About this property

Secluded cabin 20 minutes from Colorado Bend State Park. Pets ok, no fireworks

One bedroom rustic cabin with a queen bed plus two single sleep mats in the loft.
Please bring your own queen sized bed linens and bath towels. We have extras in the trunk if you forget.Notice there are no additional cleaning or pet fees.

Enjoy the privacy and solitude in the one room cabin.

Why come to a tiny cabin on a Nature Preserve? Enjoy the wildlife. Disconnect. Pet the goats and horses. Hike the acreage. Swim in a filtered pool built in 1925.

Walk the Antelope Creek Road that connected Fort Phantom Hill Road to Red Bluff Ferry on the Colorado River.

We will provide freshly laundered bed spreads. The cabin will be ventilated before guest arrival. We provide plates, flatware, pots and pans and serving bowls. There are extra sheets in the trunk if you need them. Please ask if we missed something you need.

Hot plate, Microwave and Convection Oven for cooking. Gas grill and charcoal grills on the patio with campfire ring. Electric skillet, two burner hot plate, large serving bowls, bbq essentials, blender, coffee grinder, and more. Please ask if you need anything.

There is no wifi or television.

Twenty minutes to Colorado Bend State Park. You must secure an online reservation for a Day Pass with the Texas State Parks reservation system. It’s only $10 and well worth it.

We are on the wildflower trail which includes Willow City and Enchanted Rock.

Important:

We have an above ground swimming pool with no lifeguard. It is open from May 1st to Sept 1st.

Please read our Release of Liability before booking. When the payment is processed, the lessee has agreed to the terms of the Release.

Dogs are welcome with notification to owner. Please keep dogs leashed due to goats and free roaming chickens. No firearms, night hiking, or ATVs allowed.

This cabin is small, 475 sq ft. We do have an 80' children's playhouse next to the cabin.

Little Getaway

My husband found this cabin on VRBO. It looked perfect for us. We have a 10 lb. papallion and he travels with us everywhere. He was welcome. The property was beautiful and had 2 beautiful horses and lots of pretty goats. Was so nice sitting on the back porch reading and watching the animals. Would definitely stay here again!!

Property was 5/5 having the horses and goats roaming around was really cool, nice creek near the cabin. Cons: the cabin is about 100 yards from the highway, you can see and hear it from the deck, if you want total seclusion this isn’t the place. While I was there only 1 grill worked, a small 2 burner propane grill. The other gas grill was a Webber flattop and it was rusty. I didn’t see any charcoal grills during my stay. Cookware is sparse, 1 frying pan and a couple sauce pans, no grilling utensils. No spices, not even salt and pepper, were in the cabin. Make sure you pack everything you need to eat. Host was very responsive and kind, instructions were clear.

This is the perfect little cabin. Very peaceful. Loved getting to see the goats and horses. The pool was great! Mrs. Griess gave us a very warm welcome. Lovely place and lovely hosts. Can’t wait to go back.

Great Family Destination

This was a great trip- we loved the animals! The goats were particularly amusing. The cabin was comfortable, it was easy to make grilled meals, and there was plenty to do. Beth even gave us an awesome tour of her property and showed us thousand year old Native American artifacts. Loved it! I highly recommend staying here, especially if you have young children!

Hidden Gem

Amazing find on a spacious ranch! Perfect way to disconnect from the city and appreciate all the Texas Hill Country has to offer! The cabin was precious, comfortable, accommodating and the pool was a wonderful bonus! Plenty of beautiful scenery including the brightest red cardinals I’ve ever seen in my life! We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back!

Wonderful farm stay!

The cabin has everything one needs for a breakaway. The outside porch is enclosed which is wonderful if you have a dog and great to simply relax and watch the hummingbirds! The horses and goats also investigate and come right up to the porch. The playhouse outside was a definite hit. There is something for everyone to do! Will definitely be back!

Relaxing on the Ranch

This was our fourth visit to the Nest, and it may have been the best. The joy of walking around in the quiet of the country, hanging with the horses and goats, and the awesome view of the night sky away from the glare of city lights can't be beat! Leave your technology behind and enjoy nature as we were meant to.

Amazing!

This is our second time staying on this property we loved it so much we had to come back! The goats are precious & my absolute favorite! It was myself, my husband, 4 yr old & 15 yr sons & a family friend. Everything about the property, it’s history, animals, cozy cabin even ALL the toys for our little was amazing! Peaceful Getaway

My husband and I just wanted to get out of the city and have a nice, relaxing mini-vacation in the hill country. The property is large enough that there were plenty of places to hike, which we enjoy. We also LOVED the swimming trough as it was refreshing after a hot day of hiking. The cabin was cozy and the perfect size for a couple. Our little dog went, but next time I will leave him home as there are horses and goats coming and going on the property. Overall, we had a wonderful time!

Great Stay

This place is exactly as described in the listing. It was peaceful and secluded. The hosts’ house could be seen in the distance and they were prompt to answer my text when I had a question. We enjoyed the goats and horses that visited each day and enjoyed watching the multitude of hummingbirds that surrounded the cabin. The stock tank/pool was clean and refreshing and we enjoyed hiking along the creek. Colorado State Park and San Saba were both a short drive away which was nice too. We met the hosts the morning we were leaving and they were both extremely nice. Thank you for sharing your property!

It was an incredible stay in a peaceful, beautiful part of Texas. The hiking offered around the property was gorgeous with views of the surrounding terrain. We were warm after our hike so we swam in the pool, it was very clean and perfect temperature to help cool us down. The free roaming animals were sweet and beautiful, they greeted us shortly after arrival! The back porch was lovely for breakfast or coffee in the mornings. We mainly cooked outside on the grill and enjoyed a fire one night. It stormed while we were there but the cabin was spacious and the sound of the rain on the roof was like a soundscape. We would love to stay here again for longer.

This is my second stay at this cabin. If you want a remote place surrounded by nature, this is it. The small goats grazing nearby add to the serenity of the experience. There is a very unique swimming pool for those that come during warmer weather as well. I highly recommend staying here.

The cabin is set back in a large stand of mature Live Oaks and Cedar Elms which provide lots of shade and the patio is huge, great for meals and hanging out. The cabin is incredibly clean, well decorated (rustic), very cozy, relaxing and well stocked with most everything you might need. The well water is delicious and clean! We really enjoyed the goats visiting us in the morning and evening. They are very respectful and Mayor Ringo is affectionate like a dog, he loves to be petted! Beth gave us a tour of their family's Century Ranch while sharing it's rich Texas history. I love Texas so her stories gave me goose bumps! Beth and Tom are amazing stewards of their property and love to share it with their guests if you like.We will be going back!P.S. The drive to Colorado Bend SP via US 580 is a gorgeous 30 minute drive with lots of elevation change and twisting roads! Amazing views!

Private Cabin

We loved our stay! The cabin was so private in the middle of a beautiful pasture with goats and horses! It was convenient to Colorado Bend State Park where we spent the day hiking! A beautiful back porch to sit and watch the wildlife!

Located one hour forty minutes from Austin or 11 miles from San Saba,Tx. We are also 20 minutes from the Colorado State Park in Bend, Tx. We don’t offer linens as this property is unique. A small inconvenience compared to a private nature preserve.
