Husband, dog and I were in the Galveston Bay area looking for houses. La Petit Maison was perfect for our stay. Comfortable, clean, and quiet. Very efficient A/C units were on when we arrived. We walked along the short private walkway to the private deck and private pier a number of times for beautiful views of the bay, sunrise, and sunset. Notable extras include neighborhood location (wonderful for walking our dog) great indoor lighting for evenings, and lots of bath towels and racks for hanging.

A real gem with a great view

This property is a unique 2 story casita with well outfitted kitchen and a very comfortable king bed. The star of the show is the huge back sitting area overlooking Galveston Bay

Quaint

This is a quaint comfortable cottage. The patio has a nice view as well as the balcony. We had our 5 pound Maltipoo with us and the host allowed us to leave her for a few hours so we could go to the Space Center. We enjoyed our stay.

This is a darling cottage, with lovely appointments, we loved the master bedroom with enough space to get ready in the evening for dinners out. Quiet, secluded and perfectly peaceful! Will stay again!!!

La petite Maison est très belle!

Don and Nancy are kind people and La Petite Maison is a wonderful place to stay. We had everything we needed and enjoyed the HUGE deck on the waterfront, clean and comfortable accommodations, and much of what the area has to offer for food, shopping, and entertainment. We look forward to visiting again!

Cozy Cottage

Loved the wood beams and ceilings downstairs and wood floors upstairs. Only bath on first floor with only bedroom on second floor was a bit challenging but the access to very nice deck on the bay made it worth it. Would go back if circumstance presented itself.

Absolutely Charming!

Such a Charming little cottage, with access to a private pier and large porch overlooking the water! Very quiet neighborhood, and Don and Nancy were very nice and helpful with all of our questions. We will go back!

A surprise!

We had to cancel an RV trip due to brake problems and found this little gem just south of Kemah. The hosts provided us lots of good info on things to do and where to eat. When we had questions about the cottage, they responded with helpful answers very quickly. The location was great and we spent lots of time on the balcony and the patio, reading and watching Galveston Bay. We enjoyed our stay and heartily recommend it.

Too long of a walk to get to pier. Bed upstairs and troublesome to go up and down to use restroom. No cable upstairs just downstairs. Top deck just able to see side of water. Had to park on side of street. Was not a good stay.

Lovely respite

Our stay at La Petit Maison was amazing. We were in between homes just sold ours and about to buy another one, but somehow we found this tranquil little place. So interesting with its character and attention to detail and the renters needs. There is a full kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven.. amazing. We spent the week of Christmas which involved wrapping gifts packing and unpacking, and had all the room we needed. The upstairs is devoted to bedroom with a wonderfully inviting king size bed, TV and functional desk.. plus two closets. I will also include that the bathroom especially the shower was more than adequate. Great hot and cold, good water pressure. Excellent. I haven't even mentioned the gorgeous water view, plus the use of the owners patio. Our pups enjoyed that so much!!.. Just a 180 degree view of beautiful bay water. Nicest place in Bayview!!

Hidden Petit Gem!

First, I would like to address the issue of "La Petit". While yes, it is small, it does not mean it is without comfort. This little place was so comfortable it surprised me. I read in another review an individual had issues with the restroom being too small. As is stated in the description, the restroom is the size of a ship. This is completely accurate. However, there was plenty of room for me to maneuver and get around, and I'm 280 lbs+ and 100% disabled from the military. If anyone should have problems, it would be me and there were no issues whatsoever. My wife and I had a wonderful stay. The queen size bed had a memory foam top on it which was so comfortable with two huge feather pillows. There is more than enough lighting and fans. Even though it had window units, it was always very comfortable and rather on the cool side when it was 107* outside. It was just a little walk out to the pier and very relaxing. Fishing was excellent. We caught plenty of hard heads and croaker, but my wife caught a 21” redfish and I got a black drum once we figured out what we were doing. The landlord was even excited for us. (very nice people by the way) There are neighboring houses, but nobody bothered you. As a matter of fact, I hardly saw anyone. The apartment is behind the main house, but there is still a huge view of the ocean from the balcony. It was just so calm and peaceful. And if you wanted to watch TV, there was a TV downstairs, a TV upstairs free high speed Wi-Fi. There was also plenty of storage space with two closets. This “La Petit Maison” is very cute and charming. I would definitely recommend it and I would definitely go back.

The place was awesome! Our only regret is we had too much going on with family to enjoy it more. The hosts were super accommodating. We had to change our reservation and add a day. They made it happen. Then we arrived at an unusual hour and again, very helpful and accommodating to our situation. I fear we may have been a little high maintenance at first but hopefully we left on good terms. We come to the area annually and will definitely be looking to book this one again. Thanks so much for letting us enjoy your wonderful place.

Don is a native Houstonian whose family summer vacationed in the Galveston Bay area since the 1950s, Nancy is a retired business-owner from Ft. Wayne, IN. We have lived in the Galveston Bay area together for many years. The area is private, romantic and relaxed; the climate is semi-tropical with warm bay breezes year round. We enjoy boating, dining, golfing and family activities on the property and on Galveston Bay.

Why they chose this property

Don is a Houston native and has vacationed in the Bacliff/Bayview/Kemah, TX area all his life. I love the area's climate, water entertainment access and relaxed style of living. The seafood dining in the area is unmatched in the state of Texas. The productivity of offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico off the Galveston coast is unmatched in the U.S. The South Texas coast is the premier site saltwater entertainment mecca of the Houston area and South eastern Texas. This property has the best view (270 degree) of the Galveston Bay and the Houston Ship Channel that runs though it. Annually, on Fridays in the months of June and July there are waterfront hour-long fireworks displays that are visible from our waterfront decks. The wildlife (sea gulls, pelicans, porpoises) behavior displays from our decks are phenomenal.

What makes this property unique

There are only a few waterfront locations to stay on Galveston bay: ours is one of the most popular in the area. It is competitively priced and combines privacy, seclusion and cozy accommodation for a weekend get-away for busy working couples, honey-moon and anniversary couples either for short or extended stays. The panoramic views of Galveston Bay are exclusive to this property. We have operated this vacation rental for ten of the fifteen years we have lived here to rave (mostly five-star) reviews from locals and out-of-town travelers alike.
