Delightful cottage in beautiful setting. Very comfortable with a lovely feel to the house. Great kitchen. We were party of 8 and had plenty of room without the house feeling overly big. Had the best mussels and fresh fish delivery from Fynest Fish and wonderful walks. Very much recommend Glenan Bay woodland walks (by Portavadie) and Kilfinan community woodland (at Tighnabruich).
The property was in a lovely location on the edge of Kames, on a hill with fabulous views north across the Kyles of Bute.Communication with the property owner was excellent and always helpful. The directions given were spot on.The house was extremely well equipped. We enjoyed relaxing in the upstairs room watching the scenery change with the weather. There were some good walks in the area and Kames was a lovely village with a good shop/post office. The Kames Hotel had a good menu and service was friendly and efficient ( make sure you book especially on a Friday. Further afield it was easy to visit Bute (nice castle in Rothesay) and Kilmartin Glen (highly recommend for the museum and visiting the cairns/standing stones/rock art in the area).Highly recommend this property, we had a great stay.
Four Winds was a great base for walking and kayaking. Recommend visiting Otter Ferry for supper and crabbing. Lots of wildlife, good place for bird watching, loved the room upstairs for the view and board games. Very well equipped kitchen, homely feel to the house. We were lucky to have fabulous weather, not what I was expecting on my first visit to Scotland. Great. Thank you
Nice place for a vacation with bigger family/group
Very nice and remote place. The house is in a nice little village with a small shopping store and an award winnnig restaurant (Tide and Thyme). The kitchen in the house is well equipped, so that cooking for bigger groups is fun! We enjoyed our stay!
We had an amazing time at Fourwinds the house is thee most well equipped house we have ever stayed in. Instructions from the host were spot on and nothing was an issue. The house is cosy, clean and very spacious. Great situation for walks . We will definitely be back.
My mother was 92yrs old whilst we stayed & relaxed at the beautiful Four Winds property in Kames, we all agreed it was perfect and we would like to return, thanks x
This is a fantastic property. So well located for all that the Cowan peninsula has to offer (lots), and such a great property. It really is ‘home from home’, probably the best we have stayed in in terms of being so well equipped.
Whilst there were only two of us staying, it is such a vast property that you could easily fit 2 families in and not feel squashed.it is so warm and cosy and just has a lovely feel to it.
We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough; the owners clearly care about their guests and want you to love it as much as they do.
A nice comfortable house, well equipped in a beautiful location.
The view from the upper lounge was wonderful and the outside
Barn was a great diversion for our two boys.
We were all sorry to leave.
Lovely property. Child and dog friendly. Has everything you would possibly need. Lovely neighbours. Garden secure for dog which was ideal and also lovely walks around the village
House has everything we could need, kitchen very well equipped, table tennis and darts for the kids plus lovely spacious relaxing areas with beautiful views across to Bute. Easy to go across to Tarbert on ferry to explore that direction or to goto Isle of Bute. Great hosts with excellent communication throughout. Thanks for a fab two weeks, we will be back :-)
After a busy week touring London and Edinburgh we were very thankful for a few days at the Four Winds in Kames to take it a bit easier. The house was lovely and the views were amazing. We enjoyed the space, stocked kitchen and having a glass of wine in the backyard. We spent an afternoon playing golf on the course near the house and were lucky enough to have it to ourselves (especially for our kids). Everyone in the town was so friendly and helpful. We wished we could have stayed longer to explore more, but we were also very content to walk around town, enjoy a couple meals out and take in the beautiful scenery. Adrien was also very communicative and great to work with. Highly recommend!
Superb property, equipped to the highest standard with everything you need, in a great setting. We enjoyed a weeks stay in October and had a great family holiday. We had a treat one morning watching deer run right past the house. Shame about the weather, but we didn’t let it stop us getting out and about., the dogs loved it too. We also enjoyed a meal at the Kames hotel, the food was excellent and the nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who made us and the dogs more than welcome. Highly recommend Four Winds.
Our family enjoyed a peaceful week at Four Winds in the quiet Kames area of Scotland (west highlands). We would gladly return!
The house was reassuringly clean when we arrived, and it was equipped with everything we needed to manage comfortably: great kitchen, bathrooms, and sitting areas, plus washer/drier, board games, DVDs, books, maps, ping pong table, fenced garden and parking area.
The views of fields, village, and loch were lovely, and the host was wonderfully communicative before our arrival and afterwards. We ate some good meals in town and enjoyed visiting local beaches and forest trails.
We needed a car to get there and travel the area, but we saw many cyclists, walkers, and sailors as well. Enjoy!
This property is a home from home. It is extremely well equipped with all the cooking equipment needed to make meals for 8 adults and lots of extras - hand wash, lots of dishwasher tabs, rinse aid etc.
3 bedrooms have en -suite and the 4th is opposite the main bathroom.
The loft area is fantastic and provided a tranquil area for my daughter to work from home while downstairs the sitting room with tv and glorious large kitchen with utility room had a huge table which could easily seat 10 and a high chair.
There is also a barn with table tennis , darts and swing ball.
The views are perfect and lots of advice about where to eat in this beautifully unspoilt part of Scotland.
My family and I had a fantastic break at Four Winds.
The house is very comfortable, spacious, cosy and very well equipped with anything you could need for your stay. We enjoyed walks through the golf course next door, as well as the short walk to the village of Kames and the seafront. Closeby we visited Donoon, Kilbride Beach and the Giant's Armchair for wonderful views.
The upstairs living area is very relaxing with fantastic views. We also enjoyed the many board games, as well as the table tennis and darts in the shed!
I would definitely recommend Four Winds and Adrian was a pleasure to deal with.
We had a great time in this comfortable spacious holiday home. It was perfect for two families with older teenagers and two dogs with a secure garden.
Well equipped kitchen with everything we needed including pizza pans for birthday pizza night.
It was lovely to have the light upstairs living room for reading or playing board games.
We didn’t need to use the cars much and just explored the immediate area. Ferry across to Tarbert for fish and chips, beach day at Kilbride bay, cake and coffee in Tighnabruaich with a visit to the gallery. The teenagers were delighted to find the secondhand shop too.
Four Winds is set in the most beautiful location on an Argyll peninsula with views across to Bute. Walks straight from the doorstep onto the golf course and several other very local walks including the beach at Ostel Bay which was perfect for us and our 2 dogs.
The house itself is immaculate, very well equiped with more games and jigsaws than I've ever seen in any holiday house (and there have been many!). The kitchen has everything you'd ever need, the only very slight issue is it's so well equiped there is very little space for food for 6 for a week. We just moved things around a little, the 2 fridges were an added bonus and we filled both!
If you want a get away from it all with amazing walks, enjoy coffee and the most amazing home made cakes then this house has all of these on it's door step. Try out Argyll Coffee Roasters and Wild Kitchen for the best coffee and cake you will ever taste! And all of the other cafes we visited also sold their products.
Four Winds was exactly what we all needed, a week chilling out in a stunning setting.
