We truly enjoyed our time in Spring Lake- and the house could not have been easier to enjoy the town and everything it has to offer. It was a great location and Sue made us feel at home. Te house was perfect for our family. The kitchen and yard made it easy for us to enjoy meals together and Sue's recommendations were so helpful. We hope to come back again.

Perfect summer get away

Beach Vacation

This property has been beautifully renovated. We were 5 adults and a 2 year old. There was plenty of space and we all got very comfortable very quickly. I would recommend this property and am likely to stay there again.

We had a really nice week. The house was great for us and our 3 boys. Nice large back yard and plenty of space inside the house. Everything went really well with the owners. Super clean too.

Can’t wait to stay there again

Spring Lake is a beautiful small Jersey shore town and this is the perfect home to stay to enjoy it. Just several blocks to the lovely downtown with great shops and eateries, you can also walk a couple more and be at the beach! The house itself is immaculate, comfortably furnished, with a wonderful outdoor patio, dining area and new grill plus a great kitchen. Our favorite thing to do though was to have our morning coffee in the front porch and feel the ocean breezes. We will be back!

Lovely, immaculate Spring Lake home

Every summer we rent a week at the Jersey shore. This was by far the best experience we have had. The home has everything a family or friends could need. We especially enjoyed our time spent on a great front porch, and a beautifully landscaped and comfortable backyard and patio. Close to a great small downtown and walking distance to beach also made it very special. The owners are very caring and responsive, as well as respectful of our privacy. Looking forward to a return next summer.

Our week in Spring Lake

I normally never write reviews but I think this is worth writing. We had a fabulous week in Spring Lake. This beautiful home is in an ideal location... easy walk to town and to the beach. The house itself is equipped with everything you will need; no need to pack a thing except your clothes! Sue, the owner could not be more helpful and pleasant. She is easy to contact and responds immediately to any communications. I would highly recommend this house !

Immaculate Property in Excellent Location

This was a very clean and conveniently located property, just blocks from the Spring Lake beach, the North Pavilion and the lovely town of Spring Lake. The house had all new appliances and bathrooms, everything working well and very comfortable patio and front porch. The grill was easy to use and convenient. A big plus are the 5 pool/beach passes with a fully stocked locker at the Pavilion so you don't have to carry everything every day. We thoroughly enjoyed this house and staying in Spring Lake. We highly recommend it!

Should have trusted our instincts

despite my instincts (based on a VRBO review as well as a couple strange conversations with the owners) 8 rented this house for myself, my parents, my adult sibling and my three year old daughter over Labor Day. Unfortunately I wish I had trusted my gut as the owners not only invaded our vacation every day of our stay but also robbed us of over half our security deposit in one of the most ludicrous and insulting letters of grievances I have ever received. The house lived up to its expectations in that it is charming, well decorated, organized so nicely for guests and a great location. Sue, the owner, left a wonderful book for my daughter as a welcome gesture, but unfortunately none of that outweighs the extreme negatives that are unacceptable for renters. The owners found reasons to come to the property every day, and each time we were accomodating. Although it made my husband and parents uncomfortable, we were gracious and even went as far as to quickly vacate the home so the owner could show it to another prospect. The most intrusive was when the owner asked me if her son could come over and mow the lawn early one morning. I said yes and for the next two hours had to uncomfortably deal with her husband lurking around the backyard, front yard and garage. As my parents attempted to enjoy coffee in their pajamas, they felt incredibly uncomfortable being able to see the owner 10 feet away appearing to do nothing more than spy on us. Well after the son was done mowing, the husband stayed and at one point seemed to be watching the home from his car. Despite all of this, I was prepared against my husband's wishes to not submit an official review but instead email the owners with suggestions on how to make people feel more like it is their home for the weekend if they pay. That was until we received our security deposit back. The owners took over $600 of our money with unfounded and ridiculous charges such as "physical remnants and odor beyond description" in the master bedroom where my very tidy and clean smelling parents slept. There were false charges of evidence of smoking cigarettes and damaging the cushions with ashes. This is an outright lie. Most frustrating of the claims is a paragraph long rant about ants. Yes, within an hour of arriving, we found ants so out of pocket we bought ant traps since this is CLEARLY a common problem. If you value your privacy and money do not rent this home. We are insulted and will not be returning.

"Should Have Trusted Our Instincts" We Have: 14 Years Rental History / 34 Happy Guest Families / 12 Returning Families for multiple stays ------------------- There are always 2 side to every story, and this situation is no exception. --- We did not & do not ... "invade" guests' stay. We have many families to attest to this. Please note: these guests secured the house for a long weekend. Due to weather issues leading up to their stay, lawn care had to be accomplished while they were in the house. We did contact them prior to coming over & they approved things they are now complaining about. --- As for the condition of the home: We ensure the house is immaculate & personally inspected immediately for every guests' arrival, void of "pests", & the way we want to find a rental secured for our own family. --- As itemized for these guests, any costs deducted from security deposit were used to take care of issues resulting from their stay. These guests unfortunately left the house in a terribly filthy condition (remains too sensitive to post here), food remnants & ants so rampant thru-out the house Pest Control had to be brought in. Ants WERE NOT PRESENT Prior to or Upon their arrival. If that was the case, why not tell us about it when I checked in to see how they were finding the house?? --- We encourage all guests to report any issues whatsoever so we can address it. These guests reported nothing at all. In fact, face-to-face meeting & txt msgs verified how much they loved the house & all was great. --- We personally met 5 of the guests (husband, daughter, parents), who seemed like such wonderful people. Guess we were fooled ~ we were shocked to discover the state in which they left the home upon their departure.

Wonderful home

Beautiful home within walking distance to the beach. We had a great time at Susan and Darren's immaculate home. It was incredibly clean, family friendly layout and the backyard is lovely. Susan and Darren were great hosts too - very communicative before and throughout our stay.

Quintessential shore home

This home has been beautifully renovated - the kitchen is exceptional - both in amenities and decor in the family room is quintessential shore and a pleasure to spend time in. Bathrooms and master bedroom are beautiful and the backyard was lovely. The house is meticulously clean. The hosts, Susan and Darren are extremely responsive and helpful. While not impacting my rating, the only "nits" were that the staircase had 3 steps without a rail (I'm a senior citizen) so that was a concern for me and the finished basement even with a high-powered humidifier was somewhat musty. It is truly a lovely home and was a pleasure to stay in with a good location and would highly recommend.

Wonderful house in beautiful Spring Lake

We had a wonderful stay. It was a perfect house for our family of 5! The property was immaculate and well maintained, but was also comfortable and we immediately felt right at home. Our three kids loved having a separate basement family room, and the adults enjoyed the open floor plan, the front porch, and the back patio. It is a great location, very convenient to our favorite Spring Lake shops and restaurants and close to the beach. We brought our bikes with us so going to the beach every day was especially easy with the well-equipped beach locker. All we had to bring with us were towels! Sue and Darren were excellent hosts; available and responsive to any question or concern. They made our vacation easy and hassle-free! We loved staying at their beach house.

Excellent in every way!

It is unusual to find a property (especially at the beach) furnished, outfitted and maintained as a home rather than a rental for transients. This also applies to the outdoor furnishings and the large supply of beach equipment. Consequently, the owners are quick to remedy any malfunction or problem. The property’s amenities and location in a quiet neighborhood but convenient to the shopping district and beach made it ideal for a family ranging in age from 3 to 72.

Great time in Spring Lake

In one word Wow! Our family with 2 grandkids and 4 adults had a great stay. The location was within distance of the town center where there Is a beautiful lake, bike and walking paths and a playground for the kids. The north end beach has 3 pools one for small children , one for those bigger and learning how to swim and a bigger lap pool. The stay came with a convenient locker adjacent to the pool and steps from the beach so you don't have lug stuff back and forth. The home was very comfortable for all. There is a play - living area that can accommodates the family and is adjacent to a fabulous kitchen . We used the backyard for some play and to eat out using the grill and some take out. Upstairs worked for the kids and adults. The playpen more than fit into the master bedroom. Plenty of closet space. Shopping for groceries is minutes away . Sue and Darren were great hosts. A place to go back to!

One born & bred area girl and one "summers-at-the-shore" boy knew the place for them was small town life by the sea. Familiar faces & traditional events in town, elementary school around the corner, beautiful beaches, walking & biking through town, and wonderful neighbors was the lifestyle we wanted for our young family. The town of Spring Lake is a special place, to which our many guests attest - visit, after visit, after visit.

Why they chose this property

This charming home links to the historic Lewis Lumber Yard which occupied several blocks in this part of town. Mr. Lewis built a row of homes across the street for his employees, while our home was most likely built for an over-see-er or manager. Original floors and trim were in excellent shape when we purchased the home & have been maintained. Renovations to the home have been completed with the historic value of the home in mind, in order to preserve the authenticity of the dwelling.
