Beautiful, Midtown location, near bike trail and has 2 living rooms
The house is kept up and absolutely gorgeous. The house is in a great neighborhood and is very quiet. The house has huge windows and you will feel close to nature when you see the 30' pine tree out front or see the cute squirrel running across the fence line in the back. Pick some fresh apples from the trees in late August once they are ripe.
The house is a bi-level house with 9 stairs going to the front door. This house has 2 full size living rooms and 2 full size kitchens. Having 2 refrigerators is definitely handy with a big group. The second kitchen will help if one family has picky eaters. Dinner can be prepared at the same time. The upstairs can seat 12 people with a side table set up. It has 2 more bedrooms and another full bathroom. There are 15 steps going downstairs. The living area is bigger than the upstairs kitchen/living room area. It has a big 55" TV, three full size couches. The dining room table seats 6. Plus a counter that seats another 3. In the corner there is a queen bed to eliminate the use of the blowup mattress. But if it is needed there is still plenty of room if we move a couch.
The coastal trail is close by for a morning jog or afternoon walk. Shopping is only .25 miles away and downtown is only 2 miles away. It is a straight shot on the Seward Hwy which is right there. Moose's Tooth pizza is Anchorage's best pizza and is only 1 mile away. Amazing pizza and home brewed beer.
Downtown has many things to offer. Shopping, sightseeing, bike rentals, coastal trail and even fishing. Many restaurants and bars to eat delicious food. Renting bikes from downtown is great way to check out the coastal trail. You will sometimes see moose as well.
The end of May and into June is a great time to hit ship creek, right down town and reel up a king salmon. Throw on some chest waders or boots and grab a fishing pole. Don't forget to get a fishing license and be very careful of the tide. The mud and the tide can be dangerous so talk to the locals before venturing out into the stream.
Chilkoot Charlie's is the infamous bar for Anchorage. It is about 1.5 from the house and it usually has a band on one side and a dj on the other.
Total of 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. Upstairs, room 1 has a queen bed and a twin bed, room 2 has a king bed, and room 3 has a king bed. 2 bathrooms upstairs. Downstairs, room 4 has a king bed and room 5 has 2 queen beds. 1 queen bed in open area downstairs and a queen size blowup mattresses if needed. 1 bathroom downstairs.

Perfect property for our large family group with almost every amenity that we needed. Clean and excellent location. Would love to come back and stay for future gatherings - recommend very much for family and friend groups
This house is an amazing property. We are a family of 12 and this house was very comfortable, clean and located perfectly for all our needs and wants. The description and pictures are accurate. Jan was always immediate and pleasant in answering my text. We could not have found a better place to be in our family vacation in Alaska
Plenty of room for everyone. Super clean! House is a lot brighter than you see in the photos. Well organized. Easy to drive anywhere in town and beyond.
plenty of sleeping space nice to have separate spaces for adults upstairs and kids downstairs each with bedrooms and a kitchen

Thank you so much. It is so exciting to hear the guests are out being adventurous. River rafting is at the top of my list. Thanks again for taking such good care of my house.
Had a wonderful time visiting our son who is stationed at JBER. The house met all of our needs- it was very clean and well appointed. We enjoyed the extra space to spread out and relax after long days of enjoying the natural beauty that the area has to offer!
Great stay at a great property with a great host. Well furnished kitchens (yes, two of them), baths and property. Even bicycles available for use! Host was very responsive, answering questions and providing suggestions about local cuisine. Quiet neighborhood close to (but not on) major streets. Would definitely stay here again!
Great place for a big family. The house is updated and has everything you need. The host were spot on with communication. Thanks for sharing your home.

You and your family were so adventurous. It was nice to see you enjoying the beauty of Alaska and seeing as much as possible. Thank you for staying.
What a huge home for a large family or two! Lots of space to stretch out. This home was so nice & the location was perfectly close to downtown Anchorage. Jan has kept it up so nicely. We had a one year old grandson along w/us & there were even toys for him to play with! Loved our stay!
We stayed here for our sons destination wedding. There was 10 adults ranging from 19-69. This house was perfect. The younger adults used the lower floor and the older adults occupied the upstairs. If we ever came to AK again we would definitely stay here again. The house is beautiful and the host had very good communication and was very helpful
Our family (five adults) stayed here for nine nights, and the spacious setup was perfect for us—three of us upstairs and two downstairs. The house was extremely clean & comfortable and offered pretty much everything we needed. The location was conveniently close to downtown, groceries, Moose’s Tooth and the Great Harvest Bread Company (which quickly became our favorite lunch option). This was a great home base to explore the area, from Seward to Talkeetna to Lake Clark National Park. Jan was very welcoming and extremely responsive to questions—and when a minor issue did arise during our stay, she resolved it quickly.
We would definitely recommend Jan’s home and hospitality and would happily stay with her again!
Jan was a very accommodating and welcoming host! She takes pride and care in her home and goes above and beyond to make sure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We had a group of 14 and we had plenty of space for everyone to hang out and to sleep. It had a nice spacious backyard for the kids (and adults) to play the provided yard games and toys. The house was conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants and stores. Easy to find with just a few blocks to Seward Highway to do your travelling/exploring! If I had to rebook, I would most definitely rebook with Jan!
This has been by far the best VRBO we have rented to date! Jan, the property owner, was communicative from day one and I never worried about our reservation or the check-in process. She provided us with a list of things to do while we were in Anchorage, which was very helpful in planning the trip. The house was perfectly laid out to accommodate all nine of us, including our 16 month granddaughter. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, and anything else we needed to cook our meals. The neighborhood is nice and conveniently located near everything we needed or went to visit. This will definitely be a “book again” property if we ever get back to Anchorage!
Lots of space and very well stocked for a large group. Host was on top of any communications. Many labels around the house with instructions, also a notebook with a lot of rules (no shoes in house, etc). Driveway had very narrow curbs that was difficult to use without hitting curb. Kitchen table seating bench so uncomfortable. But lots of other chairs, recliners in living room very popular, 2 washer/dryers so great to have, good wi-fi, nice big tables in kitchen, beds were comfy, plenty of nice linens, lots of hangers in closets, dark curtains super great for sleeping in, very clean place too. Neighbor's tools were loud but not at unreasonable hours. Fans were great to have. Two kitchens so handy!! We'd definitely recommend this house. We'd stay again.

About the host
Hosted by Jan Durrington
I was in the hotel industry for about 10 years and my dream was to own a B&B when I was younger. I always loved helping the guests plan day trips and when they came back glowing and with awesome pictures, a great adventure, or of wildlife and the natural beauty of Alaska always made me smile.
Why they chose this property
This property was ready for some TLC. We spent a couple of years of blood, sweat and tears to make this house beautiful. This was an experience of a life time to remodel and make things so nice for our guests.
What makes this property unique
Two living rooms. One for the adults with 2 couches and 3 couches downstairs for the kids. Plus two refrigerators. Great location and very easy to get to where ever you need to go. Fenced in backyard for the kids and adults to hang out. It is a quiet neighborhood and a couple blocks from Anchorage's coastal trail. This trail is great for walking, jogging, rollerblading, skate skiing, and biking. Be sure to pack some bug spray because the mosquitoes can get bad in some areas.
