About this property

Lovely, Sprawling Log Home On Pretty, Pristine Trickey Pond.

Originally a modest log cabin, this home has been expanded to a generous 6 bedroom home with lake views from all living spaces. A pleasant mix of rustic and contemporary charm, this is an unforgettably pretty place to stretch out and enjoy the wonders of Trickey Pond, a true gem of the Lakes Region. A well-maintained deck stretches across the entire back of the home, wrapping around one side into a huge dining area (accommodates 10-12) with party-sized gas grill just a few steps below. Beyond the deck is a sweeping green lawn with the perfect combination: expansive water views with total privacy on either side. Beyond, 182 ft of private waterfront connects you to one of Maine's cleanest lakes, with a gradual shallow entry that is perfect for young children. Included in your rental fee are a canoe, two kayaks, 2 youth and 2 adult standup paddle boards with room for a motorboat at the dock. Back inside the house, take your pick: water-gazing from the dramatic 2-story living room, meal-making in a huge country kitchen, ping-pong-playing on the "other side" in the game room, complete with a second kitchen and bar. In between, a private office with water views means even the workaholics will be happy. This is a perfect house to spread out in. In perfect contrast to the privacy on the lake side, the house is on a residential street, perfect for walking, biking, stroller-pushing and meeting great neighbors. This is a safe, friendly neighborhood just 10 minutes from the village of Naples (groceries, shopping, dining, gas) 30 minutes to the quaint town of Bridgeton, 45 minutes to the dining, cultural, coastal offerings of Portland. Or, head west to mountain trails and vistas. So much to see and do within one hour of your tranquil Trickey Pond hub.

Wonderful Naples week

We love staying at Leaning Pines. It is always clean and we love the location. The yard is shady with waterfront access which was more important when the grandkids were smaller but they all love now anyway! The owner is always responsive should you have a problem too. This was not our first time and won't be our last visit to lovely Naples.

Oasis in Naples

We have stayed at this property the last coupe of years and it is a GEM. Lori is attentive and has thought of everything. Kitchen is nicely equipped with everything you need to cook a large or small meal. Questions are answered with either the adorable signage around the property or the detailed binder so there is no guesswork as to how something works, where to find things, or what to do upon checkout. We had a lovely vacation and we look forward to coming back year after year!

Second stay as good as the first - already rebooked!

This is our second time staying at Leaning Pines and it was just as wonderful as the first time. There was a small glitch when we got there but Lori reached out immediately and it was no problem at all. She is great to work with and the property is just beautiful. We actually booked 2023 while we were there as there was an opening and we grabbed it before it was gone. I've rented many VRBOs over the years and this is by far the best property/location and owner.

Leaning Pines - Extra Special

This was the fourth time we rented Leaning Pines and will probably not be the last! The lake is so beautiful and the house has plenty of room to spread out. The owner makes every attempt for your comfort and enjoyment. It's not a noisy, crazy type of lakeside, great for relaxing, kayaking, paddle boards, water skiing, etc. We loved our time in Naples and hope we can return again! RMN from CT

Lovely, clean, exactly as advertised.

We had a beautiful week with family, 6 adults and 5 children. The property was comfortable, clean, and convenient with room enough for everyone. The grounds are well kept and allow for a lot of time spent outside. We easily rented a boat and paddleboards from nearby Naples. No complaints. Lori made it easy. We would highly recommend this property and would definitely consider returning.

Annual Family Maine Vacation

Leaning Pines is a great setup for families. There is lots of room to spread out. We were two grandparents, four parents, one adult sibling and four who were four years old and under. The home is very well stocked with kitchen items. There is a small sandy beach for littles ones to enter the water and a dock close by for them to walk back and forth to. And the float makes for good training for paddling from the dock with life vests learning to swim. Plenty of life jackets, kayaks, a canoe and a paddle board and more. Campfires with s’mores were fun, as were adult hangouts after the kids went to bed. The only challenge is the way the bedrooms are laid out on the second floor for bathroom access. Overall, the best place we have stayed at in Maine. And the owner, Lori, is very easy to work with.

Amazing

Lori, Thank-you for a great week at your beautiful home. Our family enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaking as well as ping pong tornaments. Your kitchen is well stocked with cooking and serving dishes. The wrap around deck is nice for outdoor dinners with ample room for our crew. The nice fire pit was great for sitting around at night. Trickey pond is absolutely beautiful. The cleanest pond we have been to. Thank you for allowing us to spend some time at your home. We will be back!

Amazing Vacation

Loved our family vacation at Leaning Pines on Trickey Pond. The house was perfect for our needs. It’s a little bit unusual in its set-up, but that’s what made it so charming! It’s well stocked, from towels/basic bath items to paper goods and every type of cooking gadget or utensil you’ll ever need! The ping pong table/bar area was also well stocked for entertainment. Toys were enjoyed by all! Lots of outside toys as well! Water was beautiful- very clear and perfect for swimming. Fishing was great! Owner was extremely responsive and easy to communicate with. The house is well loved and we appreciated that! Hope to return again!

The best vacarion ...ever.

We don't have a family vacation often so we try to pick a great spot and this was it. Keeping everyone happy with ages ranging from 1 to 79....can be a challenge! But this place met the challenge....it was like almost everything was new. We were not in want of anything. It was all there. Even with three days of rain we had a good time and the kids never complained! My daughter said "best vacation ever".

Fantastic Week

Incredible location. Great place for the children to enjoy the water. Everyone had a week they will long remember. The kids had a great time in and on the water. Diving off the floating dock, kayaking and using the paddleboards and the canoe. It was great that the various sized life jackets are provided. Gave the parents and grandparents much comfort. The house worked really well with the number and variety of beds. The ping pong table was a plus on the one rainy day we had. Trickey Pond has the cleanest, clearest water I have ever seen! Would have giiven this more than five stars if that was an option!

Wonderful Lake Property!

Leaning Pines was a beautiful and comfortable vacation spot. The house is spacious, well equipped and has amazing views from almost every room. Lori was great to work with and answered quickly when I texted her. We had extended family there and we did not feel crowded at all. We like to cook and the extra kitchenette was really great. The yard and lake front was perfect - we used the fire pit several nights, ate out on the deck and made full use of the paddle boards, kayaks and canoe. We also loved that it is a quieter lake - motorized boats but no jet skis. The neighborhood was great for walking but we were still close to a lot of restaurants/ice cream stands, etc. Great property worthy of 5 stars across the board. Thank you Lori!

Perfect family vacation spot

Lori’s lovely house on Trickey Pond was absolutely perfect for our annual extended family vacation week. Our group ranged in age from 6 months to 76 years and this house had everything we needed for everyone to have a fantastic time. The lake is beautiful, with a perfect sandy entry for young kids. The included paddle boards, kayaks and canoe and beautifully maintained backyard area kept everyone so entertained that we barely felt the need to leave to explore the surrounding area (though I am sure there would have been plenty to do if we had). On our one rainy day there was enough indoor common space (plus board games & even puzzles for the little kids) for 8 adults, 4 kids and 3 babies to hang out without getting cabin fever. The kitchen was well stocked with all the equipment we needed to make family meals. Lori was very easy to work with and the house was amazingly well organized. Overall, the ideal spot for a family week in Maine.

Beautiful setting, lovely home and plenty of fun to be had!

We just spent a week at Lori's lovely and spacious home on Trickey Pond. We had 11 people and still had plenty of room to spread out. Being right on the lake front everyone easily found something to do. Kayaking, paddle boards, fishing, swimming, canoeing too! The sunsets were lovely, but the sunrises were spectacular! The kitchen was large with room for more than one cook and there were also 2 tables outside on the deck so everyone could spread out. It was a quiet and peaceful setting. For those new to water sports this lake is much quieter than either Sebago or Long Lake and jet skis are not allowed so the crazy factor was not present (if you know what I mean!). We were so pleased to have found this wonderful vacation setting and thankful to Lori for sharing her beautiful home. I would definitely return in the future. My grandkids had so much fun and would love to go back again. We found the property to be clean and well maintained and Lori explained everything quite clearly beforehand. All in all, a great vacation place in a lovely setting.

This is a gem!

There are lots of good reviews that let you know all about this place. Here are some things I'll pull out to emphasize: It is very rare to find something this size with direct walk-in water access on such a clean lake. And with a lawn to play games. And a firepit. (and of course, lots of other great amenities but those are key). Lori helped us find a paddleboat from a neighbor - reach out to her if there is something you are uncertain about, any small little thing that would help make your stay even better and I bet she can help. A number of places I've stayed close off significant amounts of space for their things in closets, dressers and cabinets making it hard for you to organize food, clothes etc. Especially given that this is a place that you are staying for a week or so, it's really nice to have access to these kinds of spaces. Wifi is strong. We didn't have any challenges. The setup is a bit unique so just make sure you are comfortable with the flow of the house vis-a-vis bedrooms. Thank you, Lori for providing a place for us to gather with friends and family we could not otherwise enjoy all in one place. It was truly wonderful.

Five GLOWING stars, HIGHLY Recommend

This property was absolutely perfect! There were 5 adults and 5 children sleeping at this home and there was ample space for everyone to spread out and at the same time the rooms were big enough that everyone could congregate in one room to be together. The outdoor space was stunning (chef's kiss). The floating mat was a TON of fun for everyone - lots of flips without worrying if the kids are going to hit their heads and it was easy for everyone of varying ages to get on. The dock was a perfect place to drink your morning coffee and the deck outside was sprawling. The house is beautifully appointed, and there are no questions left unanswered. A sweet welcome package greeted us when we walked in, and everything was labeled so we never had to guess or open every cabinet to wonder where things were. Lori was extremely pleasant to communicate with, very responsive, and I wish she was closer so we could meet in person! I highly recommend this wonderful property if you are looking for a place to stay in Naples, or in that area. You will NOT be disappointed.

Return to Trickey Pond

Our all adults family really enjoyed staying at Leaning Pines and taking full advantage of all the water activities. They had grown up with summer trips to the lake and had fun seeing all the changes over the years.

About the host

Hosted by Lori Miller

Host profile image
My late husband and I bought our vacation home in March of 1990. We chose it based on the unique meandering layout, rustic character and proximity to either mountains or coastline within an hour’s drive. We had absolutely no clue how special that snow-covered site was until we made our first trip back from Philadelphia the following June. When we saw our gorgeous view (brilliantly blue Trickey Pond lapping up against our private waterfront with nothing but natural shoreline on the opposite side) we practically did cartwheels in our new back yard. I still feel that thrill – glee mixed with gratitude – when I first arrive, even after 32 summers.

Why they chose this property

Trickey Pond is renowned as one of Maine's cleanest lakes. The opposite shoreline is still wild and untouched as far as the eye can see. The road is paved and lined with homes, runners, walkers, cyclists, baby stroller-pushers...it's a real neighborhood and everyone's friendly. In contrast, the back yard is extremely private, while offering expansive views of the lake. The north end of the lake has 2 islands, one hosts a returning loon couple, the other has a rope swing only reachable by boat...or kayak...or canoe...or stand-up paddle board!

What makes this property unique

In the summer of 2021, the driveway and walkway were repaved, exterior re-stained, the last of the original windows updated and second-floor carpets replaced with plank flooring. On the lake side, grand stone steps to the water's edge were added to make pond access safer and easier. The distinctive steps are actually repurposed curbs from downtown Portland. This fall, 2022, I will upgrade the upstairs bathrooms.
