Carmagnac – Adults-Only Luxury Retreat with Private Hot Tub

Jane and Richard first met in 2001, brought together by a shared love of France, hospitality and restoring beautiful places. While building successful careers in hospitality, facilities management and electrical engineering in the UK, we shared a long-held dream of creating somewhere special in France — a place where people could escape, slow down and feel completely at home.

That dream eventually brought us to the Charente and to Carmagnac.

Over the years we have carefully restored and developed the property, combining the character of traditional French buildings with the comfort, quality and attention to detail we would expect when travelling ourselves.

Carmagnac is our home, not simply a holiday rental, and we genuinely enjoy sharing it with our guests. We believe good hospitality is about getting the balance right: a warm welcome, being available whenever we are needed, and then giving our guests the privacy and space to enjoy their time together.

We particularly love introducing visitors to this quieter corner of France — from beautiful villages and local markets to restaurants, vineyards and places that are sometimes missed by the traditional tourist trail.

Carmagnac isn’t simply a holiday rental—it’s our home, and we believe our guests deserve the same quality, comfort and attention to detail that we enjoy ourselves.

Nestled in the rolling countryside of the Charente, you’ll find peace, stunning views, incredible wildlife and dark star-filled skies, yet you’re within easy reach of beautiful villages, vineyards, markets and historic towns.

Inside you’ll discover a kitchen equipped to a standard rarely found in holiday accommodation, from quality cookware and baking equipment to premium crockery, sharp knives and thoughtful extras that make longer stays effortless.

Outside, relax in your private hot tub, enjoy breakfast on the terrace, watch deer and birds from the garden, or simply unwind with a glass of wine as the sun sets over the countryside.

Our aim has always been simple: to create the kind of place we would want to stay ourselves—a peaceful, luxurious retreat where every detail has been considered and every guest leaves feeling refreshed, relaxed and already planning their return.

Carmagnac is an adults-only luxury retreat for two, officially classified as a 5-star Meublé de Tourisme, set in the peaceful Charente countryside of southwest France.

Created as part of our own home, Carmagnac has been furnished and equipped with the same emphasis on quality, comfort and attention to detail that we value ourselves.

Designed exclusively for couples, the retreat offers a private hot tub with panoramic countryside views, full air conditioning, a king-size Tempur bed and an exceptionally well-equipped kitchen. Your private terrace is perfect for breakfast, evening meals or simply relaxing and enjoying the peace of the surrounding countryside.

Wake to birdsong, enjoy wonderfully peaceful days and unwind in your private hot tub beneath clear, star-filled skies.

Carmagnac is ideally placed for exploring the Charente and beyond, including Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, Brantôme, Angoulême and Cognac, with Saint-Émilion and Bordeaux making excellent day trips.

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, exploring southwest France or simply looking for somewhere peaceful to spend time together, Carmagnac combines official 5-star Meublé de Tourisme standards with privacy, comfort and genuine tranquillity.

For two adults only. Minimum stay: 3 nights.
