Loved our stay

We enjoyed our stay so much. This was a wonderful location with both great proximity to the central part of town, restaurants, the grocery. All while the beautiful outdoor area of the house. The place was a nice size, did require navigating the staircases which could be hard for some. We would love to return and are so happy with our stay

Wonderful

My friend and I loved our stay here. It was a perfect end to my time in France. I loved the back yard space with the lush grass, olive trees and birds singing daily. A nicely appointed kitchen, great bathroom, beautiful window overlooking the garden upstairs. Good beds, I would definitely stay again! Nicely private too, and a grocery just across the street. Very convenient.

Great location, loads of character

We really enjoyed staying in Fontvielle, and it was such a pleasure to meet Mireille and Bernard; they were very friendly and welcoming, and had lots of good advice about places to visit. The cottage is quiet, clean and comfortable, with charming, rustic interiors and lots of room plus a table and seating in the secluded garden. The village centre, market, restaurants and square are very close by. The main bedroom is roomy , however you have to walk through it to access the second bedroom, which is in a loft with a steep ladder for access. This is in a great location for accessing Arles, Avignon, Orange and the Cotes du Rhone villages. Great value for money.

When planning our first trip to France, we wanted to experience the beauty and charm of a small French town while enjoying the people and culture. We found Fontvieille and the friendly and helpful Benoit family! The town is steeped in beauty, history, and "la douce vie" while providing easy access to all of Provence. The apartment is living history with all modern conveniences available for a comfortable stay. Mireille, Bernard, and daughter Lou, however, make this place truly special and will assist you with planning, language, problem solving, and French hospitality. Merci Beaucoup, Betty & Dennis

Nice place, hidden fees

There was one downside of this place - the creeping service fees which are not declared on the Vrbo profile. The website announces that bedding is provided, but then the owner writes to you to ask for €10 per person for sheets and towels. On arrival, you are told to use a screwdriver to clean the shower drains of hair before you leave. Then on departure, with minutes to spare, you are told to clean the whole place yourself or pay another €50. It’s not unusual to ask for a cleaning fee, but it’s normally listed upfront in the price, so the profile is inaccurate and misleading. After you book, the landlady sends a long contract, which may contain some of this information, but this is of no help to someone with limited French and English, and you see that info after you have made the booking. Otherwise, It’s a very nice converted stone building in the backyard of the very friendly landlady’s own house. There is off-street parking, a local supermarket with a butcher’s stand across the street and a bakery within a walking distance. The house is comfortable, effectively on three levels with the top two contained within the same space (think American bar with an internal balcony from the westerns). The ladder to the top level is very steep, so there are two double beds that are out of reach to small children or older people. The town is conveniently placed near Nîmes, Arles and Avignon.

Mooi huis met alles er op en eraan. Mooie grote woonkeuken. Het huis ligt midden in het centrum dichtbij alle voorzieningen. Mireille is een vriendelijke en gastvrije eigenaresse. We hebben ook al geboekt voor september en kijken er naar uit.

Die Vermieterin ist unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Garten mit lauschigem Sitzplatz ist sehr schön und gepflegt. Die Ortschaft selbst hat Charme, bietet einige Restaurants und sonstige Geschäfte und ist sehr günstig gelegen, um die Sehenswürdigkeiten der Umgebung zu erreichen.

Schöner Garten, Himmelbett und gute Ausgangslage

Der Garten ist schön, die Gastgeberin sehr freundlich, die Ausstattung gut, die Schlafetage schön eingerichtet, aber die Küche ist leider durch die Wände im Erdreich feucht und muffig. Mit Durchzug geht es und sonst haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir haben selbst geputzt und hatten Spaß mit den Katzen. Im Herbst war jetzt Mückenspray notwendig.

Le gîte est typiquement provençal. Il est bien équipé. La literie est de bonne qualité. Fontvieille est idéalement située pour visiter Arles, les Alpilles,la Camargue. Top pour les amateurs de randonnée, d'histoire (nombreux sites antiques) et de villages pittoresques.

séjour professionnel agréable

Nous sommes venus séjourner à Fontvieille dans le cadre d'un déplacement professionnel. La maison est super : il y a 6 couchages mais que une chambre à l'étage et un salon en bas, cela ne nous a pas dérangé mais c'est à prendre en compte. Aussi, la salle de bain (avec les toilettes) est reliée uniquement à la chambre à l'étage. Nous avons passé notre temps dehors sur la terrasse (qui a une prise, ce qui est très pratique) et face au jardin qui est très beau, avec beaucoup d'arbres fruitiers. Mireille est une personne très sympathique, réactive et nous avons été ravis d'être accueillis ainsi ! Il faisait très frais alors qu'il faisait très chaud à Arles : c'était super.
