About Theresa Emmerling
18 years ago we bought our cottage on Mill Lake to have a quiet place to go and get away from the busy every day routines. We also wanted our children to have a place to take their friends and enjoy the great outdoors. Our time was split between relaxing and having fun. Our summer weekends were consumed with tubing, fishing, swimming, attending the Hot Air Balloon Festivals, Worlds Largest Breakfast Table along with lots of local attractions. Winter weekends were spent ice fishing, ice skating, sledding and indoor puzzles and games. Thru the years, our family has built many memories on this lake and in town at festivals. In 2012 we purchased and rebuilt the house next to ours. Now our friends and family can also enjoy the area but yet have a private place to stay.

Why Theresa Emmerling chose Battle Creek
Great location just off the main road with only a 15 minute drive into Battle Creek or Hastings for unlimited activities, shopping and festivals. It is also centrally located between Detroit and Chicago. The lake itself is large enough to have fun on but yet small enough to not be busy or overcrowded.
What makes this House unique
Being a small, private lake offers a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Located on the east side of the lake offers longer evenings and views of the sunset. The dead end road keeps the traffic to a minimal. All sports lake offers endless water activities.

What a great weekend getaway we had. My wife and I, along with our small dog really enjoyed the peaceful environment and comforts of the cottage. The advertised description of the property is exactly what you will receive.
We love it here!!
We have tried multiple VRBO rentals in the past. This is the only one we’ve come back to (and plan on returning to in the future). The home is inviting and immaculate with everything you’d ever need (Seriously! We made homemade pizzas one night and found a pizza cutter in the drawer. We don’t even have one of those at home). The grounds are beautiful and there is much to do from fishing, to just laying on the hammock with a good book. If the weather takes a turn there are multiple DVDs and board games inside. I enjoy cooking and had a great time doing so in the open floor concept kitchen/dining/living room area. The space was perfect for us and our three small dogs. We actually extended our most recent stay by one day. I have a feeling when we go back we’ll extend it some more.
The place was so peaceful and quiet and cute as can be!!!! The view of the the water was amazing to see everyday and the lake was so clean. Enjoyed our stay and everything worked out so well!!! It was a great enjoyed quiet getaway! Thank you!!!
Perfect getaway if you’re looking to unwind!
We enjoyed a peaceful, relaxing week at Mill Lake Cottage. Everything was perfect- the house was SO clean and the property is idyllic, with everything you need to feel right at home, while only having to relax. We have already booked our return for next year and can’t wait to go back!
This was probably the most beautiful property we have ever rented in Michigan. So impressed with all the amenities and decor that was put into this cute little cottage. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We went there mainly to relax and fish. Caught so many fish we couldn’t keep track of who was winning. Lol. Perch, Bluegill and even small mouth bass. Theresa was amazing at communicating every step of the way. Thank you so much for sharing your place.
Lake Mill Cottage
Our visit was very pleasant. Everything was exactly as pictured in the ad. It was very clean and well stocked with everything you could think of. Very nicely decorated. This is perfect as a quiet getaway or a base for exploring this part of Michigan. The owner even provided lots of information on what to do in the area.
