About Julia and Richard Voke
We live in Bristol but have been holidaying in Pembrokeshire for the last thirty years. The beauty of the coastal walking and the ever-changing sea never cease to lift our spirits and replenish us, allowing us to deal with the hustle of our busy lives. It is a wonderful area for photography with beautiful views and wildlife. We also love the outdoor activities and enjoy swimming, surfing, kayaking and coasteering.
Julia and Richard Voke purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Julia and Richard Voke chose Nolton and Roch
We were drawn to Westerly because of the closeness of the sea and Pembrokeshire coastal path. All of the activities we enjoy can be accessed from the cottage without having to drive.

Beautiful place for relaxing
The house was a lovely base for exploring the coastal walks. It had quite a lot of cobwebs and spiders though, but that aside it was very comfortable and clean. We were a bit disappointed that there was no access to the advertised garden and stream at the bottom of the garden, although there was a patio area. The beach really is only 100 yards from the house, and is very beautiful at any time of the day, we loved this the most about the location of the house. I would highly recommend a stay here if you want to relax and unwind, and seek peace and quiet for your holiday.
Thank you for your 5 star review of Westerly, we are sorry you found cobwebs and spiders. The harvest spiders like to come inside in the autumn and they had obviously been busy in the week since the cleaner had been. I hope you found the spider catching gadget under the stairs! We will make sure that the cleaner visits closer to the date of a guests' arrival.
Thank you for bringing to our attention the garden assess. Although it is mentioned in the Information for Guests folder it is not clear on the website that there is no access to the sloping garden yet. We are still working on it and I have now updated the website.
Two adults and five children enjoyed a lovely family holiday in this well equipped bungalow.
The property is welcoming and well equipped. The children aged 7-14 really enjoyed the attic den which is full of toys and games.
The kitchen is well equipped and roomy enough to seat everyone.
A highlight for us was the proximity to the beach, which is a two minute walk away. Close enough for the children to walk home wrapped up in a towel.
Lovely walk in wet room to sort out sandy feet and salty hair.
Everything clearly labelled in the house and information readily available.
Couldn't have asked for more.
Thank you x
We are so glad that you all enjoyed your holiday at Westerly and that you found everything that you needed in the cottage.
Wonderful time in Nolton Haven
Lovely property and location. We all enjoyed our stay and we also bought some of the owners art work.
Comfy cottage in an excellent location
Well equipped cottage a stone’s throw from a beautiful beach. Everything you could think of was there. The garage is stocked with wetsuits, body boards, buckets, beach chairs, crab lines.....you name it. Having a wet room accessible via the back garden made sandy footprints through the house a thing of the past. Very quick responses from the owners to any queries. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage if you want to explore the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline.
A quiet retreat
Just returned from a lovely week in Norton Haven. The cottage was a 1-2 minute walk to a little dog friend beach and super new Brassiere. The cottage is very well equipped for self catering and has everything you need for the beach from snorkels to surfboards. Very peaceful location with stunning coastal walks on your doorstep. We look forward to our return.
We are very pleased you enjoyed you time at Westerly and found everything you needed there. We look forward to having you back to enjoy more of Pembrokeshire.
Excellent location by beach
Very well equipped, helpful owners.
There are so many outdoor activities to do: walking the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastal path and Preseli Hills; swimming at one of the many beaches; horse riding, zorbing and Segway at Nolton Stables just up the road; surfing, kayaking, coasteering, paddle boarding, kite surfing or kite boarding with tuition and equipment hire available at Big Blue Experience in Newgale; sea fishing from St Justinian’s and Dale or crabbing at Solva and Porth Clais. Nolton Haven is on the Sustrans Route 4 national cycle path from London to Fishguard and there are other challenging or gentle bike rides, some off-road in the area.
There are Pembrokeshire castles to visit – such as Pembroke, Carew and Manorbier. Britain’s smallest city, St David’s, with its ruined Bishop’s Palace and majestic cathedral, has lots of art galleries, pubs and cafes. Further afield is an Iron Age encampment and the Centre for Alternative Technology.
This area of Wales is superb for walking. The Pembrokeshire Coastal path runs unbroken for 186 miles and Westerly is just metres away from it. The flowers, particularly in May, are wonderful and there are sea birds, such as cormorants and gannets, unusual rock formations, ship wrecks, porpoises and puffins to see.
There is also excellent walking with wonderful panoramic views in the nearby Preseli Hills or Mountains to the north.
The No.400 Puffin Shuttle bus runs around the coast line from St David’s to Marloes with Nolton Haven half way round. This allows for a one way walk with the return journey by bus and avoids the need for a circular route.
The walks either way from Westerly, towards Newgale or Druidston Haven, are beautiful. You can use a mileage calculator to work out how far you plan to go.
