking for a fancy, newly remodeled home then this is not the one. If you want to relax and be comfortable and enjoy the lake then this is perfect. I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you very much for hosting us.

was everything you need
The house is dated but does the job. you cannot beat the location.
We stayed for a week, including Thanksgiving. This house was great for the 6 of us to spread out and relax. The downstairs master suite and game room are huge! Larger than they appear in the pictures. There is so much to do here, we want to come back during the summer as well. Hiking, swimming, bike riding, boating on beautiful Bass Lake, fishing, beaches, and close to Yosemite and Oakhurst (Grocery, etc.). The family friendly community of Bass Lake made us feel like we were year-round residents. This house is the perfect home for any activity you want to do in the area, or just to sit on the new deck an enjoy the view. This house has everything you need, a large screen tv, fast wifi, games, a new washer/dryer, a charcoal bbq, super fun full sized pool table in a large game room, a very comfortable bed, an oversized bath tub, and a very well stocked kitchen. I cooked for the 6 of us for a week, including a full Thanksgiving dinner and didn't lack for anything. Well ok, they were a little short on wine glasses, so we fixed that and were happy to leave them for the next guests. The owners were very friendly and quick to communicate. Definitely a 5 star review!
As soon as we saw the size of this house and how close it was to Pines Resort, we wished we would’ve booked longer. The master suite below is HUGE! The game room is also giant.
Not much else to report. We had to leave early due to the Creek Fire. Hope the owner and family are safe!
We enjoyed the new deck with a charcoal BBQ and the billiards table was also put to good use. Please note there are no public lake access points within a short walk and pulling a boat to the cabin is somewhat treacherous. That being said, the cabin is as expected and we really enjoyed our stay.
It was altogether any accommodating. And I would absolutely stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Mark R.J. Carlson
This house was our Dad's primary residence until his passing in 2008. My brother and I decided to remodel it and make it more up to date for our vacation renters. We have spent many days enjoying Bass Lake since we were young lads. We have had made many great memories here and know you will too! We have put a lot of love and care into this place so you may find rest from your busy lives while you are here. You can swim, boat, fish, hike, bike, and barbecue on the deck. When we stay, these are just some of the things we do!
Why they chose this property
This property has been passed down from my father who loved the mountains, especially Bass Lake. The summer is a great time to rent but the Spring and Fall are even better! If you are looking to wind down from your busy life this is the place to come and rest.
What makes this property unique
Our home is in a very quiet little corner where virtually no cars drive by for days. Deer, squirrels, and raccoons frequently visit. The sound of birds chirping in the morning will be the only sound you will hear. Come in the Summer, Spring, Winter, or Fall for a complete quiet and a refreshing experience!
