About this property

Beachfront, great views, WiFi, AC, perfect for families and friends!

Luna Azul Condominiums, Unit #4. This second-level unit has easy access to the beach and a private beachside terrace for enjoying views of Half Moon Bay. A perfect place to watch sea turtles, birds, and schools of tropical fish. This unit is fresh and bright, and very comfortable for up to 6 guests.

The unit offers a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, a coffee maker, and all the appliances that you may need to prepare your own meals or enjoy snacks and cold drinks on the beach. From the living and dining areas, you can enjoy the view of Half Moon Bay through a wall of windows and sliding doors leading to the beachside terrace. The terrace is furnished with a table and chairs for you to enjoy the breezes and sounds of the surf.

To the rear of the unit are two bedrooms. The primary bedroom is spacious and private with a large master bath and a king bed. In the primary bedroom, there is a smart TV with Netflix. The guest bedroom is furnished with two double beds and enjoys a private bath. AC in the bedrooms and the living area.

Luna Azul is one of our favorite condominium properties. It has a great central location within walking distance to Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon, restaurants, and other services. The management here is excellent and always takes great care of our guests.

The Riviera Maya is full of natural beauty, places to explore, and opportunities for outdoor activities. We have a great list of activities and adventures, completely unaffected by the arrival of Sargasso, that we would love to share with you. There is so much to see and do in this special place, and we know that you will have an amazing and memorable vacation!

Reviewer Comments: Nicely appointed, clean, with a great view in a perfect location. Walk to beach, cenote, restaurants, and small stores. Sargassum can be an issue but that's along the entire coast.Only critique is the after hours check in. We almost got a hotel because we could not locate the security guard who had the key and no one answered the contact phone number for help.

Having 2 beds in the second bedroom worked out perfectly. Luna Azul is very close to two nice restaurants (La Lunita and Buena Vida) and a small grocery store. It’s also only a 10 min walk to Yal Ku lagoon where we enjoyed calm snorkeling with a lot of beautiful fish. We also walked to the small town center of Akumal and at Pescador restaurant about a mile away from the condo. It was very windy during our stay which made snorkeling off our beach very difficult unfortunately.

Not natural, polystyrene bed linen, from which it is unpleasant to sleep and the skin itches. And very poor quality frying pans and pots, all scratched. Only hot water comes out of the shower when you turn on the cold faucet.

The hairdryer did not work, and there were no small bowls in the unit. If you tip the housekeeping staff every day, then you get a lot better service versus then tipping at the end.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 3rd time at Luna Azul. The location, the beach, the staff were all tremendously helpful. When we needed shuttles to Tulum, Puerto Adventurous, COVID tests, any extra towels etc... they were right there. The cleaning staff was super flexible, and the beaches were kept clean each day. We had NO sargassum until the last day, so everything was pretty. The weather was perfect. We plan on coming here every year for many more. We ate breakfast at Turtle Bay every day, and expereinced dinners at LBV, Turtle Bay, Tavernia, Pescadora, and La Lunita. Even spent a day snorkling at Ya-Kul. can't wait until next year!

Secure behind a gauded gate, the quaint brick paved streets and landscaped gardens led us to the Luna Axuls ocean swept arch to into the courtyard, to see turquoise water. Our senses were filled.The condo was very comfortable. I loved the firmness of the beds and couches no sinking to hurt my back. Because of the well designed rooms no a/c was needed, the gentle rythum of the waves, rocks you to sleep. The bay is most swimable!!! Even for kids. Mostly waist high 200+ ft out. Great food walking distance-best snorkeling at Yal ku & Akumal bay. Both walking distance.But please be careful tourists have all but killed the coral reefs w sunscreen n Finn's-& carelessness!! See these natural wonders before they are no longer here, dispite government intervention to save them and bring them back!!Better than Hawaii better than Virgin islands better and closer than Tahiti ! My fav spot!! My only complaint Tell Beinavirda Restaraunt to invest in better napkins!!

A beautiful apartment, beach full of sargassum

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really loved the location of the apartment, on the photos! But they seem to be old and the beach has changed over the years. There is a very small and steep piece of beach in front of the house, not such a wide strip as visible on the photos. We stayed March/April and there were tons of sargassum everywhere around. It’s a difficult issue, but after a week it started smelling very bad, so we couldn’t stay on the balcony at all. Other condos had staff cleaning at least the old rotting sargassum away, but ours didn’t. That was a pity, as we chose this apt because of the lovely location right on the beach. The view was stunning, beautiful sunrise with a pleasant shade from the palm trees in front of the house.The decoration was beautiful, same as on the photos. The guest book said the apartment would get cleaned every day, it was only every second day, which was no issue for us. It was very clean, we only had an issue with some mini ants...they were literally everywhere in the kitchen when having food around. Not overnight! WHILE preparing breakfast for 10min, and we had to wash dishes immediately, not possible to leave them in the kitchen/sink for an hour while enjoying the view after a meal. Late check-in worked perfectly, during check out there was no one in the office, so we handed our keys to the cleaning lady.We enjoyed our time, but would not come back.

A recent windstorm had knocked out power to our condo building and the one next door. The manager was able to provide a different unit in a different building until the power was restored. I was fearing a long wait for the utility to restore power but it was restored just after breakfast the next morning. Snorkeling in Halfmoon Bay is excellent, especially the north half of the bay.

lovely condo, great views

The layout of this condo is great - very comfortable seating, well-equipped kitchen, fabulous views. We missed that the building does not have a pool, which would have been nice given that the seas were pretty rough for our first couple of days. That said, this is a super clean, well-kept unit, and we would definitely book again.
