Fire Island Designer Beach House- Dunewood- Family Friendly with Tennis

Leave your worries behind. The vacation begins when you board the ferry to car-free (care-free) Dunewood, Fire Island. Off the beaten path, Dunewood offers summer ocean beach and bayfront fun. Walk barefoot to the ocean beach, and sip sunset cocktails at the bay. It's a quiet, natural relaxing spot, and is paradise for kids. The house is modern, comfortable, with a large decks, and delightful outdoor showers. Walk or bike to Atlantique, Fair Harbor, Saltaire or Kismet for Restaurants, playgrounds, ice cream, pizza, sunset dock, grocery and liquor store. Go a bit further and find the F.I. Lighthouse with museum and a climb to the top. Everything you need for a relaxing vacation. And don't forget about Community Tennis Courts.

14 night or 28 night rentals only. Friday to Friday.

Beach house rental in Dunewood. One block from ocean and one block from bay beach. The bay beach has roped swim area and perfect for kids. Life guards. Swim lessons available. Community tennis courts. Sailing club with lessons available.

Details: 4 bed/ 2 baths, 2 outdoor showers, large decks, bikes, BBQ, beach chairs and umbrella, beach wagon, beautiful gardens. One story house. Central A/C. New mahogany decks. Chaise lounges on front deck and back. Large private outdoor living area near large dining table.
Perfect place for those little ones to learn to swim, make castles in the sand and easy for grandparents to share with them (no stairs).

If you need to commute to Manhattan there is an early ferry and Long Island Railroad to get your there on time while the family stays and enjoys the beach.

Idyllic beach retreat

This home is incredible! Clean, well-appointed, spacious, and incredibly well located. It couldn't have been a more fantastic stay. The house had everything we needed from the kitchen to the way that the home was set up (bedrooms, towels, incredible decks, and not one, but TWO out door showers!). The location was fantastic - you could take the ferry to/from Fire Island within two blocks of the house. The bay swimming was directly at the end of the street and the other way by a block and a half was the ocean. Fair Harbor/town/access to grocery/liquor store/restaurant was a short bike ride away (under 5 minutes). The street was quiet. Not only was the house well appointed, it was stylish and bright. We hope to return next year for sure!

This is a beautiful beach house rental. It is stylish, comfortable, and a great location. The hosts were accessible and accommodating. Fire island is magical.

We loved (!) staying at Rob and Leslie’s house. It was a perfect setting for a relaxing family holiday. Dunewood is a really special, incredibly friendly and welcoming community, very quiet, very mellow. Everyone seems to know everyone, they’re all lovely, and they want to know you too. It’s not hard to understand why everyone is always smiling—it’s a perfect beach setting, consciously unspoiled by [insert here whatever thing annoys you about other beach towns when all you want to do is enjoy the beach]. The house itself is just exactly perfect—all of the casual charm you could muster in a picture perfect surf shack somehow combined with all the comforts of a great hotel, with plenty of room for the family to stretch out. And a very pretty garden too. I honestly don’t know how they pulled all that off. Rob andLeslie were terrific hosts, kept in close contact and left detailed notes on all the things we needed to know to look after their fabulous house. We can’t wait to return!

Stylish home with great proximity to bay and ocean

Lovely home with a great outdoor layout for working from home and lounging. Highly recommend. Owners are lovely, accommodating and are very responsive.

Family of 4 from Scarsdale and Brooklyn Heights. Leslie is a Fashion Designer and Robert an Interior Designer. We have enjoyed this island the past 24 years. Our children enjoyed the freedom it provides, we enjoyed the relaxation and friendships.

Why they chose this property

One block to ocean, one block to the bay, extremely private backyard and garden. Neighbors on all sides extremely quiet. New for 2022 is updated outdoor living room setting surrounded by gardens. Tennis courts, life guards and uncrowded family beaches. This is the polar opposite of Ocean Beach and Ocean Bay Park. New air-conditioning system in 2021 and new mahogany decks in winter 2022.

What makes this property unique

Sailing program, tennis courts, swim lessons, walk barefoot everywhere if you wish. Sunset swims or drinks.
Dunewood is a family community. No group share house rentals allowed... no loud college kids.
