Super cute place! Great location and close to everything!
Beautiful place to stay
It was a beautiful that my sister and I stayed at for the couple days that we were in St. John’s Newfoundland!! The street is a little busy, but is located in a great area . You are in walking distance of the downtown and shops for gift shopping for yourself and others . You have a great view of the ocean !!
The apartment is the perfect location to visit Saint. John's, you can walk everywhere from it. Beautiful view when you go to the deck. Parking could be a challenge and there is an element of luck. The apartment needs some upgrades i.e. the bathroom and more specifically the toilet. The apartment wasn't the cleanest but it has everything to make a stay comfortable.
Thanks for your review. We are sad to see a 3-star rating as we take great pride in making sure all is in excellent readiness for the guests. We agree to a few upgrades which is ongoing with all of the suites. This is a historic character building and each suite is priced accordingly. As for cleanliness, Ouch. We are going back on our calendar to figure out what might have happened as cleanliness is paramount. Thanks again so much for staying with us. Kathie
Read this review! It's a great place!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Based on price, our expectations were mediocre. But we were incorrect. The property was roomier than expected, and was reflective of the neighbourhood in it's charm and setup.
Kathie was a joy to deal with, and extended an invitation to the dinner theatre that she owns and manages. It did not disappoint and was probably one of the best musical theatres we've seen. The talent was exceptional. The meal was decent, and the venue was good. But again, the talent was exceptional!
The bed was comfy, but not overly so. The linens were clean and well maintained. Towels, TP, paper towels, and tissues were plentiful. We've been at VRBO's before where there is half a roll and you are expected to buy the rest!
Pots, pans, cutlery, plates, and all things required to feel at home were there. I am a bit of a coffee snob, and teh cuisinart coffee machine they provide is one of the better ones you can buy without going crazy. The toaster has seen better days, but then again, so has my own at home.
Location, location, location. You can pretty well walk to almost any interesting point in St. John's, so could get away without a car rental. We had some distance to cover with family, so were very pleased to have a parking pass provided, as we had a car.
There was enough space for 2 people to not be in each others faces after a few days, which is always nice.
The bathroom was sufficient and had all the required amenities. The laundry availability was awesome.
So, why a 4 on location? Well, read carefully here... this is downtown-ish. And any downtown is noisy. Is this noisier than most? No. But if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. My wife is from St. John's, and is a light sleeper, so she knew. Because she was well prepared, there was no issue! Slept well, and enjoyed our stay. But the intersection is a busy one.
Restaurants galore. We recommend the Bagel Cafe (as recommended by Kathie) and went twice. India Gate is another nice one. And of course, Ches's Fish and Chips is a 20 minute walk away.
You can walk to George street, and stumble uphill home! No cabs necessary unless you don't like hills.
Thank you Kathie for a wonderful stay. Your help was invaluable, even to someone who's been here many times, and an old local.
We will be back, and we will stay here again!
July 2019 Stay
- Location convenient, but needed to use our car to get around, although we are active, stores & restaurants not walkable for us. - with the Parking Card, we never had any trouble getting a parking space near the property
- a lot of traffic during the day, but neighbourhood pleasant and quiet at night
Love St. John’s
If you are coming to St. John’s this is the place to stay. It is a large apartment within easy walking distance of everything downtown. George Street is less than 10 minutes walking as is the harbour and Signal Hill. The apartment is fully equipped with all the things you need.
As another positive Kathie runs a dinner theatre under the name of Sprit of Newfoundland. If you stay at her place you get a deal on the tix and it is worth going . We had a great meal and the entertainment was fantastic. It it only about a 5 minute walk.
So if you want to visit The Rock and engage with the fantastic people of Newfoundland this is the place to stay. You will not go wrong.
Dean and Sue
Apartment sits perched over the infamous Jellybean Row. You can easily see Signal Hill and the Narrows. You can even see whales blowing and jumping in the distance. Located in historic Rawlin's Cross, you'll find that feet away are coffee shops, a major City Park (Bannerman), spa, restaurant, corner store, ice cream parlour.
