The property was secluded and private. Our own hottub was the cherry! Plenty of outlets and full kitchen. 10 to 15 minute walk to downtown via river walk which was BEAUTIFUL! Wished there was a dresser for clothes but otherwise perfect little apartment for a couple or small family. We really enjoyed it!
Not sure where to begin but BUGS!!! I found the underneath of bed was full of live and dead bugs. There was bugs in between the mattress and box springs. These bugs were big not small. Owner notified and did come clean it up but we refused to stay another night there so we stayed elsewhere and checked out a day early. Only way I seen this was I dropped something on floor seen a big bug and proceeded to look under bed. Owner said housekeeper issues getting help. I proceeded to tell him he is the owner it’s his responsibility of property. Those bugs had been there for months. I have photos as proof.
Electrical outlet lose and hanging off wall.
Door handle was broke fell off numerous times.
Stairway to upstairs apartment is next to bedroom window so you hear them going up and down if it’s occupied while your there:
The toilet runs every 10-15 minutes for 2-3 minutes at a time 24/7.
Owner didn’t even offer to compensate us for the hassle of all the issues so I had no choice but to warn others of his property!
The listing is very accurate - obviously it's a tad worn because it is a historic dwelling, and it would have been nice to have a few more towels. Overall though, it was perfect for us. We were able to walk to the Alamo, riverwalk and do so much more. It was great to walk through the historical area too. The host provided a list of great restaurants that were amazing 👏. Oh and it's always great to have a pool to come home too, especially in the record breaking heat!
Overall the experience was great. The rental looked as photographed on the listing. I would say the most disappointing aspects were finding out that the pool and jacuzzi were actually in the owners back yard, making it seem kind of impossible to enjoy being that we did not want to disturb them but also wanted privacy. The wifi was not good either. Spent what seemed like hours trying to get Netflix alone to load on the tv but there was a wifi issue I couldn’t solve. Also if you close the bathroom door you get locked in, you are not able to open it from the inside. Besides that the owner was discreet and welcoming. The neighborhood was beautiful and convenient as far as all of the attractions that were within walking distance from us. I would definitely stay at this listing again. We had such a great time. Love the warm vintage feel of the place.
What a treat! The cottage is a quaint little place for a getaway which is exactly what we needed. Nice, safe and quiet neighborhood. So much history in those buildings. We loved walking and seeing all of them. It is within walking distance to shops, restaurants, the river walk, grocery store and liquor store. Such a Comfortable bed, great jetted tub and insanely good water pressure and water heater.
Only suggestions-
1.) TV in living room instead of or in addition to the one in the bedroom. We had to watch movies, etc. from the bed. Also more options. We couldn't get regular TV to come through.
2.) A couple more towels would be nice.
3.) Front door made it a little challenging to get in and out with bags. Maybe there was a trick to it that we just didn't know.
This neighborhood was awesome and it was literally one block from the Riverwalk. Strongly recommend eating in the neighborhood as opposed to the Riverwalk as the restaurants nearby are amazing. Make sure to try Hot Joy g Asian fusion), Maverick (great steak house) and Titos (Awesome tex Mex)
Very convenient, great hosts
The place is a great location if you want to visit the river walk and/or something more of San Antonio. Quiet neighborhood and the pool was fun. Don is a great host. He’s there if you need to know where to go and what to do. We stayed 6 days. I recommend this place.
The owner was gracious and attentive. He was a wealth of knowledge regarding king William and the river walk area. The cottage was charming and the location was fabulous.
The place was really nice and had a historical charm to it. The neighborhood is very safe and its and easy walk to the downtown riverwalk area. Awsome find!

Great location, but needs updating
This location is perfect. It's in a historic area with beautiful houses all around. It's a stone's throw from the Riverwalk. Great restaurants are nearby, and there's a pool outside your door. The unit itself has loads of charm and really should be an easy 5 star reservation. I can overlook a lot of shortcomings, but this unit had far too many things wrong with it to garner 5 stars:
- for a 1 week stay, we were given 2 bath towels. Two. For 2 adults taking a daily shower, this is woefully inadequate
-the outside furniture was filthy. There was no way to use it without a bucket of soapy water and a sponge
-outlets in the bedroom were pulled out of the wall and appliances in the kitchen were powered by an extension cord. I can't believe this would pass any kind of electrical inspection
-dishes, silverware and cookware were definitely garage sale castoffs, with few pieces matching and the absolute cheapest aluminum pots & pans I've seen in a rental unit
-there were very few amenities provided in the kitchen, so we invested in lots of simple things like spices, foil, etc. all for a 1 week stay. A note offering small coffee packets (at an additional cost), was in the cupboard. This just isn't done anywhere else I've ever stayed.
-in the same fashion, a tiny bottle of shampoo and conditioner was in the bathroom, with a note saying if more was needed, it would come at an additional charge. I didn't need shampoo- I brought my own- but that was so petty. It lacked the general feeling of hospitality I've grown accustomed to, when renting units
-the kitchen cabinets are in desperate need of an update and the aerator on the kitchen faucet sprayed water everywhere
-the bedroom comforter and pillow shams, (which are white)- showed clear signs of dirt and wear. They really needed to be washed
-parking for the unit is across the street at the larger Inn, despite there being plenty of parking next to the carriage house. The triple garage, 3 spots in front of the garage, and 3 spots next to the house, were all reserved for the owner. It was strange to make your guests, carrying luggage, groceries, etc. walk across the street to park.
So if you can overlook these shortcomings, you'll have a great stay. San Antonio is a beautiful city and there's tons to see and do. The gal that checked us out, was apologetic when I told her about the maintenance issues & she agreed the unit was long overdue for an update. She was the nicest person we encountered at the rental

Fun San Antonio
The carriage house was in the perfect location. We walked the River Trail a few times to get to and from our activities. It made for a very easy, quiet walk to and from. The owners of the house were very accommodating and had a list of restaurants and activities for us to use. We enjoyed our stay.
