Captain Cook's is your home away from home on Lake Wedowee. This home is the kind of place where we love to go, and we hope you like it as well. It is a fully furnished 3 bedroom, 2 bath jewel located on a wooded lot directly on the lake with year round deep water. The house is a family friendly single story with bedrooms on opposite sides of the house, affording privacy between the master and the other bedrooms. It is stocked with books, CDs DVDs, toys, games as well as a portable crib, and children's table and chairs. The walk to the lake is short (64' from house) and easy with a wooden boardwalk all the way to the private covered pier and large covered floating dock. There is even a private boat ramp on the property for launching your boat as well. Enjoy evenings lakeside by the firepit or swinging on the porch.

At Captain Cook's you will find all the towels, linens, dishes, cookware and utensils you will need. We have gone the extra mile to make sure the kitchen is fully equipped. We have both drip coffee maker and Keurig coffee makers, an air fryer, blender, toaster, counter top ice maker, griddle, crockpot and plenty of cookware. Hairdryers, iron and ironing board are also provided as well as for your use. We now have Starlink internet access\WiFi. There is a gas grill for cooking the fish you catch each day. A ping pong table is available for the competitive types as well as a basketball hoop toss and corn hole set up. Enjoy the use of 2 single kayaks, 2 stand up paddle boards as well as a tandem kayak. Lakeside Marina and restaurant are a short boat ride up the lake.

The large master bedroom has a king bed with a Tempurpedic mattress, flat screen TV, DVD player and private porch. Enjoy views of the lake from both the windows or from a rocker on the porch.

A queen bed with deluxe memory foam mattress topper is in another large bedroom as well as a set of built in bunks. This bedroom has a private entrance from the front porch, flat screen TV and DVD player.

2 comfortable full beds are in other guest room and a rollaway bed is also provided for use.

The living room includes a large screen LCD TV, lots of books, games, puzzles, etc. There is plenty of space for reading or relaxing in the cozy living room or on the large porch facing the lake. You can swing, rock or just sit and enjoy the view.

The porch on the other side of the house is also a great place to sit, rock, have a cup of coffee and enjoy the peace and quiet. There is also an awesome flying saucer swing for children.

22’ TRITOON with 150 hp Honda engine. Very comfortable 800.00 flat fee.
After 10 hours of run time rate is $45.00 hour.(you don’t pay while you watch sun set or fish)
The boat will be at least 3/4 full when you get it and should be returned with 3/4 or greater.

This is separate transaction from house rental. (book early)
We are renting our house in hopes that families can get away and enjoy time together. This is why we have tried to provide things for all ages to enjoy in our home. We have plans to complete the basement and include a game room and bunk room, kitchen and living area there as well.

Gorgeous Lake Getaway

House was gorgeous with incredible views and access to the lake. Spent the entire weekend enjoying the backyard and dock. Really appreciated the kayaks. Owner communication was great and there were plenty activities available. Easy/quick access to town as well.

charming well loved house! Plenty of space to be together but not be on top of each other. Awesome shower pressure, fantastic beds and bedding, well equipped kitchen, phonomenal dock. we really enjoyed the water toys - kayaks, rowboat, floats. the chairs and couches on the dock were so comfortable. We grilled both days. just sitting on the porch in the morning was deightful. I am a fan of all Lake Wedowee has to offer!

Great Lake house / Awesome host.

Hosts were amazing. Helped us back our boat down the ramp, gave great information, etc. The house was perfect for our family and fun. We caught over 30 fish from the dock. We tied our boat there and enjoyed the lake. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful place!

We had such an amazing trip to the lake for the week! The location of the house was so nice. Our kids loved swimming at the dock. We caught many fish while we were there as well. We will definitely be booking this house again!

Great stay at Cook's Cabin

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cook's Cabin. The cabin was clean and beautifully decorated with a whimsical lake theme. The lot was not steep, and easy to maneuver to and from the house to their very nice and comfortable pier. We rented the Cook's pontoon boat and loved every minute we spent on the lake. We look forward to renting Cook's Cabin in the future.

Lovely views from the porch!

Lisa and Charles were great to work with! They were flexible when we had a last minute change and responded right away when we called. We had everything we needed in the house. The mattresses were great, that’s not always the case with other experiences. We’d highly recommend staying here when you’re in Wedowee!

Super Entertaining

Between swimming in the lake, feeding the ducks, playing board games and all of the games in the basement (corn hole, ping-pong and giant jenga), two 70 somethings and our two 40 something sons had a fabulous time.

The perfect place to relax and have fun.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was very comfortable with everything we needed, perfect for families to spend quality time together in a fun atmosphere. Our morning coffee was even better with the view from the front porch. It rained a little, but there were plenty of movies, games, etc to keep us busy. We liked that it was a short trip to town, and we checked out a few antique and re-sale stores. The only problem with our stay is that it ended too soon.

It was a wonderful vacation but there was a problem with the dish washer. It needs to be checked fixed. We hand washed dishes while we were there. Great vacation though.

Memorial Weekend 2020

Our stay and experience here was great minus the abundance of mosquitoes. The view of the lake is great! When we weren’t on the lake we sat on the dock watching other boaters having fun. We didn’t have a chance to use the fire Pit, but the set up was nice. The owner is super nice and communicates well. We would stay here again, but will bring citronella lamps, candles and fogger. Great Getaway!

We had a great week with family at Captain Cook's! Kitchen was well supplied which was nice since we ate in the whole time we were there. Beds were comfortable. Lots of space for everyone. The dock was also fun to hang out on. Beautiful home in a beautiful location. The only issue we had was no working internet. The owner said they are working on a solution but if that is a neccessity for your group, I would verify with the owners that the problems have been resolved before booking.

Double booked

Got to the property to check in and another family was already there. VRBO and AirBB booked on top of each other for holiday weekend. Very uncomfortable situation! Not property owner’s fault. Caused lots of tears until a resolution was found.

Great house, just dirty.

House is in a nice area. Good boat ramp. Good accessibility to marinas. Plenty of towels, bedding, pillows, and kitchen stuff. Overall good. The only negative was that it didn’t feel or look clean- crumbs on the kitchen counter. Coffee pot still had coffee grounds in it, dish towels were gross. Floor felt sticky and rugs were really dirty. I washed the bathroom rugs when I arrived. But there was hair on the bathroom floor. There was a bag of trash left in the kitchen closet. Walls could use a wipe down for sure. Master bath shower smelled musty. Bedding should be washed more frequently.

Great Lot, Homey and Comfortable

My husband, son, daughter, & son & law stayed here for Labor Day weekend as a last get together before our daughter & her husband were moving out of state and to look at some property we own there. The location and lot for this property is exceptional, not too steep and very close to the water with a beautiful view and dock and a tritoon boat which we also rented. That was the highlight for us! The boat is large enough to seat a group, and the motor runs great. We were able to tour the entire lake including our property which we were anxious to see from the water. They also had kayaks, paddle boards and a peddle boat and swimming off the dock on floats was easy in the cove area where it's located. The house is very homey and comfortable, although the bathrooms could use some updating, it was quite suitable for the price and the owners couldn't have been nicer. The basement, although not finished, hosts a ping pong table and corn hole game which was handy for a rainy day. Overall, very satisfied with our visit!

Relaxing and comfortable

We spent most of our time down on the lake. My boys enjoyed the paddle boards and paddle boat. The house was wonderful and the beds were comfortable. We plan on coming back next year.

Sweet rest and relaxation!

5 girlfriends enjoyed rest and relaxing! The home offered everything we needed. View of the lake was perfect! Porch was cool and inviting. The owner was responsive and thorough in his directions, help and description of the home. We highly recommend this rental property.

Why they chose this property

We enjoy entertaining people and have always wanted to have the opportunity to own a place to share with others. This is our 'bucket list' dream and we hope others enjoy Lake Wedowee as much as we do. We love having a place where our family can get away and want other people to have that chance as well.

What makes this property unique

One of our favorite things about this house is the view of the lake and the privacy it affords. We knew when we first saw it that we could make it into a home in which others would feel welcome and not want to leave. We have decorated each room with care and filled it with everything one would need to call it home. The kitchen is even equipped with staple items like sugar, flour, coffee, spices, oil etc. The bathrooms even have q-tips and cotton swabs.
