About this property
Everyone Welcome! Private WiFi, Heated Pool, Gas Grills, Catch the View!
Mountain Dewey's borders the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and is close to the arts & crafts community, theme parks, aquarium & museums, shopping, water sports, nature trails, hiking, dinner shows, and more.
Begin your mornings with a cup of hot coffee on our second-floor balcony with a breathtaking vista that overlooks the town of Pigeon Forge, about 6 miles down the mountain. The same view sparkles after dark with the lights from hundreds of shops, restaurants, and fun places to play. My pictures from our balcony are all taken roughly from the same angle at different times of day, and all seasons of the year.
Our quiet and peaceful condo is on a mountaintop, which is not in town, but near town. Cozy and comfortable, we welcome visitors from all walks of life and backgrounds. Minutes from Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the wilderness, there are no limits of places to go and things to see.
Many of our guests comment on how nice it is to have a quiet place to relax after the bustling activities in Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge, or a beautiful hike on one of the myriad trails in the Smokies. Theme parks, horseback riding, swimming, biking, water sports, shopping, skiing, and zip-lining are great fun, all of which let you appreciate a good night's sleep! We offer three beds - one queen and two twin/singles. A fifth person could sleep on the sofa if they're not a giant, and there’s also a twin-size inflatable air mattress with an electric pump. Plenty of extra quilts, blankets, and throws are provided. I personally like to wrap up in a quilt when sitting on the balcony.
While the kitchen is compact, it is efficient and equipped well enough for the finest cook to serve a gourmet meal. In addition to the ordinary necessities, we have two coffee makers - a full-sized pot and a single-serve Keurig, an electric hand-mixer, a slow-cooker, blender, toaster, & microwave, and plenty of dishes, glasses, & silverware. There are wire whisks, corkscrews, can openers, measuring utensils, muffin pans, mixing bowls, cutting boards, and sharp knives. The refrigerator has an icemaker. The stove and dishwasher are apartment-sized due to limited space. We also have a set of child-size dishes and silverware for smaller hands. They are dishwasher and microwave safe, so use them with abandon.
A 50" Smart TV with cable is in the living room, and each bedroom has a 40" Smart TV. All three televisions have Blue-ray DVD players, Netflix, and Prime Video. If nothing playing on TV suits you, there's a collection of over 300 DVDs plus about 100 books. We have our own private WiFi server, which is far superior to most other units.
There are 2 hot tubs and a year-round indoor pool as well as a seasonal outdoor pool. We have several pool noodles in the condo, but please bring your own beach towels. Coin-operated laundry facilities are on-site, and firewood is provided for a small fee during the cooler months. The huge free parking lot surrounds the main office building, which includes the indoor pools and laundry facilities.
Although our second-floor balcony is small, we've added a bar-height bistro set with cushioned swivel chairs. This added height above the treetops gives an unobstructed view of the mountains and valley below. You can see all the way to Pigeon Forge and beyond. Each season offers a different view, one more breathtaking than the next. There are mountains as far as the eye can see.
The entire condominium is open for your pleasure. I hope you'll enjoy taking advantage of our games, books, and DVDs in your downtime. We furnish all bed linens and towels, as well as paper goods, toothpaste, shampoo, and soap. There's also dishwashing liquid and dishwasher pods in the kitchen. Additionally, you will find an iron and ironing board, 2 hairdryers, and two hand mirrors.
Our unit is on the second floor, and accessible by stairs only.
Due to the impact of the buildings settling over the years, the sliding door and adjacent window are askew. The window is so far off square that it won't open, so please don't attempt it. Although the sliding door closes all the way, it’s sometimes difficult to lock, so we have provided a wooden wedge to prevent outside entry. Our balcony is fairly high up, therefore it's highly doubtful that it could be accessed anyway, but the wedge gives a better sense of security. It's also possible that the lock may be fixed by the time you read this.
In addition to signing our guestbook, we would appreciate you leaving a review on this site, especially with suggestions as to improvements needed or other ways in which we can make your visit more pleasurable.
We've seen black bears on the premises more than once, which is always a thrill, but it is expressly forbidden to feed them...so no throwing food off the balcony!
Thank you for considering Mountain Dewey's for your stay in the Great Smoky Mountains. We look forward to being your host!

Great little apartment in a large complex: beautiful views and comfortable beds. Kitchen is pretty well stocked (but as per the listing, you’ll want to bring your own hot water electric kettle if you drink tea). Great place to stay!
THE HOST WAS PERFECT. We have gone 7 years to Tennessee. BUT NEVER IN A CONDO. The place was beautiful. But the Noice above us and the fighting below us was a little to much. When we were leaving, I drop something on the floor. The person below us started to pounding on the ceiling. We did nothing when they were fighting. We learned no more condo. The place was beautiful the rooms were great ,the kitchen was well stocked with utensils ready for Christmas, books and movies to use. thank you for letting us use your place it was beautiful
Exactly as described! Kitchen was well stocked, decor was warm and cozy, lots of games, books, and movies. Location was great and views amazing! Check in was a breeze. The host provided great directions and clear instructions for our stay. Highly recommend!
Well furnished property in a beautiful location with great facilities on site and view from balcony. Great communication on check in and directions, however would have appreciated a heads up on the pest control they have in place. Otherwise could not fault and enjoyed visit!!
Very good, very down home condo. Saw bears and turkeys from the balcony. Weather was wonderful! Would definitely recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Julie Walls, aka Dewey
This is our grandson on his first zipline experience in 2011, just outside Pigeon Forge, TN. He visits us from Vancouver, B.C. and we love taking him to see the sights in the Smokies. I am Dewey of 'Mountain Dewey's' and my husband is Poppy, a retired mail carrier. We're native Tennesseans, living in Knoxville, and are enjoying being second homeowners for the first time, hoping that you will fall in love with everything that east Tennessee has to offer.
It's so wonderful to have a home away from home that is both convenient and cozy.
Why they chose this property
My grandparents had one of the first vacation cabins in the Smokies. Sadly, they sold it before I was born, but I still enjoy driving by it up near the apple orchard off Airport Road. It's near the old Holston Camp Grounds, where I attended Methodist church camp every summer as a young girl. That old cabin is still standing on Mandalay Way, where my grandaddy built the stone wall in front, and also planted the old tree (now huge) in the yard.
Maybe this is why I find having a place in the Smoky Mountains so very comforting.
What makes this property unique
Well, you can't argue with the price. Four good friends could hole up here for less than $50 a day each. There's everything you need, plus some of the most spectacular views to be seen anywhere.
Our location is away from the hustle and bustle of tourism, yet only minutes away from town, as well as the entrance to the National Park. We offer completely furnished, tastefully decorated, and comfortable lodging for you and your family or friends at some of the most reasonable rates available, and we’d love to have you stay at Mountain Dewey’s!
