About this property

Designers adobe home available, we have deep discounts for30 days or more

Come enjoy the 2024/2025 snow season! OFFERED JUST A FEW TIMES A YEAR (nuevavidataos.com)
Casa Nueva Vida (New Life), also known as Casa Encantada #5 was combined with #4 to make one stylish space years ago. This is THE jewel property of the Casa Encantada compound with approximately 2,000 square feet of art filled space and ample outdoor space for lounging, dining or enjoying the shade and nature. Even while sitting in the hottub.

Greetings! You have found THE perfect Taos home for your visit, especially if you wish to stay in someone's HOME and not just a rental property with typical rental property furniture.
We are a well traveled and PARTICULAR couple who are seeking like minded individuals who understand high end furnishings and art. We are offering our beautiful, two-story, adobe casita within an easy walk to the Taos Plaza, restaurants and galleries, but only to a few select couples or small groups per year.

Dating back to the 1700's and sitting on land once farmed by the Tiwa tribe of the Pueblo Native Americans, our casita is an authentic example of early adobe structures. Our main structure dates back to 1910 as part of a family compound. The property then became a Bed and Breakfast in the 1980's named Casa Encantada, and then wonderfully updated in 2005 into several individual residences, retaining the Casa Encantada name.
Our special adobe home was originally two adjacent Casitas which we purchased separately and then combined to provide approximately 2,000 square feet of fabulous interior space and two fully- stocked kitchens.

Consisting of two master-suite bedrooms with private baths, a front sunroom with a fold out sofa and 1/2 bath. Enjoy our two fireplaces, one wood burning and one gas. The gas one can be used year round, the wood burning one is in the downstairs bedroom. You'll definitely find extreme detail at every turn. Enjoy our private, spacious outdoor area with plenty of room to appreciate the high desert climate. Soak in our large outdoor hot tub and watch the stars at night. Or have dinner under our beautiful portal that makes for great outdoor dining in the spring, summer and fall. Light the oil lamps in our fire pit and enjoy a glass of wine before dinner.

If you want a true Taos experience with privacy and serenity, this is the place. Our home and possessions are important to us, so we are particular. Although we would prefer parties that would not include young children (under 10), each offer would be considered on a case by case basis. We love children, we just need to have further discussion if younger than 10. Sorry, although we love them, NO pets are ever allowed. No smoking on premises. No parties or gatherings are allowed in our home, and only approved guests may enjoy it. NO daytime visitors other than those approved on the contract.

Casa Nueva Vida ESPECIALLY welcomes couples and offers consideration when the party is just two people depending on availability and we consider parties up to 4 adults on a case by case basis.

NOTE: Our renters normally stay at least 31 days or longer and you will see special discounts for long term rental. If you need a lower priced long term rental (31 days or more) or if you have friends/family that are coming at the same time, inquire about the casita next to ours owned by our daughter and her husband. Their studio is listed on VRBO as Casa Encantada #3. #636014 and is right next door, so easy back and forth access.

We're a long married couple with 2 awesome grown children and two wonderful grandchildren. We're fortunate that we have the ability to typically travel during any time period, and for any length of time we choose. We also two adjacent homes in a small surfing village, Sayulita, Mexico (sayulitavilla.com and casajoyero.com) offering 6 total bedrooms, as well as a family compound on the water outside of Austin, Texas so we can move at a moments notice for last minute inquiries that work. We're very particular about our rental partners and only allow with those that understand high end furnishing and quality care of others properties. We will provide you detailed opening and closing documents prior to arrival to assist you in any questions you may have. We prefer 31 days or more rentals and up to 6 months. Well behaved children are considered on a case by case basis, depending on age and number of children in your group.

Why they chose this property

We live on a wonderful tree lined, extremely quiet neighborhood within an easy walk to the famous Taos plaza. Located just around the corner from the El Monte Sagrado resort, you can stroll over at night and enjoy their bar and/or fine dining, as well as their spa. Our home is adjacent to wooded land owned by the Wurlitzer Foundation which is protected and private resulting in a peaceful stay fro our guests. Near complete privacy once you're in our property, you will only hear the leaves rustling and the birds singing.
During the summer, Magpies nest in the trees behind our home and you'll enjoy seeing them come in to roost around 8pm every night. Although there may be many rental homes available in Taos, there aren't many that have the history and authentic adobe structure that our home has. Massive vigas in the ceilings, thick plaster walls built over hand form bricks and diamond finish glazing on most of the walls make Casa Nueva Vida a rare find.
In addition, you have two full kitchens to cook and entertain from, as well as private outdoor space to engage with nature and your surroundings, or with close friends and/or family.

What makes this property unique

Taos is, or has been, home to many famous artists, actors, writers, musicians and poets. You'll find those who live here to be very friendly, non- judgmental, full of interested stories due to diverse backgrounds. We're also home to the Taos Pueblo, designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You can ski, float the Rio Grande River, hike the many trails nearby, mountain bike, fly fish, see incredible musicians all over town most nights, or drive the Enchanted Circle. Shopping includes strolls through not only the historic plaza but also quaint back streets including Bent, Ledoux and Dona Luz. Don't miss the tiny village of Arroyo Seco. You will see why this artist colony has lured creatives and their contemporaries from NYC, Paris and beyond since the early 1900's. Once you visit, you'll see why Taos was chosen as one of the 20 best small towns in America (#2) by Smithsonian in their May 2012 online issue.
