We stayed for two nights at this cabin. Nice private setting overlooking the lake. Great views. No AC, but as it is a log home, the thermal mass of the logs kept it cool. We would recommend, especially if you do not mind no WI-FI or cell phone reception, which we almost prefer.

The cabin was wonderful inside and out. Private and secluded. Although located across the lake from the recreational facilities at Silver Lake Park, the cabin is nestled in the trees in such a way that the open view is looking across the lake at undeveloped shore. The only down side of the location is that, in peak season there is quite a bit of people noise during the day. Mornings and evenings were perfect. I would give a 5 star rating if not for the noise. We liked the cabin so much that we will probably come back in the off season. The Mt Baker Lodging were very nice, and helpful above and beyond. To anyone who going to the cabin for the first time: Finding it can be confusing. The property addresses are not in sequence for some reason. We didn't realize this and sure that we had overshot without finding the cabin, we finally had to return to Mt Baker Lodging for clarification. Actually, you just need to keep going on Forest Creek Rd until you come to a trail of "#97" markers that will lead you there.

Hi Steve: Thank you for the great review for family Cabin #97! We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable time at the cabin, and we look forward to hosting you again in the future! Respectfully, Dan
We had a lovely stay. It’s not directly on the lake, you do have to walk down a hill so if you’re differently abled it’s not a great fit.
Cabin does not have internet which I did not see anything about in the booking. I was supposed to work all weekend and was massively disappointed.
Finding the cabin is pretty hard. Google maps is completely incorrect and I luckily found someone to flag down that helped me find it. Hopefully instructions get more clear

Hi Ariannah: Thank you for the 5-star review for family Cabin #97! We are delighted to hear that you had "a lovely stay". I'm not sure exactly where you parked(??), but the driveway leads right up to the front door of the cabin. You are absolutely correct in that the cabin does not have wifi. That info is included on the listing. We're sorry that you didn't see it. We agree that the initial trip to the cabin can be a bit daunting. We've tried to make the map a bit more understandable and easier to read. We hope that you had an opportunity to take advantage of the boat dock and the fireplace during your stay. Many thanks for the exceedingly neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was truly a pleasure hosting you. We would highly recommend you to other hosts, and we look forward to seeing you again during your next visit to the Mt. Baker area :) Happy trails, Dan
Beautiful cabin in remote location. Definitely need to follow directions the management company gives you to get to the cabin on the private road. Better signage would make it easier to find. The cabin has a great view, over looking the lake. Must walk down hill a ways to get to dock. Has two different paths to get there. 2 beds downstairs on main floor, one upstairs in loft. Loft appears larger, but a portion of it is blocked off for owners private property.
The property is secluded on a cove of the main lake. Must be good fishing, because several boats were camped out there during the day. We brought a kayak and paddle boards and used them all during our stay.
There was a mix up with scheduling with the owner, which made for an odd encounter, but it was straitened out with the management company.
We enjoyed our escape from reality in this beautiful cabin on Silver Lake

Hi Lynda: Thank you for the great review for family Cabin #97! We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable stay, and that you found it to be a "beautiful cabin in a remote location". Good point about following the very detailed instructions/directions provided with the check-in materials, as the adjacent property owners do not permit us to post signs on their privately owned property. We hope that you had an opportunity to take advantage of the outdoor BBQ and the indoor fireplace during your visit. Many thanks for the exceptionally neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was truly a pleasure hosting you. We would highly recommend you to other hosts, and we look forward to seeing you again during your next visit to the Mt. Baker area :) Happy Trails, Dan
This home was perfect in every way. 95 degrees - cabin surrounded by trees and kept cool at night just bring enough fans during the day. Easy access to the dock. You can pick up the keys after closing time but I would recommend while the office is still open to get directions down pat since it is a little maze getting back there. Cabin #97 is the very last cabin on the road and there are several Y's where the road splits, one lane only and select points where you can pull off to the side only. The office gave us perfect directions.
The only thing that was a bummer, there was no dishwasher. ****Bring all your spices and oils S&P, ect, garbage bags COFFEE and outdoor chairs for the dock and fans*** I'm used to this kind of packing but many are not.
This is a perfect off the grid, nice clean, QUIET rental and so cute. We seen eagles each morning fly closer than ive every seen betwen the trees! We drove almost 4 hrs to get the but was worth it. Wish we stayed another night.

Hi Salina: Thank you for the great review for family Cabin #97! We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable stay, and that the cabin "was perfect in every way". Good point about picking up the keys during office hours. That always helps, as we can provide verbal directions in addition to the maps. We do provide a basic "spice bag" with the essentials such as salt, pepper, coffee, cooking oil, etc., but it is just a starter pack to get things moving in the right direction. We will share your kudos regarding the cleanliness of the cabin with our housekeeping team. They will be equally thrilled! We're happy to hear that you had an opportunity to take advantage of the boat/fishing dock during your visit. Many thanks for the neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. Fishing Trip 2019
We had a Great stay. This is fishing in luxury. We arrived on Thursday and stayed until Monday, and felt like we did not want to leave. There was enough room for everyone, the beds were so comfy. It was hard to get up to go fishing in the mornings. The kitchen was small but we were able to get around and get our meals prepared. The cabin was clean and tidy. The access to the lake was good. Little trail off the back of the house was easy to navigate. Also able to launch my little boat down by the dock. Some of us fished off the dock and were able to catch fish from the dock. We all agreed the this is something we want to do again. The area was private and quiet. The views of the lake were spectacular. We had my daughter come up and we did family photos because it was so beautiful. In the evenings we played games. That were there in the cabin. We stayed up until midnight each night because we did not want the day to end. For the reader in our group there was a shelving unit full of books to choose from. There is a tv monitor to be able to watch movies. Each bed had enough blankets, and it looked as though the top quilt was hand made and very beautiful on each bed. The cabin deco was "cabin camping" coordinated. I am going to be recommending this cabin to all of my camping friends.

Liked: Communication, location
Basic amenities didn't match cost
The location, on the lake, was lovely, though it sat up on a hill, not directly on the water. There was a sweet path that wound down the hill, through the woods to access the lake.
We splurged a bit to get this rental, compared to other local properties, so our expectations were admittedly high. Sadly, we found the property somewhat lacking. As there was no cell or wifi, we had hoped for better quality of games and movies as an alternative.
There was a tremendous amount of thick dog hair that was blowing around when we aired out the cabin, and lots of dust, dog hair, dead bugs and spiderwebs throughout . I imagine it must be difficult to keep a log cabin clean, but again, the price point...
The mattress was very firm, so much so that it hurt my 8 month post-operative hip to lie on it. We decided to put extra blankets under the bottom sheet, but they all smelled like dog. We washed them, but couldn't dry them because the dryer was broken. There was an outdoor clothesline on a pully next to the deck, but it was stuck, and too high to reach from the ground. Also, no bleach to wash the kitchen towels that smelled of mildew.
There were lots of rules for the property, but no outdoor garbage bin, "required" for check out procedure. Little outdoor seating, NO beach chairs or seating at the water, no flyswatter, and watch out for the soft spot in the deck.
Lovely location, but the cleanliness & missing items didn't make this as relaxing a spot as we had hoped.

Hi Theresa: Thank you for your review for family Cabin #97. We are delighted to hear that you found that "the location on the lake was lovely". You are absolutely correct that the cabin does not sit at the water level, and is not advertised as such. You probably also noticed that every other cabin on the lake was similarly situated. This is due to the fact that the lake is spring fed and the water table periodically raises and lowers. The slightly higher elevation compensates for that. We understand completely that everyone has a targeted budget and we always use that criteria in trying to match our Guests with a property that works well for them. That being said; the cabin is indeed rustic and the price point is significantly less than most lake side homes in the area. You are correct in that there is no cell coverage or wifi (and none is advertised). Because of this, the cabin is equipped with a land line. There is a small selection of games and movies, but it is impossible to know exactly what every Guest's movie and game preferences
are. That's why it's always a very good idea to do a bit of advance planning in preparing for your stay. We sincerely apologize for the dust and dog fur that you found. While the cabin is indeed pet-friendly, evidence of that from previous Guests should never be found by current Guests. As a vacation rental agency, we employ staff to assist our Guests whenever the needs arises (or if they just have questions in general). Sadly, we did not hear from you at any time during or subsequent to your 3-night stay. Again; please accept our sincerest apologies. Our housekeeping staff ordinarily receives very high marks from our Guests, but they obviously missed the mark here. We hope that you had an opportunity to take advantage of the private boat/fishing dock and BBQ during the beautiful summer days, and the indoor fireplace during the cooler summer nights. Respectfully, Dan
Perfect in every way. Everything you need for a extended stay was provided. It hurt us to part ways with this charming cabin on the lake. Peaceful and picturesque, highly recommended!!! Thank you.

We enjoyed our family gathering at this cabin. The fact that there wasn’t cell service or internet was a big plus for us as a way to get away from it all. The fishing on the dock was fun in spite of no fish being caught. It’s a relatively short drive from the cabin to the Mt. Baker visitor area and the day we went was beautiful. Being able to bring our dog made the visit even more fun.

Pros-Beautiful spot, the lake is stunning, sunset was amazing, cabin is clean, comfortable, and well put together. Overall its a nice fairly private spot.
Cons-As I read reviews before booking, I read one about difficulty with directions. I wrote it off to someone who struggles with such things. I was incorrect to do so. When I spoke with the management company enroute they said just follow the odometer references in the directions, and that the road signs were all screwed up. What I found was the road signs are fine, but the cabin house numbers is the issue. As you come in along the lake and see the vertical house numbers at each cabin DO NOT think you missed it when 9092 is not right after 9091. The numbers start at 903X and go up to 9091 then jump to like 9135 then 92xx...no 9092 which is what you need for what they call "cabin #97".. Do yourself a favor and drive along the lake through the cabins and ignore the address numbers. Just go until you see the little white flags along the road that say cabin 97 and follow them in. We figured it out but turned around twice because we could not figure out why 9092 wasn't next to 9091.
No access thru the porch door. You drive up to an entrance with a nice cover porch. This would seem to be the obvious enterance and it goes into a little mud room which is nice as this is a no shoes dwelling. We were not given a key for this door and had to go around on to the deck to enter. The steps to the deck are not uniform, with the last step up being half again as high as the other two steps. Coming down in the rain made this treacherous as the first step down was really slippery and there is no hand rail. To top it off, all three entry doors have dead bolts that are keyed on both sides so even once we were in we could not unlock the porch door for use. I moved the mat around from the porch to the deck steps so we didn't slip.
There is a very wide set of steps going down off of the front/lake side of the deck, there is about 3 feet of slopping ground at the bottom of the steps then an approx. 60 ft steep brushy drop to the lake. If I still had young kids, I would not be able to relax for a second. They seem pointless and dangerous.
There is a nice dock with an umbrella base but no access to said umbrella (shade) or any chairs. Bring folding chairs if you want to sit by the lake in the eve.
Weekdays were very peaceful, neighbors were obnoxiously loud on the weekend. They don't observe the quiet after 10 rule.

Hi Thomas:
Thank you for your 4-star review of family Cabin #97! We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable stay despite the issues that you faced initially in locating the cabin. In this regard, I believe that their might have been a bit of a misunderstanding, as I tell our Guests (yourself included) to ignore the street addresses (not the street signs) and to follow the printed directions implicitly. This will get you to where you want to go. For some reason, in their "infinite wisdom", our county planning department decided that having helter skelter addresses would work just fine...it doesn't. That why we went to great detail in preparing the map with directions. At the time of check-in, you were provided with keys to all doors, and all keys were subsequently returned to us. We're not sure why you experienced a problem accessing the front door (the intended point of ingress/egress) but we didn't have a problem accessing the cabin with the same keys to clean/service it subsequent to your departure. That said; we will keep an eye on the lock sets, as one of them may be working intermittently and is on its way out. Noise carries across the lake so, while it is usually quiet after dark, regular outdoor conversations across the lake can sometimes be heard at the cabin. Many thanks for the neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we look forward to seeing you again during your next visit to Mt. Baker :) Happy trails, Dan

Beautiful view- so serene
Cozy little cabin, very secluded with a wonderful view of Silver Lake. we could sit on the deck for hours and just take in the scenery. The bedrooms were tiny but comfortable. The kitchen was pretty well equipped, but honestly- no salt, pepper or cooking oil?? That seems pretty basic to me. I have stayed at a lot of VRBOs, but never one that didn't supply those simple items. I would have given it 5 stars except that the directions to the cabin were so bad. After driving up and down the road several times we finally gave up and went back to the rental office and they had to lead us. The directions should have said that the house numbers were completely out of sequence and we needed to drive all the way to the end of the road. Pretty frustrating, but once we were there, we loved it.

Hi Marcia:
Thank you for your review of Cabin #97! We are very pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable time. Yes, the view is spectacular. When servicing the cabin, I often take my lunch and just sit on the deck overlooking the lake...so peaceful! Due to local Health Department regulations, we are unable to provide any form of "food product consumables" (including spices and condiments). This information is included in the materials that are sent to our Guests at the time of reservation, so that they can prepare for their stay accordingly. We are sorry that you didn't read that ahead of time. The cabin is definitely somewhat remote...and that's the charm, so our map with driving directions is very specific. We can't post signs on other people's property, so you have to pay close attention to the directions, and that will lead you in. I would add that the cabin is booked virtually every weekend during the prime summer and winter rental seasons, and we don't typically receive any commentary regarding guest's ability to find the cabin. Many thanks for the respectful way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we look forward to seeing you again soon :) Happy trails, Dan
