About this property
Modern Studio in the Heart of Downtown Anchorage
Cozy, modern clean studio with a full kitchen (granite counter tops) and plenty of room for your clothes. The closet is quite large. King size bed, and a loveseat in the main room. Large shower, hardwood flooring, flat screen TV with cable and internet.
The location just does not get much better than this. Walking distance to everything great about Downtown Anchorage. You just will not need a car. (If you have a car, you can arrange parking though "Easy Park" in the "Chinook" lot, which is right next door to the building) You can walk down to the train station, or right next door to the Saturday Market. The Iditarod race starts on 4th avenue, just one block up. Fur Rondy Carnival is next door.
The unit is small (387 square feet) but if you like the freedom to cook some of your own meals, the kitchen has everything you need. It is perfect for two people.
This charming old (security) building is home to unit owners who have lived in the building for many years. They take pride in ownership, and respect 'quiet time' in the building. Exterior doors lock at 5:00PM, (so you will need to keep your security key with you) and parties do not really work in this building, so that means everybody gets a peaceful night's sleep, and everybody wakes up happy in the morning (grin) .
Should you like to see the outside of the building, please just look on Google Maps and hit the "street view" option, so you can take in the whole, wonderful street. The address is 525 W 3rd Ave, and the building is green. Sadly, there is not much of a view, from our unit, we are next door to a building that blocks it, for the most part, but you can see part of the Ship Creek area, and you can walk to the action in minutes.
Staying in a historical building has it's challeges at times. The water system is all connected, so occasionally the water must be turned off in order to perform maintenance.

Perfect location to downtown Anchorage
The studio was exactly what I needed for my business trip. The room is cozy and had everything I needed. It was a quick walk to 4th and 5th Avenue for shopping and some dining restaurants. Great stay!

Thanks so much! Please come back and stay in the condo again.
Great condo with a fantastic location. Close to the train station and in the heart of downtown Anchorage. The host was responsive to our questions. We would stay here again.
Carrie was a great and very responsive host. Provided clear instructions and a lot of helpful info to get around. Being downtown was ideal for us without a car and it was perfect for easy to organize tours with Hilton right across the street and so many restaurants close by.

Way Better than any Hotel!
I recommend this place to anyone who's visiting or any couple looking for a little getaway! The apartment comes exactly how it looks in the pictures and was very clean! It's in the perfect location for a nice view of the mountains, water, a walking trail, and within walking distance of any shopping. It was the perfect spot for my boyfriend and I and I will be staying there again someday!

Thank you for visiting, and we are so happy that you were comfortable and happy in our little condo. We hope you come again some day.
Loved staying ao close to all that Anchorage has to offer! The apartment was clean and comfortable. There isn't a view, which was probably good since there was 18 hours of daylight, but it was easy to get out and enjoy everything as all the summer events and delicous food was just a short walk away. Carrie was very attentive and helpful throughout our entire stay!
The condo provides guests with a downtown location next to a large hotel with a restaurant and a convenience shop. It’s just a short walk from the train station and other meeting points for buses to take you onto other tours (i.e. glacier boat tour by Cook Hotel). The building is mostly quiet but noise from the streets and other tenants can be heard from time to time.
The unit and hosts were great. However an issue I had, that is out of their control is the upstairs neighbor coming home in the middle of the night (2am) and being very loud every night. I do not know if this person lives there or was renting like me. Other than that the unit was clean, the perfect location in downtown that was easily accessible to everything and was very safe and secure. The weekend market that was next-door in the parking lot was fantastic!
The location was optimal - close walking distance to many great restaurants, the visitor center, the museum, many gift shops, etc. Most of our tours picked up from a downtown hotel, so we were either able to specify the Hilton, which is directly across the street, or walk 5-10 minutes to get where we needed to be. Very cozy and the perfect set up for two people or a single traveler (studio with a large bed, one full bathroom, and a galley kitchen). We had everything we needed. Laundry was in the building (make sure you remember to bring quarters!), and we had a parking pass available to park our rental car in a nearby lot. Building staff was very friendly and gave us some good recommendations. Carrie was very communicative, also providing recommendations and responding promptly to any questions.

Time Away
Overall, I enjoyed my stay the owners were honest with their description of the property. It was clean, safe and quiet inside the building. The king size bed is very comfortable and nice shower head (important to me). I enjoy walking and sightseeing so not having a car is no problem for me. However, if you like to drive then this property may not be the best choice for you. Your options are many for restaurants and shopping with the downtown being so close. This unit is great for a single or couple looking for a short or long-term stay it's very comfortable. Having researched several properties looking at location, prices and customer service these owners responded in a timely manner and were honest about everything from the start to the finish. They made sure my deposit was returned to me before leaving Anchorage! How often does that happen to you. I will return in the future. It was nice meeting both of you and your place was great!

Better than any Hotel!
Carrie was wonderfully accommodating to our 12:15 AM arrival and the place couldn't have been better. EXACTLY as the pictures show. Clean, comfortable and very roomy for a studio. Walking distance to ANYTHING downtown and very easy to get to the Trains/Bike rentals etc. Taxi's regularly wait outside the Hilton across the street so, even at 4:15 AM, we had a ride to the airport. Earplugs came in handy as we slept with the windows open and the apartment is close to the hustle and bustle of trains, planes, and downtown commerce. The blackout shade was perfect for the many hours of daylight in the summer. Great Kitchen setup and huge roomy closet for a couple to share rather than digging through a shared suitcase. Camped in Denali and were excited to get back to a realllly comfortable king size bed and great shower. Nice to have plenty of towels too! We felt very safe due to a secure building and never heard the neighbors on any side of us. Literally right across the street from the weekend summer market. Wifi/cable worked perfectly for us as well.
Carrie was very sweet to recommend a few places and was readily available before and during our stay. I would most certainly rent again. I used to work out of the office, exclusively traveling for business and this studio apartment beats any hotel/suite I've stayed in!

Thank you so much for choosing our unit. We have added a few items like a curling iron and a flat iron for our guests convenience. We are so happy you were comfortable.
Perfect place for Alaskan adventure without a car. We were able to walk almost everywhere we planned to visit. Train station just down the hill and an abundance of great restaurants nearby. Loved Snow City Cafe and 49th State Brewery. Fly Rusts picked us up for our Denali flight tour so only had to Uber from airport when we arrived. Princess Cruise bus transfer also within walking distance. Will definitely recommend this listing to friends and family visiting the area.
Cozy clean apartment in close proximity to everything.
Nice secure quiet place for an affordable price. Great getaway spot.

About the host
Hosted by Carrie Colbert
I live in Anchorage, just about 13 miles from downtown. I love to travel, and when I do, I prefer to stay in a place that has a kitchen, to make my own breakfast, and enjoy an entire pot of coffee before heading out to enjoy the daily activities of vacation.
Why they chose this property
Why this property? Well, I just love this old historical building. I adore the residents who occupy this place, and the pride that the owners take in this charming old place. I love everything about downtown Anchorage and enjoy weekends going out and downtown events. I love being walking distance to everything, unless I am wearing heels or it is really cold. In that case, I call a taxi to travel the short distances I am going. There is usually a taxi directly across the street at the Hilton Hotel, and they are more than happy to drive just a few blocks.
What makes this property unique
There is a gift shop across the street, in the Hilton Hotel, selling small necessities and personal hygiene supplies, snacks and soft drinks. It is quite convenient being so close.
