Apartment Barrio Alto, Ljubljana is a charming old town apartment sleeping 2 in a beautiful historic building in one of the most sought after locations in the centre of Ljubljana. Gornji trg or "Upper Square" is overflowing with old town charm and home to some of the city's best restaurants and bars, but remains a very peaceful location and is the start point for walks up to the lovely green spaces and historic buildings on Castle hill. The apartment itself is located in a magnificent building dating back to 1763 (renovated 2005) and located on the first floor. Completely renovated in 2016 the apartment comprises high quality shower room, open plan living room with sofabed / dining area with fully equipped kitchen and a separated sleeping area with double bed. With 3.5m high vaulted ceilings the apartment has an abundance of charm in a fantastic old town location in easy walking distance to all the main attractions of the historic centre of Ljubljana. Internet, TV, dishwasher, oven, clothes washing machine and dryer on request are among the many facilities.

At the quiet end of Old Town, this apartment has all the amenities and charm I could ask for. The owner Pia was friendly and accessible. I loved my time there and would definitely stay there again.

Marvelous base in Ljubljana's old town

We enjoyed the nice tiny appartement to explore Ljubljana's old town as well as the rest of the country. A quiet place in the heart of the town where the main pedestrian area starts with many restaurants, bars and shops. We enjoyed the vivid city life during our relaxed stay and started exploring the countryside with it's green nature and places of world heritage. A wonderful place for a holiday we strongly recommend.

Great Location!

We had a great stay at Barrio Alto! The location was amazing for accessing the old city of Ljubljana. We loved being in walking distance to everything, including the castle. The apartment was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We loved the charm of the building as well. Parking was not an issue for us as we’re happy to walk a ways, but if you need to be able to park really close, be sure to look into the options provided by the host.

Excellent quiet lication

Communicating with the owner through WhatsApp made everything smooth and seamless. Pia’s recommendations from dinner to ice-cream and transportation were spot on. She was kind enough to arrange for taxi pick up which was above and beyond. The space is roomy. Shower is excellent and beds were very comfortable. The location allowed us to easily walk the area and see the sights.

September at Barrio Alto

Lovely modern apartment in very old building. Everything we needed for a short stay( 5 days ). Pia & Dan most welcoming & helpful. The only thing wrong was the weather! After 2 days it absolutely poured down but we still managed to get about without a car. Especially enjoyed the City Museum, the puppetry museum at the Castle And the Botanical museum at the Castle

Perfect apartment in a fabulous location!

We are so thankful Púa approved our request to stay at Barrio Alto! The apartment itself is lovely. Very comfortable bed, nice bathroom, comfortable sofa, and nice kitchen! It looks over a courtyard and we enjoyed watching the neighbor’s kitties play. The access to a washer AND dryer was exceptionally welcome as this was an 8 night stop in a 2 1/2 month journey. The location also could not be more perfect. Restaurants, museums, shops, bakeries, grocers, etc are everywhere and such fun walking around Ljubljana. We had a rental car and were able to park about a 6-7 minute walk from the apartment. The car also allowed us to visit other areas of Slovenia as well as Croatia - all easy half day trips! Thank you, Pia for all of your help and kindness!

Good location and facilities. Comfortable.

Only room for one, or two very good friends, but TV sofa, cooker, hob, toaster, good selection of cooking pots and utensils and free WIFI. Shower, toilet and washbasin all work well. Storage cupboard. Didn't need the heating, so cannot comment. Very comfortable. Minor points: I couldn't get the fan in the hood over the hob to work. I just opened a window. One of the mains sockets didn't work, and another was working, but coming away from the wall. Overall very comfortable and convenient. Recommended.

Many thanks for your comments, the instructions for the heating are in the apartment and guests can set it to their own comfort and we would have also been more than happy to come and adjust the temperature for you if you had contacted us. As for natural light, there are three windows, two in the living room and one in the bedroom and other guests have not mentioned that it is dark, but appreciate that perhaps the weather was not the best during your stay.

Had three nights in Slovenia and enjoyed our stay at Pia’S and Dans place. Due to data issues, we were late but walked right into Pia and her delightful twins. She instantly got us in then returned to her kids who were on their way to a party. Great location near some wonderful restaurants.
