Great stay at Cove Meadow Cottage
Stonington is a classic working harbor surrounded by nature preserves. Cove Meadow Cottage is a lovely secluded spot, right on a tidal cove. Our family of three was very comfortable with the accommodations, but enjoyed a lot of time outdoors. Multiple fish stores and myriad farm stands allowed us to create great meals over which we recounted the days adventures. If you seek a low key, beautiful time away, we'd highly recommend Cove Meadow.
If you only have a short time to spend in Maine but want to experience as much of it as possible, I can’t imagine a better place to stay. Stonington and the whole lobster experience is just minutes down the road. Natural woods and oceanfront, Barred Island Preserve is minutes up the road the other way. From the porch we watched locals digging clams at low tide. The cabin was cozy and spotless. Thanks for our stay Lindsay.
What an incredible Cottage and location....
Cove Meadow cottage is simply amazing. I found myself over and over again standing on the deck and looking out at the natural beauty all around me. Deer Island offered us 8 days of enjoyment on trails, visits to farmers markets, excursion on the mail boat to Seal Island and visits to Cold Water Seafood selecting yet another tasty fresh treat for our dinners. We prepared all meals in the cabin and found that it contained utensils for everything we needed and a stove and refrigerator that gave us room to cook and keep our food cold and fresh. The bed was very comfortable and the shower nice and hot as we like it. We had one rainy day when the propane heater took the chill from the air. Our host Lindsay greeted us warmly and gave us excellent suggestions to get us started. She gave us the privacy we needed while always answering email questions promptly. She gave me excellent advice on where to have a flat tire repaired. Definitely on our list of favorite Home Away locations and we would recommend it highly to others.
What a great time in coastal Maine.
A cottage in a perfect setting, with all the amenities that make a great place even better. Close to hikes, shore activities (canoeing!), good food, wildlife views (porpoises!), scenic vistas you can't see any where else. Lovely host who is friendly, engaging & knowledgeable of the area. Autumn is beautiful here. Highly recommend the cottage to anyone wanting to "get away from it all".
Our stay at Cove Meadows
We enjoyed very much the quaint cottage with the gorgeous view of the cove. Thanks to Lindsay’s, the owner, attentive skills and knowledge of the area, our trip was such a success!
Minutes to Stonington's beautiful, much painted much photographed
unspoiled fishing village. May to October enjoy nearby artisans
studios, galleries and shops, several very fine restaurants,
scenic and nature tours and wonderful diverse performing arts, golf
and tennis at neighboring country club. Year 'round enjoy our own
local 'fish huts' offering the best in local fare simply and
traditionally prepared; seaside walks on our beautifully groomed
island trails; Kayak and canoe explorations. Fall is a
favorite time for naturalists, painters, astronomers as well as
wilderness paddlers and hikers. Isle Au Haut, one of the most
unspoiled and remote parks of Acadia is a mail boat ride away. Many
artisans studios open until December and many year round shops show
the work of local artists and artisans year round.
