About the host
Hosted by Gill Nurcombe

Dave and Gill have been married 15 years. Dave has been a property developer and in the licence trade for many years and Gill is a chemist who retired from her post as Deputy Headmistress at Queen’s College Taunton. We set up a horse trekking business after our passion for riding, which we ran for 10 years. Walking and mountain biking are so popular in the area, being able to enjoy the beautiful and unspoilt Quantock hills. Mountain biking is also very popular in Great Wood and we found accommodation was needed so we built Bashford Lodge. With careful planning of what people wanted after a day on the Quantocks, the Lodge has been carefully planned to cater for that. We hope you like it!
Why they chose this property
Bashford Lodge has all the creature comforts of your own home, but with a different panoramic sunset every evening, with colours that will blow your mind. Open the bi-folding doors and bring the outside inside, or sit in the private garden and enjoy a barbeque or simply read a book or chat with friends. Our brand-new luxury accommodation features 3 double or twin rooms with super king zip-and-link beds. There are three state-of-art wet rooms with heated floors, a fluffy towels and crisp linen bedding are all provided. The kitchen is fully equipped including a 12 bottle drinks fridge will ensure your holiday is relaxed as possible. If you want to snuggle up by the wood burner or watch the latest films and browse the internet, or even play music through our wireless Bose speaker system, the choice is yours! Catering is available by arrangement if required (we happily cater for vegetarians and vegans), however the local gastro pub is within stumbling distance. There is plenty of parking for all your party.
What makes this property unique
Direct access to some of the finest riding and mountain biking country in Britain.
Close by are beautiful beaches and the historic steam railway. Bishop Lydeard Station is only 2 miles away, which is great fun going to Minehead on the steam train.... always a winner with young children!
With activities like bird watching, photography, and probably the best walking routes in Somerset, with various country pubs en route, there are plenty of ways to relax and enjoy your holiday. If you just fancy a complete rest, sitting in the south-facing garden with a glass of wine and best seller, then Bashford lodge is the place for you! Change over on FRIDAYS means you can relax and enjoy the weekend when you arrive. We also do winter breaks, give us a ring to check prices.
