About this property

Gorgeous Garden Bungalow in Sierra Madre available May 1, 2024, 30 day minimum

**See calendar for availability **
***30 night minimum (city ordinance)***
****non-smoking property****

Enjoy a charming, beautifully-furnished mountain-view bungalow with a private tranquil garden. Dine under olive or fig trees (two outdoor dining areas); relax on the sunny back patio or in the shade of the camphor tree. Cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen. Wake to mountain views. Enjoy friendly neighbors and shy deer. Walk to great restaurants and shops in "downtown" Sierra Madre. Hop on the nearby 210 for Old Town Pasadena, Huntington Library, CalTech, JPL, and more; take the Gold Line to LA.

You'll have a queen bed, an armoire and closet for plenty of storage. The retro bathroom offers a shower over tub, obviously a toilet, sink with lots of counter space, and a medicine cabinet for all your necessities.

The kitchen has loads of counter space, plenty of pots, pans, and cooking implements, dishes and glassware that will make meal prep easy. A microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, stove, and of course a sink are all there, too. You're welcome to use herbs and spices that are on hand.

The living room is furnished with comfortable Arts & Crafts furniture and accessories, wifi and TV with Roku, and a well-stocked bookcase. It's totally private, yet has an expansive view of the San Gabriel Mountains. Sitting at the dining table is almost like being outside. It's a lovely place to eat or to work, if you can tear yourself from the view of the mountains, watching hikers on Mt Wilson Trail, following soaring eagles or a raucous flock of green parrots.

This is a little piece of paradise in a wonderful community!

Wonderful home away from home!
We really enjoyed everything about our stay here. The cottage and gardens are lovely as is the town of Sierra Madre. We loved walking around the neighborhood and hiking the nearby mountain trails. And Tanya has supplied her cottage with everything one might need while staying there. Thank you Tanya for sharing such a wonderful place!

Restful Place in Sierra Madre
We stayed at Tanya’s place for three months. The setting could not have been better. The house is extremely clean and the furnishings are over the top. Tanya was very responsive to our every need. We would rent this place again in a heartbeat!

A little gem in Sierra Madre!
The house is surrounded by beautiful landscaping with gorgeous mountain views from the dining room window, as well as from the bedroom. Tanya was always quick to respond to any questions we had. The neighborhood is very quiet. We had a wonderful stay.

California born and bred, I moved to southern California 16 years ago to be a grandma. Retired landscape designer. I love travel, being with friends old and new, gardening, reading, nature, walking or hiking, volunteer work (Pasadena Playhouse, Gamble House), most animals, cooking & eating! I also find myself renovating funky old houses, including this one, which was a very sad derelict that I've turned (with lots of help!) into a yummy little jewel.

Why they chose this property

Sierra Madre is a small town adjacent to trendy Pasadena & bustling LA, nestled up against the San Gabriel Mountains, which you'll see from all the north-facing windows! I gutted the house and started over (except the built-in closets & the bathroom), so it's a very comfortable Arts & Crafts style home (tho not an A&C bungalow). The garden, all new except for the trees, is designed for maximum outdoor living, which is great year round here. Tiny as the garden is, you can enjoy 3 small patios and a deck. The neighborhood is super-friendly; we watch out for each other, and help each other out.

It's a perfect town for walking--whether into "downtown" for errands (post office, drug store, Taylor's Market for a fantastic butcher shop, Arnold's old fashioned hardware store, or shopping the boutiques or art center), or for an al fresco meal in one of many restaurants. Hang out at Beantown, take a leisurely stop at the pub, stop by Mother Moo's Creamery for AMAZING ice cream, or simply stroll through town to check out charming houses and gardens--and perhaps meet the Vietnamese pot-bellied pig. Head into the canyon for delicious meals at Mary's Market , or explore some of the tiny streets and "secret" paths. Maybe walk 5 minutes to Mt Wilson trail for a hike (1.5 -7.5 miles each way!) , or choose Bailey Canyon for another hike.

Santa Anita Racetrack, the Arboretum & Santa Anita Mall are minutes away. In addition to their various garden areas, the Arboretum offers summer Pops concerts. Huntington library, museums, and botanical gardens are just a few minutes farther.

Nearby Pasadena offers trendy restaurants, bars, cafes, & shops, several movie theaters, famous Pasadena Playhouse, Boston Court theater, museums, Gamble House, flea markets at the Rose Bowl & Pasadena City College, to name a few of the attractions.

Sierra Madre Villa and Arcadia Metro stations provides free parking for the Gold Line, which takes you to Union Station in downtown LA.
