About this property

Look no further, this location has it all, including private boat launch

Enjoy an amazing sense of privacy in this spacious home located just a few yards off the Muskegon River and just moments away from everything. One of only two homes located on a boat launch off the causeway between Muskegon and North Muskegon, you can quickly access 4 bodies of water via watercraft with the private dock or vehicle - the Muskegon River, Muskegon Lake, Bear Lake and Lake Michigan. Hunting and fishing abound. This is the first area to offer access to open water in the spring as the Muskegon River rarely freezes over. Wildlife frequent the area and we often see Blue Herons fly by, the occasional eagle and fox as well! The seawall running along the home is a favorite sunning spot for turtles, and dear enjoy nibbling on the hostas if they can! All this is just moments from major area highways.
The spacious second story living area includes a large comfortable sectional and gas fireplace in a great, open living room. The recently remodeled eat in kitchen and dining room, with access to the second story deck for al fresco dining, offers the unique ability to see both beautiful sunrises over the Muskegon River flats or gorgeous sunsets over Muskegon Lake. Two spacious bedrooms, a full laundry and large bathroom with separate shower and whirlpool tub complete the level.
The downstairs includes an attached garage with a large open rec room with tv viewing and gaming areas along with a bar and separate fridge. There are sliders to the backyard with fire-pit and deck just a few feet from the river. A pellet stove keeps it warm and cozy in the winter.
The Bike Trail located across the street offers a beautiful trail running along the water and through downtown all the way to the sugar sand of Pere Marquette Beach. The River House is located 8 Miles from Pere Marquette, 6 Miles from North Muskegon State Park, 5.5 Miles from the historic North Muskegon Blockhouse, 6 Miles from Michigan’s Adventure Amusement Park and 7.5 Miles from the Winter Sports Complex which offers lighted skating and cross-country ski trails as well as a full-scale luge! Visit the Historic LST Landing ship in downtown Muskegon, Tour the Hackley House, an immaculately restored Lumber Baron's home, or check out an actual World War II Submarine and maritime museum, the Silversides, located on the channel separating Muskegon Lake from Lake Michigan. While you are there you might catch a glimpse of a 1000-foot freighter passing through. There are multiple festivals to attend, including the wildly popular Muskegon Bike Time, Irish Music Festival, and the family friendly Unity Christian Music Festival to name a few. You even have several museums to explore. A Miniature Golf Course and GoKart facility which also rents Kayaks is within walking distance. Downtown Muskegon is home to three craft breweries - Pigeon Hill, Unruly Brewing Company and the newly added Rake Beer Project in addition to numerous bars and restaurants.

We stayed for a long weekend and it was great. The home was clean and spacious, although we spent a lot of time outside fishing, by a small fire, or on the deck playing games by the river. Highly recommend the ice cream place right across the river- some of the best ice cream we’ve ever had!The host was super communicative, friendly, and accommodating. The main bed was broke, though we ran into the host when walking by and let her know. She was very sweet and apologetic as she was unaware- no big deal since we had extra room for our small family.Highly recommend for a family (and a pet!) looking for somewhere to unwind!

Beautiful River Retreat

This house is fantastic, the location is super close to town but away from others. You can still hear the traffic, but if you look up river, all you see is a stunning wetland river ecosystem and a sweet old railroad bridge. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck over the river, saw a pair of mallards, swans, Canada geese, a turtle and a water snake in just a short time frame. The house was comfortable, and meet our needs.

My spouse and I and our German Shepherd spent a couple days exploring the Muskegon area. The Riverhouse was a perfect location for that. The house was in a great location and perfectly appointed. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

So relaxing!

This property and the house are beautiful! The view from the upper deck looking over the river is amazing. Greg and Stacy were very accommodating and the communication was excellent. They even offered us a late check out! The house is big and very clean. There are some steep wooden steps up to the main floor (inside and outside) which our small dogs found a little scary but they were easy to manage for my husband and I who are over 60. The whole house is well stocked with any thing you could need and Stacy and Greg are responsive if you need anything else. It was just the 2 of us but this has plenty of room for a large family. I was worried because there is a boat launch that is public but even on a holiday weekend it was very quiet. Would recommend!

Good stay, room for improvement, but would stay again

We were in town for a youth mtn bike race and had a good stay. It could have been cleaner, candy wrapper, a dirty sock, and I could tell the floor was swept around the chair (pile of dirt under the chair). And the spiders. Please do some seasonal treatments. No one else seemed to mind in the family.

Fishing & a wedding

Had to attend wedding in Muskegon so decided to make a long weekend of it. Have always wanted to fish this part of river going all the way up to US 31 so this location was ideal and the private launch was perfect. Weather did not cooperate first 2 days but then had 2 great days of fishing. The cottage was perfect for what we needed and had tons of room. Our dog sitter fell through last second so it was nice we were able to take the dogs with us as well and they enjoyed exploring the area around the cottage. All in all a great weekend and would definitely stay here again.
