Seren House is in a brilliant location and provides a light, comfortable and high quality retreat at any time of the year. It's just a short 5-10 stroll to all the beaches in St. Ives, so ideally placed for surf as well as walks, restaurants, pubs and shops - but still far enough from it all to enjoy a quiet getaway.
Seren House is well equipped and spacious, making it the perfect base for extended families holidaying together, couples and keen surfers, with lots of storage for boards and wetsuits and an easily accessed downstairs shower room.
Set over three floors it boasts five attractive bedrooms, three bathrooms and an en-suite WC for the attic room as well as sea views from the upper floors.
At the rear of the house is a large, steep, terraced garden with fantastic sea views.
We have off-road parking for one medium and one large vehicle. Additional on street parking may be available by purchasing daily residents permits but please request well in advance. There are also several nearby car parks.

About the host
Hosted by Gavin Bruce
We have been visiting St Ives since 1998 when we met at the famous New Year's Eve celebrations. We immediately fell in love with the place and finally realised our dream to buy a house a few years ago. We are both teachers and have two girls and a little black dog who can't get enough of the place. We come down as often as we can but really like the fact that other people can make the most of Seren House.
Why they chose this property
'Seren' means star in Cornish and the stars certainly shine brightly in St Ives. The House is situated in 'Upalong' and was build in the late 1800's when the railway arrived offering an alternative to the traditional fisherman's cottages. Unlike many of the holiday properties in St Ives, it has lots of space and is accessible without having to climb steep hills or battle with heavy traffic on busy changeover days. It benefits from being close to the shops, cinema, theatre, pubs and restaurants but far enough away from the main street that you can relax in peace and quiet. Seren House is equidistant from all five beaches that are so unique, it can feel like you are on a different holiday every day.
If you enjoy surfing, boogie boarding or stand up paddle boarding it's a short walk over the hill to Porthmeor, a stunning surf beach with really consistent waves. If art is more your thing you can spend hours ambling through the town to Downalong where you'll find a plethora of galleries including the Barbara Hepworth Museum at the end of our road and the Tate St Ives.

What makes this property unique
The accommodation is very flexible and we have arranged the house to comfortably sleep as many people as possible. We often spend a week with three families in the house. The three double bedrooms; the Master bedroom, Rear Double and Attic Room are spacious and luxurious for adults with double or king sized beds and an ensuite bathroom in the Master bedroom and half bathroom in the Attic. These are light and airy with only the sound of the gulls to lull you to sleep.
The two bunk rooms have triple beds in them which mean that they are fairly bijou but does mean that you can sleep up to six children or a combination of adults and children. We find that the kids love to share the bunks with their friends and spend most of the day exploring the beaches or playing in the large lounge/diner so it works perfectly for us.
Check out what our guests say about Seren House!
