The location is great. We really enjoyed our stay. Right on the beach and restaurants are in walking distance.
The rooms could use a fresh coat of paint and silitri repair. We would stay there again.

We were very impressed with this waterfront property. Well equipped kitchen, seating for almost 20! Comfy couch. Felt safe in the area and in unit.

If you like the beach and the sound of waves, this is for you. Bedroom arrangement and beds could have been a bit better but very quaint beachfront Casa. Loved the arched adobe ceilings, the private gated patio and the private sandy area. We enjoyed La Penita and had great times waking the beach then down to Frad’s for great music and drinks. Overall a great experience
We stayed in the Playa Suite for 16 nights and enjoyed everything this place had to offer. The suite was as described and the location was fantastic..located in a quiet neighbourhood where we always felt very safe. Unfortunately there is a six story condo building going up across the street so construction noise during the day. It was an easy beautiful beach walk to town to do some shopping or to grab a bite at one of the many restaurants in town. The Thursday market was also a great little day trip to town and quite impressive! Ana the property manager was so helpful and great with communication .. also speaks very good English. We appreciated that she was also able to arrange for a driver to take us to PV airport on our last day. Thanks again for everything!
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The location was great and Anna, the property manager, was quite responsiveness to our needs and requests. The view from our suite was amazing and we spent much of our time in the courtyard in front of our place. The beds and other furniture were quite comfortable and the place was well equipped. The suite was a bit lacking in cleanliness. We found quite a few dead insects behind furniture and under the beds. The hot water heater quit part way through our stay but Anna arranged to have replaced in a couple of days. We ran out of water briefly but Anna was able to resolve this quickly. The wifi service was fantastic and we were able to get service in the courtyard in front of our suite.

I’ll share a bit with those who may consider staying here. I booked for one month, but only stayed 9 days. I believe this house was once beautiful, however it needs help now. The local house manager is a lovely person and great communicator. That being said I cannot recommend this home. On the first night roaches poured out of the sink, I was able to get them back down the drain. And someone came in the late morning the following day to spray. Overall the photos do not match what you will see. The road and parking area had deteriorated considerably. There is mold and paint cascades down on everything- including you, as you sleep. The outside furniture is rusted and rust is chipping on the deck. The construction next door meant that I was blocked from being able to get into the unit twice - once when I was checking in and one day I was told that the cement trucks would be moved by 3pm, so I came back at 4pm. The trucks didn’t leave until after 8pm.The beach area is not very clean, with the rains and high tide, the sand dune you have to climb down it may be difficult to access the beach.I understand that the construction and the state of the beach is not the responsibility of the home owner but it doesn’t impact the experience of the guest so I am sharing it for your consideration.

Loss of Essential Services
We did not have a good experience during our stay at this property during February.
When we arrived, the guest manager was not present as promised, nor were we able to
contact him. We finally contacted the maid, & after 2 hours were able to gain
access. We found the premises generally in good order, although the kitchen
was not what I would describe as well stocked.
After a few days we experienced an infestation of biting red ants. Both my brother & sister
ended up with bites on hands/arms/legs. Once we bought some vinegar we were able to
keep this issue under control. The beds, sheets and towels provided were decent, however, the
owner failed to provide extra sheets for the couch pull out for my brother. In addition, we
found the furniture in the covered patio area where we spent most of our time to be so
uncomfortable, we ended up buying two chairs in town. We spent most of our time in that room
proximity to ocean was the whole reason we rented this property.
In the 2nd week, we began to experience significant electricity "gray outs" where the current
would repeatedly go on/off, for hours at a time. With no electricity, 1 cannot operate the
stove (which had an electric lighter switch), take a shower, or use the toilet.
Thinking it was temporary we made do as best we could. Eventually we came home after dinner
one night to no electricity for 13 hours; we used our cell phone torches to find our beds &
went to bed quite early. This extended loss of power was a HUGE issue for me, as I couldn't
use my required medical device.
During this time, a worker from the local electrical com came to permanently turn off the
power; there were some issues with billing. The people staying upstairs paid the $650 or so
bill that was in arrears, & the power was turned back on. The upstairs people had been in
touch with the owner & was told to assure us all was taken care of. The next day, the worker
returned & turned off the power again, this time locking it up. A lawyer later arrived,
hired by the owner to resolve the problem. We then experienced no power for 20+ hours.
Again, I was unable to use my medical device during that time, & now our phones/IPad's were dead.
We decided to leave our rental after that night, 15 days early for the loss of essential services;
services we paid for & was now threatening my health. To date we have not received the requested refund despite repeated requests.
It was great. We had the lower unit which wasn't expressed and should be in the add but it worked out perfectly for us. We didnt get the clear ocean views but didnt have to run up and down the stairs all day either. The owner was excellent. Outside of a few small doable things the place was great for the money. I'd rent it again.
La renta de la propiedad es muy buena y su ubicación

About the host
Hosted by Jennifer and Mark
Mark and Jennifer are respectively a film maker and an artist who love to travel. We've become enchanted with Mexico and are turning our beach house into a creatively unique and special place to visit. We're both Canadian. Mark is from Ottawa and Jennifer is Vancouver-born and raised.
Why they chose this property
Location, location, location. The beach, the sunsets, the warm ocean water, the food, and the people are why we bought in La Penita de Jaltemba, and Nayarit.
What makes this property unique
We are right on the beach and have a private, sandy beach front area which is rare in Mexico. We are also in a lovely, authentic and rustic colonia called Pescadores which was established for local fishermen and their families. We are at the end of the street and at the corner of the ocean and a tidal estuary that is a wildlife reserve. We called the property "La Esquina Perezosa" (the lazy corner) and it's a fun story... it has to do with two Volkswagen Westies, Jennifer's childhood, and one of Mark's favourite habits. You'll find our lazy corner peaceful and friendly. Come and visit!
