After a recent complete top to bottom rebuild this Villa is readied for occupancy with all amenities and furnishings in great condition! Built high "Up On The Rocks", great ocean breezes are the norm but for the calm days every room is equipped with large ceiling fans. To ensure your comfort, super quiet A/Cs are installed in the 2 bedrooms with their 'Heavenly' Queen Size beds and en-suite Bathrooms with dual vanity sinks and walk in glass enclosed showers. Enjoy Broadband internet with WIFI, full cable TV, incl. HBO, etc. and a flat screen 'smart' TV. The open floor plan boasts dining and living areas separated by a full service kitchen with gas range, microwave, fridge with icemaker, dual sinks, coffeemaker & toaster. The custom made cabinets hold an array of pots, pans, dishes, utensils, basic spices and more to facilitate cooking, if you choose. The large covered balcony, may be your favorite room, with it's gas BBQ, patio dining furniture and chairs for just comfortably enjoying that panorama view. There is a large capacity washer and dryer for your convenience. Beach chairs, towels and an ice chest are ready to accommodate your daily excursions. COME & ENJOY!

Perfect for two couples!

We loved our stay at Up On The Rocks! The house was well-equipped and a great location with a beautiful view. We spent many hours on the porch when we weren’t touring the island! We would stay there again.

Lovely villa, spectacular view

Up on the Rocks is lovely, with comfortable beds, gorgeous bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and nicely-landscaped grounds. The property manager, Henry, was responsive and friendly. Terrific view. The driveway is very steep and takes some getting used to.

Wonderful Time

We had a wonderful time in St. John. This property was a great place to rest our heads at night after a long day in the sun, lying on the beach, swimming, and snorkeling. Comfortable, clean, and it had everything we needed and more!

“Up on the rocks” was amazing. Great views. Lovely landscape and SUPER clean with everything you need. Great location. Close to the quaint town of Cruz Bay and all of the GORGEOUS North shore beaches. We would come back in a heartbeat.

Fabulous find!

We loved our stay here. Henry was great. We caught a late ferry and he took care of getting the jeep for us. The house is perfect for 2 friends or 2 couples - 2 comfortable queen beds and 2 bathrooms. The property was clean and close to Cruz Bay. Gorgeous view and quiet neighborhood. This is a totally great place and we are so happy we found it.

Absolutely loved this place!

So relaxing. It is the perfect setup for 2 couples. The view is lovely. Town is very close if you need to run in. I will say the driveway is crazy but we had fun navigating it. Everything we needed in the house was there. Super responsive and answered any questions we had about the island. All in all, a wonderful place to stay.

Up On The Rocks is perfect in every way. Location and view couldn’t be better. The villa is equipped with everything you could possible need including an umbrella which we used almost everyday. This was our second stay here and we will be back.

Great views and close to Cruz Bay

Our accommodations were exactly as we expected. The tropical breezes on the deck were perfect. Very relaxing. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen and bathrooms were perfect. The location was close to town so shopping, food and groceries were easily accessible. It was very convenient to be close to the car ferry too. Driving to the beaches was very easy. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it.

Lovin' Up On The Rocks!

Communication prior to our arrival was fantastic! We knew just what to do and what to expect when we arrived. Henry was gracious and met us at our Jeep rental location and guided us to UP ON THE ROCKS. Upon our arrival, he made sure we knew where everything was and that we were comfortable. He was available for any questions we had. We had an amazing stay and will definitely be back!

This property was perfect for 4 people. The house was clean and well equipped with coolers, ice packs, Turkish beach towels and beach chairs. The AC was great in the bedrooms, but the main living area was very warm, despite the fans being on. We preferred to keep the sliding doors and windows closed in the living area due to the mosquitoes. The driveway is VERY steep. Tip: adjust your side view mirrors and then back in carefully with jeep in 4 wheel drive. The owner, Henry, was very accommodating and easily accessible to answer any questions. We enjoyed our 10 day stay at Up On The Rocks!

Just as beautiful as the pictures!

We could not have been happier with our stay. The house was perfect for 2 couples. We started every morning with coffee on the expansive porch, which had comfortable seating for lounging or breakfast. The porch was also perfect for enjoying a beer or drink after a day at the wonderful beaches of St. John. The kitchen was fully applianced and the gas grill availability was great. Our communication with Becki and Henry was great and nothing was left unanswered before or during our stay. The house was spotlessly clean and well equipped (towels, beach chairs, cooler) for a day at the beach. Easy access by car to 2 markets, restaurants, shopping and beaches. Thanks for everything! We will definitely be returning to Up On The Rocks!

It’s all about the view from the deck!

Lovely villa that is nicely appointed. Very convenient to all the dining, shopping, and off island excursions in Cruz Bay. Best feature is the amazing view from the porch that you will never get enough of! Also a plus to have laundry on site and great drinking water. The villa has recent updates and everything you need is there. Kitchen well appointed for cooking and grilling. We grilled some Blackfin tuna we caught with a morning of off shore trolling with capt. Josh on his 42’ boat Just Fish. Highly recommend his outfit. Henry was very helpful and laidback in the St John way. The toughest part is leaving! But without a doubt we will return.

A/C will freeze you out

Just returned from here and we loved it. We have a great view to sit out at night and watch the lights and watch the morning and afternoon views. The actual place is top notch renovation. They had everything you could possibly want. I am a home designer and wife is a real estate agent and the place is fantastic and comfortable, meaning we know our dwellings. The A/C in the bedrooms with the door shut will freeze you out, which if you have had a hot day, is a welcome night sleep. (My last visit to St John the A/C at a different villa went out and it was miserable. I thought the driveway was going to be an issue but after the 1st time and making it up backwards, I was a pro at it. This place is great for 2 couples with the split rooms and bathrooms. Gives each their own privacy. Definitely recommend this villa P.S. the villa kitty is friendly.

Wonderful place to stay, managed by wonderful people!

We recently stayed for a little over a week at Up on the Rocks. We could not have asked for a better place to stay! During the booking phase Randy answered all of questions quickly and was extremely helpful. The week before our stay we decided to change our Jeep rental from renting on St Thomas to renting in St John. Larissa was great in giving us info on jeep rentals in St John and even gave us the number of a taxi driver on St Thomas. When we arrived on St John, Henry was waiting for us on the dock. He waited for us to get our rental and then showed us to the house. At the house he pointed out a few things that you can see from the amazing deck and even the told us the best gas station to use! Everyone was wonderful, everything was wonderful and we had a great trip to St John! We are already talking about returning to Up on the Rocks!!

Worth every cent!

We can't stress enough how great our stay was at Up On The Rocks in St. John. If you are looking for a place to stay worry free, this is the place for you. The house had everything we needed and beyond! The deck with the gorgeous views was probably my favorite part of the house. Henry from Sol Villas was so nice to work with. He met us at the ferry dock, brought us to our car rental and to the house rental. He gave us tips on where to go, what to see, and was always available by cell phone if you needed him. Maho beach was our favorite beach, calm waters, the views are phenomenal, and it never gets old seeing sea turtles swimming around. Make sure to have snorkeling gear. There are plenty of places you can rent them on the island. It makes the experience so much better. Starfish Market was our market of choice for groceries. They had a good selection of meats and seafood and had a good variety of gluten free food if you are on a gluten free diet. All the restaurants on the island are great, but my favorite is Rhumb Lines. Its a Thai restaurant with Caribbean flare that is wonderful. Their food is typically spicy but they are really good about reducing the spice for you. Randy, thank you again for everything.

I would like to thank both Randy and Henry for their hospitality. We stayed at the beautiful “Up on The Rocks” April 2-10. Our trip started out with every glitch you can imagine. Our plane was supposed to arrive early afternoon and didn’t arrive until after 9 pm. It arrived without all our luggage. Our delay caused us to miss the car ferry and left us scrambling for the last people ferry over. Henry maintained my sanity all day and was a refreshing sight at 10:30 pm waiting for us at the dock. He was kind enough to bring us to the store so we would be able to have cream for our coffee in the morning. He became my hero! We lost power on the Island due to a fire a couple days later. To our surprise, Randy and Henry kept us on generator as late in the am as we needed and then at night to keep us comfortable. The island, at the time, was without WiFi. Amazingly, they got that for us too. The place is super stocked with everything including a beautiful laundry room. The view, spectacular! We also had the companionship of a cute, friendly kitty each morning and night. I can’t say enough about Randy and Henry. They made our stay wonderful. Thank you.

A dream house!

We are two couples who stayed at Up On The Rocks for nine nights. Overall, this is a 5-star unit with lots of common space but plenty of privacy for each couple. The ocean views are gorgeous as are the surrounding gardens. Inside, the beds are so comfortable you don't want to get up The en suite bathrooms have a good, full shower head and twin sinks. The kitchen has every convenience (including a gas grill on the deck and a coffee grinder!), with lots of room for multiple cooks. TV reception is excellent, and the Wi-Fi is fast. The outside area is very quiet, and the huge deck has lots of really comfortable furniture. Henry, the property manager, is very responsive to any need or question that may come up. This unit is furnished like a private home, with no effort or expense spared. One of the bedrooms has very little closet space, and only a few shelves. The other one has a bigger closet. There are no bureaus or drawers in the bedrooms. This is a minor inconvenience, and we managed just fine. Also, typical of St. John, getting up the steep (paved) driveway from the road to the unit is a bit of a challenge and takes some getting used to. I was advised to back up the driveway and forward down, since there's no room for a turnaround. I actually found it much easier to drive up and back down. But all driving on St. John takes a bit of skill, but it's so much more fun than boring highways. We had some confusion over the billing. Turns out Randy had the wrong date on my credit card, but we worked it out. Randy and Barbara are lovely and very easy to work with.

Our California home had a beautiful view of the Pacific but our lives in the civilized world were corporate encrusted, freeway driven, and mall dominated. When a business opportunity arose in the year 2000, we took a leap of faith and traded our Catalina Island view for a view of St Croix and a less complicated not so 'civilized' life in the islands. This beautiful paradise called St. John is a wonderful place to be. We like to tell first time visitors to the island: "Not many people come to St. John, just once!" It's true.

Why they chose this property

This villa is literally built 'Up On The Rocks', actually, huge boulders. These boulders and rock cliffs that make up the property provide quite a unique back drop. The home was rebuilt to be attractive to guests that insist on nicely appointed and comfortable accommodations but are also budget conscious. "Up On The Rocks" is the ideal choice for the informed island visitors who prefer to spend their time and budget at the 35 beautiful beaches and on the pristine waters that make the island such a famous place, instead of, at the villa or resort pool.

What makes this property unique

The home, uniquely surrounded by huge boulders, is perched high above the bays commanding a spectacular panorama view. It is around the hill and away from the hustle bustle of the village of Cruz Bay but conveniently located a 3 minute drive or 15 minute walk, to town. Total renovation recently completed.
