About the host
Hosted by Cathy and Ken Scott

My husband and I grew up in this area and were thrilled when the opportunity arose to purchase this cottage. Currently we can only use it during most of July and August and wish we could stay longer, especially in the fall. We purchased this place particularly for the awesome view from the deck and large windows facing the river. We love the village of Grand Bay-Westfield where you can pick up everything you need without going to the city. We also enjoy walking along the ocean beaches on warmer days where we expierience the tides at all levels. Restaurants in Saint John and Fredericton are very good offering any type of seafood you may enjoy. The butcher and bake shop in the village of Grand Bat/Westfield are excellent. There is also a popular seafood market approximately 15 min away. Many of our friends and neighbours in Alberta look forward to travelling to the Maritimes now that there is perfect place to stay. We hope you will as well.
Why they chose this property
This property is so conveniently located to everything you may wish to enjoy or visit in this area.We are approximately one hour to the U.S. border, one hour to Fredercton, 3 hours to Nova Scotia and 2.5 hours to Prince Edward Island, if your desire is to travel to PEI or Nova Scotia as part of your holiday. For those who want to stay close, there are numerous day trips to experience the tides at Hopewell Cape or just tour the Kingston peninsula with its many ferries and beautiful river views and historical cement warfs built in the early 1900's to accommodate the river boats of the period. Saint John is a port city and the oldest incorporated city in Canada. There is a tremendous amount of historical significance that can be appreciated in this city.
What makes this property unique
River front, beach front with private beach. Boat mooring, large south and east facing deck complete with a fire pit and wood. The cottage is well layed out in an open concept with large river facing windows. You will appreciate the beach type decor and cottage feel. There is nothing better than waking up in the morning and sitting on the beautiful and comfortable adirondack chairs, drinking your coffe and viewing the boats travelling up and down the river. Friday evenings are especially busy watching the sailboats and river boats travel up river to the numerous boating areas for the weekend. Some of these water craft are very impressive. We have our own private beach but there is also a public beach if you wish to drive your car directly to the beach as opposed to using our stairs. The beach is directly in front of the Morrisdale Beach Road lighthouse. There are numerous free riding ferries from the main land to all parts of the Kingston Peninsula which is a popular drive to take during the summer. There is a marina at the Evandale Ferry crossing ( 15 min drive) where you can enjoy a meal or just a cool drink. Kids are welcome to play in the pool at this oldest standing River Boat Hotel (The Eveleigh).
