About Alison Prenetta
The matriarch (Robin) and patriarch (Sam) of this family built this house as a vacation home and now live in it 5-6 months of the year (the warmer months). Their winters are spent in Florida. Their children live with their families in CT, NJ and MA. Three generations of family have enjoyed many special moments together in the house as well as independently with their own family and friends. I think it is safe to say that each of us considers this place to be our favorite place in the world.
Alison Prenetta purchased this House in 1975
Why Alison Prenetta chose Newport Center
This property has been in the family since 1936. It is the perfect location with a spectacular view. The house was designed and built in 1978, expanded in 1990 and completely updated between 2009 and 2014. Robin created the stained glass in the house while Sam built all the intricate woodwork. The creation of this house and everything in it has truly been a labor of love.
What makes this House unique
This house provides true comfort, great mingling and private space and great vistas. The layout of the house is really perfect for several families to enjoy at the same time. The location is great for swimming, boating, kayaking and hiking in the summer and down hill and cross country skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating and snow man building in the winter. It really has it all!!!

Amazing Winter Group Getaway
We were celebrating a 40th birthday on the slopes of Jay.
Alison was very available throughout the entire rental process, the house is fantastic and well equipped for mature groups.
We loved it and will be back!
Great Times As Usual
It was our third time staying at Alison's place and we enjoyed it a lot. The house is spacious and at a great location. A bunch of us hit Jay Peak for some skiing while the rest ice fished just in front of the house. We are looking forward to staying here again next year.
Perfect, great space accomodating everyone
The property was beautiful. Great views of the lake, close to Canada. The house has everthing you need. Traveled with kids and grandkids. Perfect ...just perfect. The owner is great. Communicates well. Thanks for it all Alison! We'll be back!
Close to Jay Peak Resort.Close to Newporr Center.
Beautiful Lake House fully equipped with lots of room and sun
We were not without anything. The house felt like home the minute I arrived. Clean, fully furnished kitchen, plenty of space and sunshine and wonderful views over the lake facing east. We would love to return for our next winter family gathering. If the house was available in the summer, we would grab a stay in a minute. Alison was great to work with, very helpful with plenty of information, efficient and responded quickly to my questions.
I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope you do choose to stay with us next year. We love repeat guests!
Excellent house for family gathering.
What a wonderful house right on the lake. Spectacular views of the lake and sunrise. Comfortable spacious living area. Comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. Incredibly friendly, accommodating and responsive host. All in all, could not have asked for a better place to stay for our large family gathering. Thanks again.
I am so pleased that you enjoyed your family time together. Our family thinks this is the best place on the planet. I’m glad we could share it with you. Family moments are the best!,,
5 star house all the way
A group of us stayed at this house over the weekend for a ski trip up to Jay Peak and we all had a great experience. The open living room and kitchen area were a great space for all 10 of us to comfortably lounge about, and the views overlooking the lake were wonderful. We all also really enjoyed the hot tub, which is now going to be a requirement for all ski trip houses going forward, as that was the perfect way to cap off a long day of skiing. Finally, the owner, Alison, was great to work with and provided a binder with detailed information about the house that made everything very easy. Thanks Alison!
Situated in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom, right on Lake Memphremagog, we are in the center of all things fun. Jay Peak Ski Resort is an easy and beautiful 19-mile (about 25 minutes) drive. Jay Peak has 78 trails, slopes and glades for you to explore. The amount of natural snow on this mountain is amazing. As a recently expanded resort it includes a variety of restaurants, an indoor ice-skating rink and an indoor water park called the Pump House. We are also a 40-minute drive away from Owl's Head Ski area, located in Masonville (Quebec) Canada. Burke Mountain is only a 55-minute drive away. Lots of choices for skiing. If you prefer cross-country skiing, ice skating or sledding, that can be done right outside the door of the house as the countryside surrounds the house.
The town of Newport is a 10 minute drive around the lake so if you are not up to cooking, you will find restaurants such as Lagos Trattoria, Le Belvedere, The Eastside Restaurant or our favorite pizza hang out, Hoagies. If cooking is your thing then Shaws, Price Chopper or Vista grocery stores are waiting for you. The Pick and Shovel is also in the town of Newport. It is loosely called a hardware store but if you need anything at all (from Winter clothing, to games, to screws), you will find it there.
If you desire an international flair to your vacation, we are 2 miles from the Canadian border. This gives you access within 30 minutes to the beautiful French-speaking town of Magog, which has shopping, restaurants and beautiful Nordic Spas. Outlet shopping is also close at hand in Canada. Additionally, if you need a little city time, we are a 2-hour drive to Montreal, Canada. Don’t forget to bring your passport!
