Wonderful, peaceful getaway! Beautiful location right across from the lake with a close dock to go in kayaks and paddle boards. The hosts graciously let us use their canoe and other fun equipment. The kids could ride bikes in the street with very little traffic. We even had lots of wiffle ball games in the street too. It was a wonderful vacation!

We had a great time in the property. It was clean & very spacious for our party of 15. The kids had a fun time sledding and playing in the snow right outside. It was beautiful and relaxing.

Great stay again.

I've stayed at the Capone house before and had a lovely time again. This is an older house with functional appliances and a well-equipped kitchen. I will come here again.

Daughter

My daughter (in her late 20's) stayed with some friends from out of town to celebrate her birthday. The place was in a great location and very close to several local outings. The place was clean and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this place for a large group. Had everything needed to make the weekend special.

Stay at Serene Lake

We had a large group of 15 people and the location was exactly what we were looking for! We loved taking the bikes on a ride around the neighborhood. I would definitely recommend the Capones place! All instructions were clear and we had no issues.

First Stay at a VRBO

I was a little apprehensive about our stay since I had never stayed at a VRBO before and had no idea what to do or expect. Before I booked, I was messaging questions to the owner and she was extremely helpful which made me comfortable enough to book. The communication from the beginning to the end was top notch. It was exactly as presented, fit all of us (14) ranging from adults, pre-teen, kids and baby, comfortably. The snow was in abundance and we all had a great time. We definitely planning on doing this again and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

3 years in a row, wonderful family getaway

This is our family's third stay at the spacious Capone House. We enjoyed the recent upgrades and found the home to be overall cleaner than previous arrivals. The kitchen is well-appointed and had all the cookware and serving pieces needed for our large family meals. Weather was great and we enjoyed hours each day on the deck overlooking the lake. The neighborhood is quiet and the community very kind and welcoming.

Great Tahoe house for groups and families!

We had several families stay together in this house and it was perfect for our needs, especially with the large dining table, bar counter, living area with space to spread out, and most of all, a wonderful loft area that was still private, but had plenty of beds for the children to stay together. The beds were very comfortable and after the house had a chance to heat up, it was quite cozy despite the snow storm. It's a great location close to Sugar Bowl and surrounding ski resorts. The owner Cynthia was extremely responsive to all our questions, and immediately addressed any concerns.

Great place for multi- generations

This is the 4th time we have stayed here with children and grandchildren and each time they beg to come back. The house is large, comfortable beds, great view from the deck of the lake across the street. There's plenty of kitchen dishes etc to cook for groups up to 15. The owners are very helpful if anything breaks. The location is great for young kids learning to skate or ride bikes and the lake is quiet, no motors. For the mountains the water is swimmable We are going back next year

We enjoyed our stay at the Capone Getaway. This 5 bedroom/3 bathroom house plus a loft provided plenty of space for our family gathering. The kitchen is filled with everything we needed plus some. The location was perfect for us in Soda Springs. A few drawbacks were: (1) The cabin entry was very icy so we had to remove and de-ice the iced over rubber mats before our family arrived so no one would slip getting into the cabin; (2) Some of the beds were too soft and pillows should be replaced; and (3) There was a whole checklist that we had to complete before leaving, which seemed excessive. Otherwise, it was a fabulous long weekend.

Family vacation in winter wonderland!

We had a lovely time at the Capone cabin. There were plenty of rooms and beds for everyone. The house had plenty of dishes and silverware, lots of extra blankets, and a real homey feeling. We had so much fun making our own toboggan run on the property which was just as good as the lot across from the snow park. The snow park was very close by also, but we didn't waste our money tubbing there. We took a walk through the neighborhood on the relatively flat, plowed roads. Lots of families were out walking and walking their dogs. One reason we picked this cabin was because we planned to put Grandma on the deck so she could watch the kids play in the snow. We shoveled a path for her and she was able to enjoy the activities as well. We hope to come back in the summer to enjoy the lake and we have already penciled in some days next winter. Thank you Cynthia for sharing your mountain home with us.

Amazing place and location with amazing property owners

We went with friends and family(4 friends and their kids) for a quick ski trip, the house and place was nicely kept and cleaned.. There was enough wood and equipments etc.. when we went it started snowing heavily and during our stay itself it snowed a few feet.. we were stuck but the property owners were kind enough to lead us on how to clean the cars, communicate with the cleaners and help the cars get out for us to leave a day after. Overall we had lots of fun in ploughing feets of snow from the cars and also in the driveway.. our first experience and probably ever lasting.. Owners even let us stay a day extra because of the hazardous weather and road conditions.. The only thing is that there are no cell phone signals so you will have to do with the wifi at home.. overall i will highly recommend to visit the property and would love to stay again.

The property had incredible views! Perfect place for our big family

Our family has spent time in Tahoe for the past 13 years. We love it, but every year it is more congested. We were ready for a more quiet experience. This was the perfect spot!! None of us wanted to leave after our 6 day stay. Our family of 15 ranging in ages from 6 to 69 loved every minute. There was something for everyone. Our 4 grandsons had the perfect spot to sleep in the bunk loft. And 3 teenage granddaughters had their privacy in the downstairs "apt.". This property has beautiful, serene views of the lake. The kids loved the forest area surrounding the house. The teenagers and young adults loved the kayak and canoe. The swim beach is within a 5 minute walk and there is a great hike behind the house. The owners were so easy to deal with and quick to respond to any issues. (only a minor hot water issue from previous renters and a screen door needing attention). The house has everything you need, including bikes and scooters for the kids. We were amazed at the generosity of the Capone family in providing "toys". We highly recommend this property....although would selfishly love to keep it our little secret.

This a fantastic house, especially if you have kids in your group!! We had eight adults and seven kids, ranging from 2 to 12 years old. Our stay was in August. We used both canoes, the kayak, and the paddle board every day! We also used several of the bicycles, some of the beach toys, and the beach umbrella. The foosball table was in constant use. And the kitchen is VERY well stocked with pots and pans, and several large cooking pots and baking dishes. Five kids slept upstairs in the loft and loved it! So I would highly recommend the Capone house to anyone visiting Serene Lakes! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there!!

This is our fourth visit to the Capone's wonderful cabin at Serene Lakes. It accommodates our entire family (ages 3 to 74) very well. There are enough nooks for the quiet ones to find a peaceful spot, tables for board games, and wonderful bikes, kayaks and canoes to be used on the lovely lake and quiet mountain roads and paths. Thanks Capone family!

Great host and location

One of the most beautiful locations in Soda Springs on a 'Serene Lake" very comminicative and warm host.We were 12 and the place was good for all of us with all the ammenties needed. Wifi worked great.Only feedback from some in the group was a few beds were not "firm".. other than that we had a great time. Kitchen was well equipped, grill was good and the host was kind to trust us with the canoe and bikes which some of us used.Even though it was a surprisingly cold wave - we got flurries in June... some of us ventured and took the boast out. It was very nice and the lake is calming.the neighbood is very friendly too with a mix of owners and renters.Thank you for sharing the property with us

Winter fun at Capone house

The home is comfortable and warm for our 6 adult & 5 children's yearly winter fun. Hosts are responsive, helpful, prompt, and nice. Everything we need (except food & drink) are provided. Fantastic in every way. Ski out the door up the hills behind. Cross the road to ski on the lake. All five bedrooms fine with 4 of them very nice. 4 of us used the skis provided. Book collection good. (Didn’t find any games or puzzles so bring them if you want) Kitchen very nicely equipped. Nice big oven. Lots of pans

As a busy, active family from the Bay Area, we crave escapes to the mountains. That's why we created our haven in Soda Springs – a place to recharge and reconnect. We love spending time outdoors, and hiking, mountain biking, trail running, road running, and skiing are all easily accessible from our doorstep. Our spacious house is perfect for sharing this passion with others, offering plenty of room for multiple families to relax and reconnect after a day of adventure. We're excited to offer this incredible experience and a taste of our mountain life.

Why they chose this property

We chose this area because it's a virtually unknown gem. Nestled amongst the towering pines of the Sierra Nevada, overlooking the tranquil waters of Serene Lake, lies a peaceful community offering respite from the Tahoe bustle and Bay Area. It's aptly named Serene Lakes, as a sense of calm pervades the air. Here, you can simply walk across the street and launch a kayak, paddle board, or canoe, or cast a line and wait for a bite. While we love relaxing on the deck and soaking in the scenery, the abundance of outdoor activities beckons us to explore.

What makes this property unique

What makes Serene Lakes truly unique is the way it seamlessly blends exhilarating adventure with peaceful tranquility. Yes, our visits are packed with thrills - downhill skiing, laughter-filled sledding, peaceful cross-country skiing, and invigorating hikes. But the real magic happens when we slow down. It's the mountain biking trails right out the back door, the cool mountain air on our faces during a run, and the refreshing dips in the lake after a day of exploring. Evenings are spent sharing stories and laughter over dinners on the deck, all while soaking in the breathtaking views. This effortless blend of excitement and serenity is what makes it the perfect place to reconnect with loved ones and truly unwind.
