This recently constructed 650 square foot above garage loft replaced the old carriage house that was built in 1888. It sits off street behind our 2 story brick victorian residence. We welcome you to this historic neighborhood. It is an amazing location within walking distance of downtown, restaurants, bike path, trails, library, Powerhouse Childrens Museum, and other amenities. Enjoy your vacation in the beauty of this modern, fully furnished home. We have recently added central Air Conditioning for your Summer comfort

If you choose to walk to downtown the swinging bridge over the beautiful Animas River is only three blocks away offering easy access to all the restaurants and shopping that Durango has to offer.

A relaxing place to stay with a private deck overlooking a forested hill and a garden water feature. This home has vaulted ceilings and a modern kitchen with stainless appliances, fully stocked and all the extra things you might need to cook in house.

The spacious bedroom has a new king size bed with fine linens and down comforter. The bathroom is luxurious with a carrera marble counter top, 18 inch tile floor and Subway tiled shower. It is accessorized with quality towels, soaps, and a hair dryer.

The living room is equipped with a double sized futon couch, flat screen television, DVD player, 2 leather swivel chairs, and a library complete with games. We also provide Wifi access.

The dining area seats up to six and can be used for dinners on those nights you want to stay in.

Very quiet lodging in Durango for Durango Silverton train excursion and visit to Mesa Verde National Park. Plenty of room in loft for two people. Appreciate the ability to do laundry in house as we are on a multi week road trip. Host offered assistance upon arrival but loft was stocked well so no assistance was needed. Online listing is accurate. We would happily stay again if ever we revisited the area.

I’m so glad we found this little hidden gem. Not only was the host family welcoming, they took the extra care to make sure we had everything we could need. The house and amenities were just like I was at my home in Houston. My pups were very welcomed and accommodated. I will definitely return to this wonderful home.

Spring visit

Accommodations could not have been better, Perfect for my wife and I and pup. Owners had a pup as well and fenced in back yard so we did not have to keep him leashed the whole trip. Dogs got along great. Great location and easy to get downtown and to Animas River Trail. Though rental unit was in the backyard, it had a lot of privacy. Owners were friendly and gracious. Will definitely come back.

A Retreat Right in Town

The carriage house was just perfect for us! The neighborhood was safe for walking and close to the river trail. The property had everything you could want and was so well appointed and comfortable. Our dog enjoyed it very much, too. We’d love to come back and stay even longer. There’s so much to do in the area. Kitchen is perfectly stocked for preparing food. Great host and Birdie, the golden retriever!

Cozy and Modern Durango Apartment/Condo!

Surprised at how beautiful and modern/updated this rental was- WOW! Very comfortable bed. Host Joe responded to messages very quickly. Perfect for us with our dog whom we crated when we had to leave him there a few times. Very cozy/warm, clean, and convenient to downtown. We would stay there again!

Perfect location

The carriage house was perfect for us and our dog. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and to the river. The location was close to downtown where we enjoyed walking to shops, the food truck park, and the train station. We enjoyed talking to Joe and his wife. Durango is a very special town.

Nice digs an awesome host!

Beautiful town, nice, safe neighborhood. Only two complaints….pics show two black swivel chairs with two ottoman’s in sitting area….hmmm not there? People use Kleenex….put some out…everything else spot on…..the host dog was a real treat…Birdie….owns the place! Ha being that we left our pets at the local pet resort…nice to have Birdie, she waltzs in and we enjoyed her company. Bed was a good one, ac was excellent , patio was a plus and plenty of hot water….update your pics and definitely 10 plus. Oh and Joe, the host let us park in driveway the night before because we headed home at 4am! Recommend the place for sure! Texas Proud!

One of the Best

The loft was just as described. The workmanship and details were superb. The rental is in a great quiet neighborhood with an easy walk to downtown. The back deck was very private and relaxing. We particularly enjoyed the waterfall that was turned on one afternoon as we relaxed in the deck. It made us fell like we were on a mountain stream. Joe was a great host. Being greeted by Birdie was wonderful! We will definitely return if we get back to Durango.

Durango Escape

The property was everything promised and walking distance to many town amenities. We have been coming to Durango for years and this is the first time staying in this property. Great renovation with plenty of room for us and our pups. The neighborhood is very quiet & peaceful. Hosts were great too!

Both of us attended here at Ft Lewis College and while we have both lived other places neither of us had ever found a place quite like Durango. We have both now Lived in town for more than 25 years. Yona is a nurse at the local hospital and Joe is a fly fishing guide and carpenter. We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to live and raise a family in such a unique location.

Why they chose this property

Ours is one of the few Victorian homes in the neighborhood built in the late 1800s. It required a lot of fixing up but the location and historical nature of the house was just too much for us to pass up. We finished construction on the Carriage house in early 2014 in hopes people would spend their vacations here and also as place for friends and family to stay when they visit.

What makes this property unique

One benefit of the properties location is that it butts to a forested hillside, this means we have no alley or neighbors behind us. The deck of the Carriage house faces this hill and its common to see deer and other wildlife pass through. I think it offers a privacy and feel that's hard to find in a location this close to Main Avenue. Also we have central air conditioning rather than window units to maximize comfort for our guests.
