Peaceful, rural location with stunning sea and valley views.

Tucked in a rural valley with sea and valley views, this lovely old building was recently renovated to a very high standard , completed July 2016.

Open plan upper floor with modern kitchen, dining table and chairs, sofa, TV, WiFi and log burner. Views down valley to sea.
Ground floor: modern bathroom with shower and washing machine and double bedroom with doors onto the large terrace.

2 terraces , one shaded by an old plum tree with a small barbeque for warm evenings

Situated in the sunny south-west of the island .Easily accessible on safe roads, 45 minutes from airport.
Small shop and bar 7 minutes on foot from house.
Local supermarket and cafe , cash machine and other small shops/cafes 4 minutes by car from house.

Ideally placed for walking the levadas . One levada accessible on foot from the house. Others , including the well-known Rabacal and 25 Fontes routes easily accessible by car .

Whale and dolphin watching trips from nearby Calheta marina with our friends at Lobosonda Whalewatching.

Karen is a wonderful host

There's nothing to complain. Karen (and the neighbours) was always helpful, the cottage was super cute and cosy, the view absolutely awesome and the location between sea and mountains was quiet and nearly perfect. We had a wonderful stay.

At home with the locals

Karen has done a fabulous job renovating this lovely property. It has the perfect layout, from top terrace views watching the sun setting with a handy BBQ. To the lower terrace where you can soak up the sun surrounded by a delightful planted garden. You will have all you need inside too. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the local bar/supermarket watching the comings and goings of the village, with the help of a few Ponchas. We would highly recommend this cute villa to anyone looking to experience the real village life of Madeira.

Sehr feine Bleibe für den entspannten Urlaub zu zweit. Die Blickrichtung ist Richtung Sonnenuntergang aufs Meer und den Berg hinauf ist man gleich in den Bergen zum Wandern.Die nächsten coolen Strände gibt es in Calheta und Madaleno do Mar. Ein feiner Supemarkt ums Eck und viele Geschäfte in Estrela (Calheta).Bei schönem Wetter kann man auch die beiden Terassen genießen und grillen oder durch die Gegend spazieren.Unmenge an Reiseführern, Kartenmaterial und Empfehlungen unseres Gastgebers liegen vor Ort.

Wir haben uns sofort wie zu Hause gefühlt. Es war wirklich alles perfekt und alles vorhanden, was man irgendwie gebrauchen könnte. Die Kommunikation war wunderbar. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und haben wirklich überhaupt nichts zu kritisieren. So ein schönes Ferienhaus, toll!

Jolie petite maison traditionnelle rénovée avec beaucoup de goût. Belle cuisine , belle SDB . Une grande chambre . Le gîte est très propre. La vue sur la mer est un peu limitée.Bonne communication avec Karen . L'arrivée s'est faite avec une boite à clef . Nous avons passé une belle semaine dans cette maison .

Ein wunderschönes Objekt, schön gelegen mit tollem Ausblick auf den Atlantik, von der kleinen Terassen und dem Frühstückstisch aus. Leider fingen in der letzten der 3 Wochen die Bauarbeiten am Gegenüberliegendem Objekt an, was die tolle Gastgeberin nicht Wissen konnte, da zwei Jahre Baustopp war.Wir werden diesrs Objekt gerne nochmals mieten.

Bel emplacement ! Nous avons apprécié notre séjour de 7 nuits. Nous recommandons cet hebergement aux futurs visiteurs. Nous donnons un 4/5, car nous avons trouvé le lit et les oreillers peu confortables et avons trouvés plusieurs insectes dans le logement durant notre passage, mais ça fait parti de l'environnement.

Ein kleines Paradies

Ein wunderbar schmuckes, kleines Häuschen, das alles hat was man braucht, wenn man zu zweit auf Madeira wohnen möchte. Es ist ein Kleinod ohne eine einzige Einschränkungen. Karen ist eine fantastische Gastgeberin mit wertvollen Tipps und kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten (zB Obst aus ihrem Garten). Eine unbedingte Empfehlung und nur schweren Herzens haben wir das Häuschen verlassen.

Lovely little house on the countryside

We really loved this house. It looks small from the outside, but inside it is big enough and everything is there. It was a pity that we could not enjoy the nice outside space because the weather was very bad when we were there.

Wunderschönes Haus

Das alte, mit viel Liebe renovierte Steinhaus ist wirklich wunderschön und ideal für Selbstversorger. Die Küche bietet absolut alles, was man braucht. WLAN und sogar LAN Anschluss sind vorhanden. Die Gastgeber Karen und Richard sind sehr liebenswerte Menschen, die sich um alles kümmern und gerne Tipps geben. In ca. 15 min erreicht man Rabacal, Ausgangspunkt einiger wunderschöner Wanderungen. Sollte ich die Insel nochmals besuchen, dann in diesem Haus.@Karen RichardThank you very much for sharing this beautiful house with us. It was nice to meet you.

Very nice accommodation, carefully prepared

A little traditional stone hut, carefully renovated containing all necessary things for a satisfying holiday stay. We found a washing machine even with washing powder. This is ideal for sportive hiking holidays. The kitchen was well- stuffed and even offered waste-bags, salt and sugar. We travelled in winter. So it was very comfortable to light the log burner in the living room to have cozy evenings. The house has a very nice view over blooming busshes (even in winter!!!) down to the sea.It is an ideal base to discover the island. One of the levada walks starts some hundred meters from the house. The landlord offered a lot of information, books and maps in the house. Everything was prepared perfectly, the check- in and check-out without any problems. We can really recommend.

Unser 1 wöchiger Aufenthalt bei Karen war fabelhaft. Das Ferienhaus ist einladend schön, sehr gepflegt und sehr sauber. Wir haben uns rundum wohl und willkommen gefühlt. Schon vor Ankunft war die Gastgeberin freundlichst bemüht uns mit Empfehlungen und Tips zu unterstützen. Sogar ein Willkommensgruß wurde für uns bereitgestellt. Die Lage ist ländlich und dennoch ist alles schnell und gut zu erreichen. Das hat uns wirklich sehr gut gefallen. Wir hatten die beste Gastgeberin die man sich wünschen kann. Wir wünschen uns daß wir in naher Zukunft nochmals Gäste bei Karen sein dürfen. Liebe Karen ganz herzlichen Dank an dieser Stelle für Deine Freundlichkeit und Dein Engagement. Hübsches kleines Haus mit Meerbl7ck

Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet und entspricht den Angaben . Die Lage ist gut. Man kann das Meer sehen. Wir haben die ganze Insel erkundet und das hat gut geklappt von hier aus. Man braucht unbedingt ein Auto.

Cozy Mountain Retreat!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cozy cottage. The cottage was very clean and perfectly peaceful. Close to markets, restaurants and cafes. Calheta is perfectly situated on the island where it is easy to drive to most areas.
