We stayed at this beautiful property with 14 people for 2 nights (Jan 23–Jan 25) and wished we could have stayed longer! The house has an old-style charm with many unique, vintage features, yet it is impeccably clean and well-maintained.The two master bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, and one of the bedrooms had amazing views that we all loved. The kitchen was fully stocked, with a great modern oven and with everything we needed. The two fireplaces added a cozy touch, perfect for relaxing together. For entertainment, the house was incredible—air hockey, billiard, foosball, and even dominoes kept everyone engaged and excited. There was something for everyone to enjoy!Overall, this property exceeded our expectations, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend it for a fun, relaxing group getaway! The host was super responsive! Thank you, Alison!
Overall had a good time in a well appointed cabin with lots of room. Things are dated and not everything was in working condition but great place for multiple families.
Home is very warm for cold season, comfortable for large groups, plenty of bathrooms, beds are confortable, activities room is very entertaining and fun, kitchen is well appointed. Will come back for a future stay. Thank you Allison.
Alison's home was very comfortable for our group of friends who came up to spend some time in the outdoors in Tahoe! Plenty of beds and bathrooms and the kitchen was well appointed. We definitely appreciated all the games as well!
This was an amazing stay! Host was very accommodating in that our booked weekend there was a blizzard and she graciously allowed us to switch weekends. The space is amazing with so many rooms that even though you'll have a large group, you can find a place to find your own peace and quiet. The kids (and the adults) loved the game room with Billiards, Air Hockey, etc. The mud room made life so much easier for a snow-ski trip as all our wet items stayed out of the house. Kitchen is big and easy for groups to cook in (wait until you see the stove!!!). Thank you for a lovely weekend. Would recommend this place to anyone.
We had an awesome stay! The place was clean and well stocked and had tons of space for us. We loved that it was just minutes from Soda Springs resort. We would love to stay here again in the future!
This place could accommodate 3 families with young kids comfortably. Our littles loved the game room with pool, foosball, and air hockey. It has an old timey feel/decor and you can tell the owners are upgrading slowly. A few details missing but we had a good time. The location was superb. If you have multiple families with younger kids this layout is ideal.
We were three families with kids ranging from 1 to 11 enjoying our annual snow trip. House is super close to Sugar Bowl and also has tons of space around it for snow play. We built snow forts, created a sled run in the back yard, did one day of tubing, and enjoyed two days of skiing. Kitchen was well-equipped and fireplace was lovely. Thank you Alison for a great vacation!
We stayed with two families of four for a ski weekend. The house is quirky and rambling with lots of space for everyone. We had a cozy time there and it is super close to ski areas. Thanks!!
It was our 2nd time staying in this cabin. It feels so homey. We’re so happy with the kitchen update. We love to cook so it’s a must. The rooms are huge with lots of beds. We probably will be back next summer and winter. It’s so close to Donner ski ranch for some activities.
Great Tahoe spot for family friend. Awesome stay !!
Its gorgeous home in a quiet and relaxing location.I travel with families-friends everybody like this house.!One of the best homes we have been in. There are lots of games to play in house,We like that all games. We would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful home to anybody!.If i have any plan in future then definitely i'll book this house in my first priority.
We all really enjoyed our stay! The teens really enjoyed all the games available. The house is a cute cabin style with lots of room for guests! The hosts are very communicative and accommodating to our needs. I highly recommend staying here!
We had a great experience. Definitely has that old time feel to it given multiple rooms! 4 families stayed and the rooms were perfect given all the beds available. The kids loved the pool table, air hockey, and foosball. The fires were perfect and kept the downstairs nice and warm. Kitchen was good for what we needed. Had a coffee machine, toaster, and stove top tea kettle. Olive oil and some spices where there as well. We had a ton of snow so not able to see the backyard. The kids were able to play in the front as they snowplowed a small parking space that was perfect for playing.
We had a great stay at this place with our family. We were 12 and this place has plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed the game room - the entire family can be entertained without leaving the property! I highly recommend this place and we will certainly look this place up for the next time.
It was a good time. Located near everything you need enough space for everyone. Kitchen has all you need to cook with. We all loved the game room. Great place to get away and enjoy the snow. Thank you for having us.
The size and location of the property were perfect for our trip. The layout of the house provided for plenty of space for everyone to spread out (6 adults / 6 teenagers) between the den/game room, the living room and dining area downstairs with more than ample sleeping options upstairs.

A Great Place to Stay in Winter
Excellent place to stay while skiing at sugar bowl and boreal (Donner was not open). The place has a lot of character, is well-supplied, and very comfortable, and is virtually next-door to Sugarbowl. The owner has a very detailed guide to the house. The owner was easily reached for questions, and very responsive.

About the host
Hosted by Alison Kobban
After several years of renting places for both skiing and summer fun, we decided to invest in a place to create our own memories. We were enchanted when we first walked into Norden Lodge. We invite you to stay in our house with its nearly 100 years of history on Donner Summit. Please, join us!
Why they chose this property
Walking into the Norden Lodge, there is an aura, a charm, a history which envelopes the visitor. After passing an extra large "mud room" - used for both winter and summer fun - you enter the Billiard Room which used to house the Norden General Store. This room, its two seating areas, pool tables and multiple musical instruments embody the history of the lodge. After looking at multiple houses, we knew THIS was the one; the one for our kids to enjoy - and hopefully for their kids as well. There are so many nooks and crannies - and SPACE. It is simply unique and amazing!
What makes this property unique
Run for years as a bed and breakfast, there are several bedrooms with full baths "en suite." Located on the property is an old cabin like building that housed some of the men that built the first railroad tracks over Donner Summit. There is history, character and charm from room to room. Given that winters on Donner Summit can sometimes be quite intense, we have a caretaker living in a separate apartment who can be available in case there are issues that arise.
