About this property
Tranquil Creekside Cabin on 6 Private Acres with Room to Explore
Discover a peaceful mountain retreat tucked among towering hemlocks and set along a beautiful stretch of Vandergriff Creek. This inviting cabin sits just steps from the water’s edge, offering the calming sound of a babbling brook and a setting that feels worlds away from everyday life.
Wake up to morning light drifting through the trees and the gentle rhythm of the creek flowing past the cabin. With nearly a quarter mile of cascading water running through six private acres, the property provides endless opportunities to explore, unwind, and reconnect with nature. Wander shaded hollows, follow quiet trails, or settle into a porch swing with coffee as the creek sets the pace for the day.
The creek itself is shallow, clear, and easy to access—perfect for wading, skipping rocks, cooling off your feet, or simply enjoying the peaceful flow. Hammocks, a fire pit under the stars, and plenty of open space create a relaxing outdoor experience for guests of all ages.
Inside, the cabin offers 2,200 sq. ft. of comfortable living space. Three bedrooms on the main level make gatherings simple, and a loft with three twin beds adds flexibility for additional guests. The primary suite features a large log bed and private porch where the sounds of the creek drift through the door at night.
A fully equipped kitchen makes meal prep easy, whether grilling on the Big Green Egg or cooking indoors. Enjoy fast WiFi, a new 55” Samsung TV, Netflix, and DirecTV—or choose to unplug completely and enjoy the quiet woods. Classic cabin pastimes like darts, horseshoes, and evenings by the fire add to the charm.
When adventure calls, the surrounding area offers hiking on the Appalachian and Benton MacKaye trails, tubing or kayaking on the Cartecay and Toccoa Rivers, and world-class trout fishing nearby. Amicalola Falls and the restaurants and shops of Ellijay are both about 25 minutes away, with paved roads leading all the way to the cabin.
Whether the goal is a quiet escape, time in nature, or a getaway with family and friends, this creekside cabin provides a welcoming, private retreat for every kind of traveler.

What makes this property unique
Tranquility. This is the place to come to escape the stresses of this world. The talking creek washes them away. Dozens of vantage points to let it immerse you. We looked for four years then knew instantly that this was where we wanted to spend our days. Never rented before, its always been a family retreat and feels like it. We hope you find what we experience each time we come.
The Hemlock Story
The hemlock is a majestic conifer tree that meanders the mountain streams of the Appalachians. At up to a hundred feet in height, it shades the waters that are its ecosystem and keeps temperatures ideal for trout habitat. But the tree is threatened. The Hemlock Wooly Adelgid a small scale insect was introduced from Japan and with no natural enemies has devastated hemlocks in the Eastern US. It kills these magnificent trees in roughly five years time. Our property along Vandergriff creek is very unique to have 160 beautiful hemlocks concentrated along the creek bank. Having no idea about hemlocks or this threatening pest, we bought the property five years ago to quickly discover that the trees which nestled our cabin-in-the-woods were infested and struggling to survive. I took this as an urgent challenge. We researched a cure and began treating each tree (complicated soil injection around the base). Several trees were too far gone but we've been able to watch as the trees re-foliate very gradually from the tiny crown of needles that was left in the top. Having lost less than a dozen trees, we are excited to live inside a wonderful restored “cove” of these majestic giants. These beautiful trees make this a truly unique setting.
