House was clean and decorated with roses in and out on the property to match the name rose cottage. Beautiful mountain views and quiet neighborhood. Host was available when questions came up. I would definitely book again for next year when we return.
The Rose Cottage was lovely and Sierra Madre is so charming. The unit was spotless, the beds were comfortable, and it had everything we needed for our stay. It’s a quick drive to the downtown shops and restaurants (or a nice walk if you don’t mind climbing the hill to get back) and there are plenty of choices in town. We’re looking forward to our next trip.
We were traveling for leisure and business. Our stay here made both possible while feeling right at home. We especially enjoyed the natural light, neighborhood, and relaxing back yard.
The beautiful Rose Cottage was the perfect base for our visit to Sierra Madre and the surrounding area. It had everything we needed and we would certainly recommend it to family and friends.
We came out to LA and were so charmed by the Rose Cottage. Every little detail was adorable and hospitable and stylish :) we will definitely stay here again when we come back!
A beautiful property that was very clean and had all the amenities we wanted. We stayed here for almost a week with our 2 kids while visiting family in the area and had a great stay. We loved the location and felt safe walking in the neighborhood and to the downtown area. Loved having the washer and dryer available as well! Definitely would stay here again the next time we are in town!
The Rose Cottage is clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. We love Sierra Madre, and it’s location makes it easy to get to LA and other areas in SoCal. Perfect!
The property is clean and comfortable, and in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen is well-appointed with everything you need to prepare simple meals and even Christmas cookies. We love Sierra Madre and look forward to our next visit.
Our stay at Rose Cottage was wonderful. It was such a charming, clean, well appointed and artistic retreat…plus, the location was great. It truly was a”home” away from home. Kim and Justin were perfect hosts.
My cousin and I had a great time! Check in was easy, house equipped with everything we needed! Adorable home. Within walking distance to downtown Sierra Madre, coffee shops, breakfast, and Taylor’s market. Thank you!!!
Our return to Rose Cottage was just as wonderful as our first stay 2 years ago. Everything is so pretty, comfortable, and well maintained. We love the neighborhood and location with mountain views. Sierra Madre is a little oasis from all the hustle & bustle of the LA area. We visit family in LA every 1-2 years and this will continue to be our 1st choice for home base.
This beautifully decorated cottage is a rose lovers dream. Nestled at the foot of the Sierra Madre mountains, it provides a lovely experience in lodging with top of the line appliances and amenities. Both indoors and out it is a memorable way to experience Southern California.

We are so glad you had a comfortable stay! Please visit us again! Thank you!!
The Rose Cottage has become our home away from home when we visit our family in the LA area. Always clean, comfortable, and convenient. Sierra Madre has plenty of restaurants and coffee shops, all within walking distance if you don’t mind hills. If you don’t feel like hiking there’s plenty of public parking downtown.
This cottage is picture perfect! Fit our family needs without hustle and bustle of the city. Very close to the Metro which made it hassle free from driving ourselves into LA and easy to travel to anything we wanted to see in Pasadena. Kitchen was fully stocked. The neighborhood is quaint, quiet, and safe if you are a runner or walker.

Thank you for your wonderful review! I’m glad you had a great stay and enjoyed California! Safe travels home.
We spent a week at the Rose Cottage and could not have found a more perfect place for four people. It was impeccable; very clean and beautifully decorated. Kim and Justin have thought of everything their guests could possibly need. We made many meals in the well-stocked kitchen. The appliances are great quality and the washer and dryer are the best we have ever found in a rental. The outdoor space is very inviting and peaceful. We had a great time playing ping-pong; wonderful entertainment. Would definitely return as this is a great place to relax in a wonderful town!

Glad you all had a wonderful stay! Hope to see you again!
All good except for the bed in first bedroom squeaked terribly. The ping pong table was dirty and difficult to play on because it was at a bad angle and floor was uneven. Disappointing. Pictures are deceiving. The house itself was beautiful. We did enjoy our stay.

Nice to know you enjoyed the home. I will check on the “squeaky” bed. As far as the ping pong table in the 1940’s garage… yes the newly refurbished and newly painted garage has a floor that is a bit uneven and it would take about 30 seconds to dust the table off. We try to keep it clean but it is in a garage. We’ve never had a complaint about the ping pong table… it’s just a bonus added if someone is interested in playing- not a main feature of the home …
We had the honor and pleasure to stay at Rose Cottage for over a month while our own home was under construction.
Justin and Kim were gracious hosts and Rose Cottage is beautiful and comfortable. I'm not
sure I can express how much we loved staying there.
This place had everything we needed to live comfortably. Kim replenished supplies as needed. Washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, spices, some dry goods, dishware galore, Keirig machine, electric kettle, big mugs, bath soap, make up remover, Q tips, hair dryer, first aid kit, bubble bath, even cozy blankets to curl up with. They thought of everything.
The beds are very comfortable and have luxurious, high end linens that feel like you're sleeping on a cloud. In fact, we were impressed with the high quality of everything, including the bath towels.
We will always have fond memories of Rose Cottage and hope to stay again soon.
Enjoy your stay...we sure did!

Property and Location are Wonderful
The previous reviews accurately detail the pleasant accommodations. We loved the city and surrounding area. Walked from the cottage to downtown several times.
However there were negative aspects of our visit. The first one was the lack of information provided for us to access the cottage. I had received an email from VRBO a few days before our visit. The subject was "Here are the keys to your trip!" So we assumed the entry instructions were included. When we arrived at the property after a two hour traffic slog from LAX I opened the email. The email advised that "The host hasn't provided arrival information yet. For the most up-to-date info, contact the property manager directly."
So I figured no problem I would just access the property manager information through the VRBO app. Apparently there are long standing problems with the VRBO app and IOS devices. We repeatedly attempted to access the app while using cell service while standing in the property driveway. We failed.
After 15 minutes of trying we left and called the VRBO customer service number. They eventually put us in touch with the property manager. We also determined we could use the app with Wi-Fi we later accessed in town.
Another first was the required $1750 security deposit. The VRBO site indicates $250? I asked the property manager why ours was so high. I did not receive an answer.

I apologize for the VRBO problems. We have never had that happen before. Our direct phone number was provided to you on the app and we live right next door. Usually we communicate through the app with our guests and give the front door code. We have also never had a problem with the damage deposit- that is just the VRBO standard practice. Again I apologize for any inconvenience and it does sound like you had a great stay at Rose Cottage.

My husband, Justin , and I have lived here for 22 years in our historical victorian home. We also own the property directly in back which includes Rose Cottage and the house next to it which is Lavender Cottage (another short term rental). We love to meet people. My husband and I are both artists and enjoy beauty. Justin is a photographer as well. We love to travel but are quite happy on our property :) We have designed everything to feel like we are on vacation in the south of France :) I think you'll feel that way too. Rose Cottage is an extension of who we are and has great attention to detail. We welcome you!
Why they chose this property
Rose Cottage is newly renovated and is on a quiet and beautiful residential street just a short walk away for town and even closer to Mt Wilson hiking trails. Our town has it all yet we are a few miles away from Pasadena, Arcadia and Monrovia. Downtown is just a 20 min freeway drive away also.
What makes this property unique
Peaceful and beautiful setting. Mountain views. Bright and airy cottage feel. Nicely decorated in a shabby chic beach style.
