Very clean, home-like property with all needed amenities. Good central location for getting to the wilderness areas on the pecos as well as being able to run to Santa Fe or Albuquerque in a reasonable amount of time. No complaints, we had a great time.
The river was lovely. Nice and quiet! A piece of paradise...

The two bedroom house was immaculately clean and furnished well. However the outside with the picture of the front porch is a little deceiving. We thought it was a patio but it is a walkway. Kitchen was well furnished with utensils for our needs. We are an elderly couple and maneuvering around outside was difficult. Toilets are extremely low. Shower was great!. Handicapping would be a great addition. Sorry to say we won’t book again.
Tom was such a great host, and his house is a great property! He was a responsive, even past the point I became a bit of a pest. Pecos is a quiet gem with easy access to Santa Fe and the fishing spots up and down Highway 63. It was a real fun and peaceful retreat all at the same time! The house has a well equipped kitchen, great water pressure in the showers, and laundry facilities that are first right. Great views across a grassy expansive lawn to the deck and river, with sheer cliffs over the tableau. Two items that renters might want to be aware of, a vehicle with greater than a 6-inch clearance is best, given there surface of the driveway. Driving slowly let us avoid bottoming out. Also, as a warning sign in the driveway indicates, it's a pretty steep walk down to the waterfront, especially for somebody mobility impaired. But, it's an easy and worthwhile drive down that same hill for those who might be using a cane. Thanks, Tom!

Hi Pete thank you for your review it was nice working with you during your stay. Your review was very good that was very pertinent right on the mark. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself looking forward to seeing you again someday if you ever get up this way. Thank you Tom
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, making it a wonderful place to relax and unwind. The picturesque setting added to the experience, and our granddaughters especially enjoyed spending time in and along the Pecos River. The location was excellent, with easy access to hiking trails and several historic sites in the area. (The drive way is steep.)We would gladly recommend this property to anyone visiting. A helpful tip for future guests: plan to do your grocery shopping before arriving. Pecos is a small village without a grocery store, so bringing the supplies you’ll need for your stay will make your visit even more enjoyable.

Overall it was a very nice place to stay. But I did have to clean the deck and grill and grill table before we could use them. The yard out by the river and deck needs to be tidied up and the deck needs some maintenance done. There was no deck umbrella available. But we enjoyed much river watching time on the deck! And the showers are wonderful!

About the host

I have been involved in real estate all of my life and enjoy it immensely when I find a property that is just too good to pass up. This is that property
Why they chose this property
The Spanish Conquistadors came to this area in 1680. This property and that of the whole valley where the land is situated was 'Land Granted' to one Conquistador; the direct descendant of the lady who designed and built this house, Evelyn Espinoza Varela. The land was given to Evelyn by her Grandfather a decedent of the Conquistadors who came here in 1680. Evelyn spent many weeks coming to her land, contemplating the design, making sure it correctly represented her roots. Finally in 2001 she set forth to build her dream house, an authentic Southwestern design. Evelyn, accomplished her goal and then some. That is one of the reasons why we like this southwestern abode, you can feel the presence. Yet, it is modern, another plus for those of us who have been spoiled with all the conveniences.
What makes this property unique
1. Fantastic location right on the Pecos River 2. In this Sangria De Christie Mountain but with all the amenities 3. Close to the historic city of Santa Fe; 20-25 minutes 4. Cultural activities abound 5. I feel more a tuned to nature out here. The pure blue sky with the puffy clouds, the Pecos River with the sound of the water rushing over the rocks; how peaceful that sound is. 6. The people living n this village are peaceful fun loving individuals that have a respect for the wonderful nature around them. 7. Driving up highway 63 to the end of the road leads you past magnificent camp grounds that offer horse back riding in over 200,000 acres, hiking trails of all levels, fishing, hunting, trapping, etc, 8. Skiing of all types is just a short distance away. 9. I could go on but suffice it to say that there is something for everyone in this glorious country
