About this property
Modern Studio in the Heart of Downtown Anchorage
Cozy, modern clean studio with a full kitchen (granite counter tops) and plenty of room for your clothes. The closet is quite large. King size bed, and a loveseat in the main room. Large shower, hardwood flooring, flat screen TV with cable and internet.
The location just does not get much better than this. Walking distance to everything great about Downtown Anchorage. You just will not need a car. (If you have a car, you can arrange parking though "Easy Park" in the "Chinook" lot, which is right next door to the building) You can walk down to the train station, or right next door to the Saturday Market. The Iditarod race starts on 4th avenue, just one block up. Fur Rondy Carnival is next door.
The unit is small (387 square feet) but if you like the freedom to cook some of your own meals, the kitchen has everything you need. It is perfect for two people.
This charming old (security) building is home to unit owners who have lived in the building for many years. They take pride in ownership, and respect 'quiet time' in the building. Exterior doors lock at 5:00PM, (so you will need to keep your security key with you) and parties do not really work in this building, so that means everybody gets a peaceful night's sleep, and everybody wakes up happy in the morning (grin) .
Should you like to see the outside of the building, please just look on Google Maps and hit the "street view" option, so you can take in the whole, wonderful street. The address is 525 W 3rd Ave, and the building is green. Sadly, there is not much of a view, from our unit, we are next door to a building that blocks it, for the most part, but you can see part of the Ship Creek area, and you can walk to the action in minutes.
Staying in a historical building has it's challeges at times. The water system is all connected, so occasionally the water must be turned off in order to perform maintenance.

About the host
Hosted by Carrie Colbert

I live in Anchorage, just about 13 miles from downtown. I love to travel, and when I do, I prefer to stay in a place that has a kitchen, to make my own breakfast, and enjoy an entire pot of coffee before heading out to enjoy the daily activities of vacation.
Why they chose this property
Why this property? Well, I just love this old historical building. I adore the residents who occupy this place, and the pride that the owners take in this charming old place. I love everything about downtown Anchorage and enjoy weekends going out and downtown events. I love being walking distance to everything, unless I am wearing heels or it is really cold. In that case, I call a taxi to travel the short distances I am going. There is usually a taxi directly across the street at the Hilton Hotel, and they are more than happy to drive just a few blocks.
What makes this property unique
There is a gift shop across the street, in the Hilton Hotel, selling small necessities and personal hygiene supplies, snacks and soft drinks. It is quite convenient being so close.
