About this property

Maine Summer Lakehouse on Bald Head Island

'Eight Is Enough' can accommodate couples, or families with children. Stay a week, or rent the month or longer if you are a 'snow bird' summering in Maine. During the day, kayak, swim, fish, or just sit on the dock. At night, listen to the loons, peepers and crickets. Dirt roads provide great morning walks or bike rides. Fill your fridge with groceries from notorious Tobey's Market, just 5 miles away. Yes, we have high speed internet and landline phone, but no cable (that would defeat purpose of being here on island and in lake life ;-)

Tranquility in a Beautiful Setting
“8 is Enough” was well furnished and had comfortable beds and was well appointed and felt “homey”. It is well located on the lake with a wonderful swim platform and dock. There are multiple fire pits and a perfect screened in porch. The Gleason’s were very accommodating and communicative owners and our trip was perfect.

Great Fall trip for our Family
We had such a nice time staying here. It was perfect for our fall getaway! Beautiful foliage, crisp evenings, and plenty to keep us busy with the canoes and kayaks. Even the cold couldn't stop my kids from daring each other to go swimming, and jumping off the dock til their teeth chattered. The house is immaculate, and the kitchen well-stocked for cooking. It's plenty close to convenience stores and towns. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be in the summer.

Gorgeous Fall Getaway
We have been dreaming of Maine in the fall for years, but with school aged kids it’s been a difficult trip to plan. One of the silver linings of 2020 and COVID is that the kids are doing virtual learning and we were able to take them with us to Maine. The cabin is incredibly comfortable and when we walked in the first day the view from the Lakeside Lounge and the Glamping kitchen took our breath away! Our son loved kayaking and just about everything about our stay. Keith is an amazing host and was very responsive if we needed anything at all. Due to the recent drought there was a slight problem with the pump sending water from the lake up to the house. Keith was coincidentally in Maine this past week and was at the Lakehouse within 30 minutes and fixed it. He also treated the whole family to lobster dinner for our very slight inconvenience. He sure puts his guest’s satisfaction at a high priority! Thanks Keith and Heather for sharing this beautiful place with us!

Peaceful oasis.
After our plans to travel to Ireland had to be scratched this Summer. We decided to spend a week in Maine and were extremely lucky to get to stay at Eight is Enough's cottage at Sheepscot Lake. Keith is the most accommodating and helpful host that anyone could imagine. The house is charming, steps to the lake with the cleanest possible water, the location couldn't be any better so peaceful, quiet and tranquil. It's fully equipped with everything you would and need. We caught so may fish loved listening to the loons, the sunsets were amazing I really could go on for days. To top it off we saw a hummingbird as we were leaving the house on our last day and for me that was the icing on the cake as its my favorite bird. So happy our family got to spend quality time together at the most amazing location. Thank you Eight is Enough for sharing your house with us.
