About this property
Gorgeous Fam-Friendly: Easy access to Jackson Hole, Tetons, Targhee, Yellowstone
Set in the tranquil Teton Valley of Idaho, Rivendell Mountain House is on the western slope of the Teton Range, a short drive from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We are minutes from rivers, lakes, mountain trails, wildlife, and an abundance of outdoor activities. Located at the southern end of the Valley, Rivendell is roughly 30 minutes from both Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole Mountain Resorts. Both offer world class skiing in the winter and a plethora of other activities and festivals in the summer. Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are also close by and offer countless day trip possibilities and adventures.
The home is in a quiet neighborhood on the edge of Victor, so you have all the benefits of being near town, but with the feeling of being in the country with unobstructed views of the Big Hole Mountains. A short walk in the summer will take you to free concerts in the park or to the trailhead of a favorite hike.
Rivendell Mountain House offers just over four thousand square feet of living space, six bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, so is spacious enough to accommodate up to fourteen comfortably. The large kitchen has granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and bar stools for an eat in kitchen. We also provide pots, pans, plate ware, and full kitchen amenities. There are some basic cooking supplies in the pantry, and you'll just need to stop by the store for food for the pantry, and you'll be set. There are items for babies, including a high chair, sippy cups, and bibs for your little ones.
Outside, there is a grill, a covered deck, overlooking the gorgeous Big Hole Mountains, and a fire pit. In the garage, you’ll find marshmallow sticks and extra outdoor chairs ready for you to enjoy a fire as the sun sets. In the fall, you can hear the elk bugle nearby!
The upstairs living room has an over-sized leather sofa, with nicely appointed western themes, and additional seating oriented around a large fireplace. The downstairs entertainment and recreational room has a large sofa to comfortably watch movies on a giant flat screen T.V. with surround sound for a theatre-like atmosphere. There is a DVD player and a large selection of movies, along with Apple TV for access to Netflix and Other Media. You can easily access cold drinks from the nearby mini-fridge.
This room has lots of run-around space too, a drawer full of nerf guns to battle it out whether young or young at heart. There is a foosball table, Thomas the Train, Legos, and even an indoor swing. Plenty to keep children of all ages engaged. The cabinets are full of toys and a nearby closet is stocked with games.
The spacious Big Hole Mountains Master Bedroom has a King bed, one sitting chair, and two dressers. There is a master suite bathroom with a jetted jacuzzi tub and a two-headed shower. A wonderful walk-in closet is tucked in behind the master bathroom.
Bedroom 2 (The Cabin Room) sleeps two, with a queen bed, and Room 3 (The Happy Trails Room) with a Rodeo western theme has two twin beds. Both rooms share a guest bathroom. The main floor also has one additional half bath.
Bedroom 4 (The Loft) is located upstairs with 4 twin beds and a T.V. with additional seating to watch movies. This room is great for teenagers, or the singles in the group.
Bedroom 5 (The Cowboy Room) & 6 (The Grand Tetons Room) are located downstairs. Room 6 also has a King bed, and trundle bed and is attached to a bathroom, accessible to the recreation room and Bedroom 5 as well. This home sleep 16 beautifully!
Each room has plenty of storage space both in closets and in dressers.
There is a crib mattress, and a pack-n-play for little tykes so that you don't have to pack one. Also there is a handmade wooden bassinet for the tiny ones, available in the downstairs suite.
High-speed wireless is also available throughout the house.

About the host
Hosted by Mindy Noyes

Ian and I are so delighted to share our special home with you! We've dreamt about a place like Rivendell Mountain House where we could welcome weary travelers, and those that needed a break from the demands of busy work lives. We've envisioned Rivendell to be a sanctuary for families who need to draw closer, friendships to be rekindled, a retreat for you and your loved ones, or a place to base from while you adventure in the wonderful West.
Ian and I met on the Arkansas River, where I was a river guide, and he was a mountaineering guide. He took his campers down the river that I guided on and the rest is history.
We have three children, two from Ethiopia, and are an active family that loves the outdoors and going on adventures together. We find time in creation rejuvenating and also love to read around the fire or play games together.
Now, Ian works for a non-profit organization, and I am a bee-keeper, urban farmer, ceramicist, and doula.

Why they chose this property
When we moved to Victor, we were looking for a home where we could raise our family and have access to rivers, mountains, and a plethora of activities and adventures all around us. With our love for the outdoors, and an amazing meeting with the previous owners, we felt led to purchase this home. It suited us well for the four years that we lived here. However, an unexpected job change cut our time short and we moved away from the Valley. We still have many close friends here though and love to visit whenever we get the chance.
We hope to keep this home in the family for generations to come, as so many enoy the west. My father was a horse-packing guide in Colorado, and my husband and I grew up backpacking and climbing all over the Rockies. We often come out and take friends and family rafting down the Snake River, for a wonderful overnight trip.
So it is with great joy that we share with you this very special home to serve as a base for your Teton adventures. We also give 10% of all the proceeds to EduKenya, a school and community development organization in the Mathare slum outside Kenya.
There are many more details about the home that I would be happy to share with you if you are interested!

What makes this property unique
We love the sunset views out of the western side of the house! This is why we have a chair-and-a-half facing the back windows, and a fire pit in the backyard so that you can roast marshmallows and cook hotdogs over the fire! In the winter, you can ski right out of the backyard and into the field beyond and get a cross country ski in without having to drive anywhere. The proximity of our home to Jackson Hole, only 25 minutes away, to the gems of the Teton Valley, and World Class powder at Grand Targhee Ski Resort, and to Yellowstone, make this an ideal landing place. Also, the cathedral ceilings are beautiful, and well appointed 3 inch granite counter tops, and hardwood floors, and built-in speakers throughout the house to play your favorite music are just a few of the wonderful touches in the home. There is a great swing in the basement for little ones, and numerous toys for little people, as well as a doll house for young girls, and fun treasures to find for all. There is a game closet for those who would like to remain back while others go on an adventure. You'll see our 'African wall' which gives you a glimpse into our love for Africa and the people there. Welcome to Rivendell Mountain House!
