Located in historic downtown Newberg away from the busy streets of Hwy 99, the Newberg Downtowner is within walking distance to ten tasting rooms, shopping and a variety of restaurants from world renowned fine dining to rustic casual dining. what a cute, wonderful place right in the heart of town. Great suggestions for coffee literally right across the street and the scones were amazing. The character and interior decor are fun, enjoyable, relaxing. I also enjoyed all the thoughtful amenities they provided. I would definitely look for this one again.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in Newberg. The apartment was comfortable and well equipped. The mattresses were excellent. All the amenities were well thought out and just what was needed. Our host was extremely responsive and helpful. I would rent this apartment again in a flash.

Don't let the quirky vintage furnishings fool you, this is a very comfortable, well-appointed little apartment in the heart of Newberg. We really enjoyed the creative, eclectic decor. Many restaurants and coffee shops are within an easy walk, and an amazing number of excellent wineries are located a short drive away. Lori was a very responsive host who went above and beyond to accommodate us and make our stay easy and enjoyable. I want to say, also, that this was our 5th and last VRBO stay on a 2-week road trip, and was by far the cleanest of them all: spotless--and much appreciated!

The host was very communicative and provided numerous recommendations for local shopping and restaurants - those that we took her up on were FANTASTIC. We visited Newberg for a wedding where my daughter was a bridesmaid. The location was very important to me as I needed restaurants and coffee to be close by and things to keep us occupied the day before the wedding. We loved the location as it was within walking distance of boutiques, restaurants, bars, and cafes. And wine tasting galore!The apartment was cozy, yet spacious. It had all the necessities needed. And TVs in every room, along with games as well. My daughter and her boyfriend stayed in the suite, which had a bathroom inside the bedroom, and I slept in the room without a bathroom and used the bathroom in the common area to shower and get ready.My only wish was that there were more hangers, as we only had three to accommodate us, and that was difficult since we had a suit, a bridesmaid dress, and a wedding guest dress among other items.Our host, Lori, was great with communication; she answered any questions immediately. She gave wonderful recommendations for the area. Her instructions were simple, and cleanup duties were easy. She even allowed us to check in an hour early so we could get ready for the rehearsal dinner and be on time. Parking was available just out front of the building. We loved the vintage vibe of the apartment and the quaint and comfortable feeling of the Historic Downtown Newberg-it was very walkable.I would absolutely recommend anyone stay here, and I would return if ever in Newberg again.

Doug and Lori purchased this apartment and the surrounding property in early 2013. The building has now become a neighborhood gem. The first floor was brilliantly restored to house Valley Wine Merchants, a wine mercantile with a wall of wine that will make any wine taster giddy. The owners are excited to offer the second story (The Newberg Downtowner) to travelers from near and far. The Downtowner Newberg is filled with amazing finds from Doug's experience as an auctioneer that he couldn't wait to share.

Why they chose this property

Doug's gift is seeing the potential in a property. After restoring numerous properties throughout Newberg (the kind of homes you'd see on This Old House), Doug saw the beauty and reward of restoring this building and what it could offer the community. The Downtowner Newberg was stripped to the bones and re-planned and furnished to accommodate the modern necessities of a traveler(s) to Oregon Wine Country.
