Welcome to beautiful Cape San Blas FL, located along Florida's Forgotten Coast in the Florida Panhandle--50 miles SE of Panama City between Mexico Beach & St. George Island and Apalachicola. We are located on the North end of the Cape just outside the gates to the State Park (where the water is the clearest).

Barrier Dunes, our gated community, has 2 pools (1 is beach front & 1 heated 4 months of the year), lighted tennis courts, 3 fresh water fishing ponds, playground, boat parking, and pet stations, stone walks and green space throughout. Enjoy the quiet, unspoiled, dog-friendly beaches of the Florida panhandle!

The sugar white sand won't burn your feet, the sand dunes give the setting character, & the gentle gulf waves. The fishing is great, the crabbing & scalloping fun.

The activities abound! From boating, hiking, horseback riding on the beach, beach bonfires, spectacular sunsets (our beaches faces west) and tennis to impromptu socials with the friendly folks that visit Cape San Blas and Barrier Dunes..

All of life becomes casual & fun once you breathe the glorious salt air & let go of what you left behind. Try it & you'll be coming back regularly like most of our guests (see our guest book on our website.
Nestled up to the state park and surrounded by water, it is the perfect place for a nature lovers explorations. Boating, restaurants and other diversions are only minutes away, yet many of our guests never leave Barrier Dunes.

Play tennis, swim in the pools, sunbath on the beach while watching the ever-changing scenes, fish, crab, stir up a card game or read till your heart's content.

Pet lovers are overjoyed at being able to bring along Fido, especially those who like to make an extended stay with us.

We know what it is like not to have what you need when you're on vacation! We try & provide as many of these extras a possible so you are focused on your vacation, family & fun & not on the basics!
We encourage you to catch your own dinner of scallops, crabs or fish & bring along some marshmallows & enjoy more (& a glass of wine) around a beach bonfire or roast hot dogs for dinner!

My goal is to make your stay as good as it gets. To make room for the pooch in your car, we provide every basic essential we can think of (see details on site), but we don't stop there. Imagine a kitchen that is stocked w/spices, crock pot, & crab pot.

Picture yourself not having to pack the car with beach chairs, the boogie board, & beach toys. If you're bringing a younger beach goer...No need to pack the pack and play or high chair! Enjoy a grill on the gulf view deck. Relax to DVD, & games.

Cape San Blas is an amazing beach free from commercialism of other beaches. Beautiful and quiet with the prettiest sunsets I’ve seen. The co do was steps from the beach and close to the grocery/ice cream place in the cape. We are already planning next years stay!

Great place

Great place with multiple views of the gulf. Tons of nice people with advice for local fare. Plenty of room for up to 10 people. We’re planning to return there soon.

Great Fall Break

Wonderful!

Views!! You will be pleasantly surprised by the wonderful views from both decks. Condo was exactly as pictured. Very clean. Great dishes in kitchen, so close to beach. Would definitely stay again. Property management was extremely helpful with updates on a couple of random events ( not in their control) .

Perfect location in Barrier Dunes

My family truly enjoyed every minute of our stay in "Gulf Breeze" on Cape San Blas. I traveled with my husband, two kids (ages 6 and 9), my parents, and our dog. While I thought it would be nice to have tennis and pools available, the weather was so nice and we only used them once or twice. We mostly spent our time on the beach which is beautiful with white sand and pretty water. My parents stayed in Port St. Joe the week before and have consistently noted that Cape San Blas has the pretty sand and water and also has way more shells! We also really enjoyed the turtle pond in Barrier Dunes. Tons of turtles big and tiny come up to say hi. We rented bikes for one day but wish we had them all week because the condos are conveniently located near the State Park and an easy ride to Coneheads where we liked to get Blue Bell ice-cream. We had a fire on the beach twice and loved having our dog with us. Condo was set with everything needed. The kids loved the loft but be prepared to hunch over when up there. Perfect for kids though. The stairs to the loft slightly terrified me only because if kids wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom on the floor below then they need to be able to see. We just left the hallway light on for this reason and it was fine. Also the draws aren't great in the rooms but minor con. We saw quite a few snakes while there too! Kinda freaky, kinda cool! We also saw dolphins almost every day, multiple kinds of crabs, and someone caught a 5'5" shark!! This unit is in a perfect spot, you can still see the water and it is a short walk to the beach but you save some $$$ by not being directly on the beach. Beach cart was great for moving chairs from the carport to the beach each day. Carport is tight but we made it work. Also the beach is more crowded because of the condos but did not bother us as everyone is friendly and still beats the crowds typical for beaches like Ft. Myers. If you want to feel secluded then rent a house. Visit Apalachicola if you need a break from the beach, cute town on the water with lots of fun shops and good restaurants. There are a couple restaurants on the Cape but we only ate out twice the entire week! Catching fish on the beach helped : ) All in all a fantastic vacation and would highly recommend!!

Perfect Florida Getaway

This is the 3rd time I have booked through Cape Escape Vacation Rentals. If you go to Cape San Blas you must book through this company. Wendy is ALWAYS available and will handle any concern immediately. This kind of customer service is hard to find and makes your vacation the dream you have been anticipating. We always book ocean front, but this time we chose ocean view, number 15 - Gulf Breeze. WOW! this unit was a corner unit that was so convenient to the beach or the pool. The decor, the lighting, the deck, everything was perfect. We loved it and will probably book it again next year. Thank you for taking care of us Wendy. You are the best.

The beach was beautiful, the townhouse was clean, spacious & comfy. We plan to return!

This was our first year staying on "the forgotten coast", we certainly hope it stays that way. The beach is absolutely beautiful, clear water and very uncrowded beach almost like having a private beach. We have been vacationing along the gulf coast for over 25 years this year was our very favorite .From the very first contact Wendy made the planning for our vacation easy responding promptly to our questions. The pictures on the website are very accurate in representing the town home, community and beach. The townhouse was clean, spacious and comfortable. When we vacation we love to buy fresh seafood cook in the evenings. The kitchen in is an ideal place for cooking as it is spacious and well equipped. We plan to return next year and for many more! Thank you Wendy, for making this the best vacation on the gulf ever!!

Greatest Family Getaway we have know....We Will Definitely Be Coming Back!

This was our second consecutive year to Cape San Blas via the Barrier Dunes and booking through Wendy. This year like last was a blast. We did a whole lot less this year as far as the area attractions are concerned. We brought most everything we needed with us and didn’t get out of the house too much. It rained a lot. That did not keep us from the beach however. We had a blast the entire time. Wendy and Soni responded to every question and concern we had while we were there and they did so with a quickness. We will definitely be coming back. We brought our two Border Collies with us and they had an absolute scream and never wanted to leave the beach. The word “beach” is now solidified in their minds with the Barrier Dunes at Cape San Blas. My 3-year-old son couldn’t get enough of any of it. Between the pool, the beach itself, and the other kids there tooling around in the sand and surf he was in bliss. It truly is one of the greatest family getaways we have known. The only drawback is that the time goes by way too quickly in the Cape. We will try and amend that on our next pass with a much longer stay!

Peaceful getaway just a few steps from the beach

This is our second time staying in Barrier Dunes and the first in this unit. The owner is very easy to deal with. All communications I sent to her were responded to very quickly and satisfactorily. The unit itself, 555, is nicely stocked with everything you need to get your beach visit started - even coffee, sugar, and creamer! Beach chairs are provided, which is a huge plus to me - one less thing to haul from home! My favorite thing about Barrier Dunes, and Cape San Blas, is that they are pet friendly! We love taking our dogs to the beach, instead of having to board them! There are pet stations situated conveniently throughout the property with plenty of garbage cans. You will be surprised how clean this pet friendly destination is! Can't wait til our next trip to Barrier Dunes!
