Property is very comfortable and quiet. Communication with host was excellent and immediate. I'd call this a hidden gem. We certainly will be making a return visit.

Property is very cute and perfectly located… my family of four was comfortable and enjoyed the walks to the bakery through the orchard! Sara was very sweet when we met her at the baker

Thank you Chelsea! I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay!! We hope you’ll come again.
Our family enjoyed staying at this home with the apple orchard - and secret path through the orchard to the bakery - complete with complimentary fresh-baked scones. We were fortunate to be able to take advantage of the new Friday night dinner offering there while enjoying the views from cozy Adirondack chairs. Great communication before and during our stay, with owners going above and beyond to make sure we had all we needed for our final night s’mores fun.

I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay and took advantage of many of our on farm opportunities! We hope to see you again!
Beautiful and quiet. Perfectly situated right in the middle to drive the area around Torch Lake and easily go up North along the coast of Lake Michigan. Did not have a TV, but it doesn’t matter much if you are tired after spending all day at the beach and/or hiking.

It was a great week long vacation stay. We enjoyed the view of the cottage, fire pit, board games and landscaping. We also used it as a base to visit nearby cities.

The owners were very responsive when I emailed about being there a day later than expected. There is no Wi-Fi which I'm not sure if the description had anything about that. We got a gift card for 2 delicious scones from their farm market that is walkable from the house. Overall was good.

We loved our stay here! We were up for a golf weekend and had access to lots of courses. The property was super clean at check-in and Sara’s communication was great. We loved being able to walk through the orchard to the onsite cider and wine tasting room. I would highly recommend staying here!

This is the perfect space for a family getaway. While there is no tv, we find it’s not missed as there’s so much to do outside of the house!

Thank you for your review! We love having you as guests! It’s true I think many families, couples, and friends find the lack of a tv so refreshing as you truly focus on all the other things to do and each other!
We look forward to your next visit!
We had an awesome vacation. Our children didn’t want to leave. We spent time with grandparents close by and lots of time by Antrim creek swimming. We had such a relaxing vacation even with the children along. We will be back someday I’m sure.

This house was perfect for our family to get away from the distractions and aliens time together. There was plenty of room for our family of 5 to come together for meals, games and just hanging out. By there was also plenty of room fire everyone to spread out and get some rest. Beautiful location. Being on the orchard and by the market was great - our kids walked over each morning to get fresh cider donuts. Plenty of nearby outdoor activities and awesome scenery.

Great house with an AMAZING view!
We loved the home and surrounding orchard. It had everything we could ask for our family of six (three children and mother-in-law). We were visiting family in the area and the home was 15 minutes to everything (except the beach, that was only 3 minutes)! Our children loved playing in the large front yard and the home was very relaxing to come home to after being out with family. We would definitely stay here again on a return trip!
Make sure to visit the Tasting Room and try the ciders...delicious!

This is the perfect place to totally unwind and recharge with out distraction. Just down the road is the Antrim Nature reserve with a nice beach and easy woodland walks. Or a bit further is a township park with picnic tables and benches beside the lake. But the best part is the view from the front of the house. We ate on the patio out front when we could but even from inside the view goes on uninterrupted.

It met all of our needs
We were in the Charlevoix area for our daughter's wedding and wanted a place that would sleep several people. The house was very clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay.
Fruit trees bordered the property on two sides and there were beautiful views to the west from the "living" areas. Just down the road is a beautiful park on Lake Michigan.
Sara was very responsive to any questions we had. I would definitely recommend it.

Very beautiful and peaceful! After a long day of adventures it’s nice to relax at.
I absolutely loved the place. The view was amazing. I would recommend bringing a tv and DVD player if your interested in late night movies after your long day. We had to get dish soap n laundry soap due to request of owners wanting the dish washer ran and towels washed prior to leaving and it wasn’t provided. Some of the light receptacles did not work n the breaker would get over loaded that we had to flip a lot to use the dish washer and garabage disposale. There were only minor things but it was an overall great place to stay. Very open space and super clean! I would come back again!

Dear Saddie! I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay! I do wish you had sent me a quick message letting me know of the issues as we like to resolve them as quickly as possible, when we don’t know we can’t help. I’m not sure what happened with the laundry and dish soap as we do provide them, so I am very sorry about that and will pay closer attention to make sure there is ample supply for our guests. Thank you for staying in our orchard cottage!

Super clean!
This house was awesome for our family of four! It was THE CLEANEST rental place I have ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a lot. Admittedly, my expectations for cleanliness in a rental are probably unrealistic, but when we walked in, we were amazed at how spotless it was. We immediately felt at ease. The house is approximately a 3 minute car ride to the Antrim Creek Nature Preserve. It's a great little beach with very few other people and a cool spot to collect Petoskey stones. Boyne City, Charlevoix and Petoskey are all very easy drives and neat places to visit. The ferry to Mackinac Island was only 1.5 hours away and a visit to the island (including biking around the whole island, lunch, checking out the sights, shopping) was a very easy and doable day trip from the house. The house is relaxing, quiet, and feels remote, but is within 15 minutes' drive of "civilization" as most of us suburbanites would identify with. 1 AC unit in second bedroom, but our kids did not use it. We kept windows open all evening and it was cool at night anyway. I loved having a washer and dryer and full-size everything in the kitchen. No wi-fi, but we had good cell reception which we used for driving directions, restaurant and grocery info. Full disclosure: our cell phone carrier is not top notch, and we experienced mostly poor or non-existent service on the Leelanau peninsula during our visit there immediately preceding our stay here. We used the fire pit once and the kids enjoyed the huge yard. Sara was very easy to deal with and unless you go to the orchard store and ask for her, you'll likely not even see her. Getting the key was a breeze as it is in a lock box on the property...easy in and easy out. Thanks Sara for sharing your place with us! We loved it! Too bad it's a 12 hour drive away from us :(

The home in the orchards worked perfectly as our home base for a wedding at Castle Farms. The views of the orchard and Lake Michigan were fantastic. The home was clean and had everything we needed.
This is our second visit to this beautiful home. Perfect location to get to Traverse City, Torch Lake, Charlevoix, and Mackinaw. Gorgeous setting on the farm. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets right on the farm. Short walk to the bakery with the most delicious fruits, pies, doughnuts, and brownies. We will definitely be staying again!
We were in the area for a wedding. We had 7 adults and 3 cars . The house was clean and perfect for our gathering. We even had other family members stop by for dinner. The house and driveway is spacious enough to allow this. We walked over to the farm market and tasting area- great selection and fun. We even met the owner ! We would like to return again.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Location was perfect but everything else was in bad shape
Property location is good but everything else in bad shape. It's an old property and not well maintained. Curtains are cheap and the beds make noise and poor quality and nobody in the family had a good sleep. Kitchen utensils are in bad shape and I didn't used most of them.

About the host
Hosted by Sara McGuire
Patrick and Sara McGuire are the owners of Royal Farms Inc, a fruit farm that they started in 1996. The farm has grown to include a farm market, bakery, and winery. They are so excited to offer a place on the farm for visitors to enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer.
Why they chose this property
This house/ cottage is located adjacent to the Royal Farms U-Pick orchard and just a short walk through the orchard to the farm market where guests can get fresh baked goods and wine. While also being just a quick drive or nice walk to a Lake Michigan Beach, Antrim Creek Natural Area. Just a moment from US 31 the property is convenient to so many favorite Northern Michigan tourist communities, top notch golf course, fabulous foodie restaurants, and is the first stop on the Petoskey Wine Region Trail.
What makes this property unique
We absolutely love that this cottage captures all the beauty of Northern Michigan, the amazing sunsets overlooking Lake Michigan, expansive farm views, and quiet clear nights. Having our farm market just a short walk gives guests the opportunity to enjoy local foods and wines. A walk through the orchard for your morning scone and coffee, or meat pasty for lunch, or sipping some wines and hard cider all right from the farm.
