ENTIRE PHOTOGRAPHERS LOFT
If you’re looking for a slice of classic loft living with individual style, then my 80-square metre home is for you.
As an Artist, I am often out of London and have decided to make my loft-style warehouse home available to guests. You will have access to the entire apartment.
The warehouse is in lively Bethnal Green, just 2 minutes walk from Bethnal Green Underground Station (zone 2). My apartment is a relaxed open-plan, light-filled live/work space with high ceilings, a loft-style platform bed that overlooks the living space, concrete floors, galley kitchen, a spacious living/dining area, separate bathroom (shower only) and lots of eclectic decorating features. Fairy lights give the space a warm, magical feel and my plants help make the place feel homely.
The open living space is arranged to provide a cosy area for relaxing, with two comfy leather sofas and an armchair, a TV, amplifier (cable provided for connecting laptop or iPod) and DVD player. Behind is a large dining table on wheels that seats four, which can easily be moved to accommodate a second double mattress. The kitchen is fully equipped for home cooking and dining (help yourself to condiments!) plus there is also a washing machine. There is only one bedroom (with comfy mattress) on a platform above the entrance to the apartment, which is private and shielded from the rest of the space, yet remains part of the open-plan interior. As mentioned, there is a second double bed near the windows in the main apartment.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Just 17 minutes on the Central Line from Oxford Street and a 15-minute walk to the restaurants, bars and boutique shops of Shoreditch, the apartment is in the heart of London’s famous East End. Right around the corner are bars, pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, shops, 24-hour off-licence stores, ATMs, parks, art galleries and Paradise Row – one of London’s hippest new hangouts in the arches near the station.
The apartment is conveniently located for London’s coolest street markets: Colombia Road’s famous Sunday flower market is a 15-minute walk, as is Broadway Market with its artisanal food stalls on Saturdays, plus cool restaurants and bars. Brick Lane Market is a 10-minute walk away (Sunday only – check out Up Market, too), as is Spitalfields Market.
There is easy access to Victoria Park or London Fields by bus or by foot, with smaller parks like Weaver’s Fields, Museum Gardens and Regents Canal close by. Hackney, too, is only a stone's throw away (if you fancy watching a film, Hackney Picturehouse is one of London’s best cinemas) and getting into Central London (Soho, Southbank, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben) couldn't be easier, with the Tube just moments from the apartment.
Bethnal Green is one London’s most diverse areas with a cool mix of restaurants, pubs, bars and pop-ups opening every week – if you want to stay somewhere lively, you won’t be disappointed by what’s on your doorstep.
GETTING AROUND
Bethnal Green Underground Tube station (central line) is a 2-minute walk from the apartment.
There are bus stops 1 minute walk away
Rental bikes are available across the road
