The cottage is very cute, nicely decorated, comfortable, and within walking distance of downtown New Buffalo. The bedding and furniture were clean. Unfortunately, the overall cleanliness of the property significantly affected our stay. The bathroom was dirty when we arrived. The owner responded promptly, but offered to return the next day to clean it. Since we needed to use it, we cleaned it ourselves. We then noticed significant dust throughout the cottage—on light fixtures and fan blades, the piano, around and under furniture, and in corners—along with cobwebs. Several kitchen appliances were sticky with grease, and the coffee maker reservoir was dirty, so we didn’t use it.We couldn’t use the backyard without first cleaning the table, chairs, and cushions. We did wipe down the furniture on the adorable front porch, but a constant 24/7 buzzing noise outside made it difficult to enjoy sitting there. We enjoyed being able to walk into town, especially brunch at Beer Church and donuts from Zo’s. One tip: we found the city beach small and parking quite expensive, so we preferred driving to the state park for beach time. The cottage has a lot of charm, but the level of cleanliness did not meet our expectations. Perhaps it’s time to hire professional cleaners.
