About the host
Hosted by Martine and Phill
We are a retired respectful professional couple living in West Yorkshire, in the UK.
We have previously enjoyed many holidays in Spain over the years and we had purchased a large apartment in Guadalmina (Marbella) as a base, back in 1999.
Now having enjoyed the Costa del Sol for nearly 18 years and retired, we decided to move on and we purchased our delightful detached private family holiday home in Calahonda in 2016.
Formally Phill owned his own motor trade business in East Yorkshire for many years, and Martine who was born and raised in Hong Kong, was a pharmacist in the Mirfield and Wakefield area all her working life.
We have previously enjoyed many holidays in Spain over the years and we had purchased a large apartment in Guadalmina (Marbella) as a base, back in 1999.
Now having enjoyed the Costa del Sol for nearly 18 years and retired, we decided to move on and we purchased our delightful detached private family holiday home in Calahonda in 2016.
Formally Phill owned his own motor trade business in East Yorkshire for many years, and Martine who was born and raised in Hong Kong, was a pharmacist in the Mirfield and Wakefield area all her working life.
Why they chose this property
We really feel totally at home in Calahonda now, we enjoy having professional respectful neighbours and having now got to know the area so well, and having made so many new friends here, it's great.
We just love the villa's tranquil location with so many near by excellent restaurants, bars, shops, supermarkets, banks, pharmacy's and beautiful beaches and all within easy walking distance.
The close by, the newly built Senda Litoral (coastal boardwalk) stretches from La Cala in the East all the way to Cabopino Marina in the West. A very easy and pleasant walk with wonderful views of the beaches, with many bars and restaurants along the way!
Calahonda is an excellent base from which to visit other areas of Southern Spain and Portugal and with excellent air, road and rail links.
Calahonda is also a very safe area with a 24 hour on site security personal who patrol the urbanisation day and night, they are based at the big roundabout at the bottom of the Avda de Espana.
We just love the villa's tranquil location with so many near by excellent restaurants, bars, shops, supermarkets, banks, pharmacy's and beautiful beaches and all within easy walking distance.
The close by, the newly built Senda Litoral (coastal boardwalk) stretches from La Cala in the East all the way to Cabopino Marina in the West. A very easy and pleasant walk with wonderful views of the beaches, with many bars and restaurants along the way!
Calahonda is an excellent base from which to visit other areas of Southern Spain and Portugal and with excellent air, road and rail links.

What makes this property unique
But the really big plus to our villa making it "exceptional" is the beautiful large south facing sunny terrace with it's alfresco dining, plenty of comfy outside rattan furniture sunbeds, electric awning and parasols, oh bliss!!
There's more, the fabulous and little used 12 metre pool is just through our garden gate, and is overlooked directly from our garden terrace, amazing!!
Our garden terrace is a mass of colour almost year round, with purple bougainvillea, birds of paradise, red hibiscus, white jasmine, lots of geranium's, several palm trees lots of fruit and nut trees. Beat that Monty Don!!
