About this property

Fun adventures for you at The Lodge on Oakland Bay!

Home is having main bath remodeled for easier handicap access.
Work is taking longer than expected, so I have blocked into May but might be done before this. Send me a message if interested.

Rates are for 6 people only, additional charges of $25 per person over 6 people.

$200 non refundable pet fee.

Only a few steps down from 1 car garage & parking area to a patio setting and garden area.

Comfortably can sleep 6-8. There is a potential of sleeping 12 at this home with water restrictions because of septic system. Additional charges for over 6 people apply. So please contact me for special arrangements before booking.

Enter into a level home with 3 bedrooms upstairs, & 1 bath. Daylight basement has another bath and bedroom.

The Living room features a wood stove & wraps around to the dining area. The table can fit 10 maybe squeeze in 12 people.

And than to a large kitchen that is packed with all types of cooking gadgets, wine glasses & dishes of all kinds. Some cooking supplies are there. Coffee supplied but bring your favorite K-cups. Food processors, blenders, many types of pots & pans, baking supplies, juicer, toaster, bagel toaster, rice cooker, crock pots (sm. large, triple sm, triple large) eating and cooking utensils and a lot more. Even extra paper plates and cups.

The highlight of upstairs is the sunroom and view.

I put in a high top table. You might be able to squeeze in 8 people to play all the card games that are located on rolling cabinet.

There are 2 click it couches that drop back like a recliner all the way to flat. When put together it would be almost a King bed! Bedding in the ottomans for this area.

Smoking only outside on the deck or patios please.

Deck is small but perfect to enjoy the view or try the telescope for extra fun. Bring your binoculars, there have been Killer Whales here but I have never been home to see them yet. Eagles, seals, sea birds, and jumping fish are always there.

Lower level is a fun area filled with craft table and crafts for those rainy days. I have a Lazy Boy sleep sofa for additional sleeping area. Plus the extra kitchenette

Kitchenette, great place for fixing the picnics & barbeque area. Extra kitchen always help and the outdoor larger kettles are here. Large crab pots and smokers in garage.

The lower bath has small shower.

Just past the bath in the lower level is an extra bedroom that sleeps one.

The daylight basement opens to a covered porch with charcoal grill (charcoal & grill supplies to use are there)

Located here is also many rubber boots, life preservers, and rain gear for use. I have many sizes but no guarantees they will fit all your needs.

Steps to the right lead you back up to the upper level and outdoor patio with propane grill (will try to keep some propane on hand). Next to this is a small picnic table for extra seating.

The back yard has beautiful pond and man made creek. Just a small enough area to enjoy a game of croquet. Many other fun toys will be under deck to use too.

YOU PICK GARDENS, I have blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, tomatoes, and other vegies when in season. Radishes, pea pods, strawberries there now! Hydroponic lettuce, and herbs everywhere for use. PLEASE ONLY for use at home, remember I will have other guests who will want to enjoy the crops too.

Hay bale gardens not started yet but will be planted soon with squash and pumpkins.

Clams and oysters but not in the months with an "R" in them. In season you can enjoy at the home for small usage only, my clam beds are leased. But I can usually find a place to get some for a meal.

Nice Place
House was nice. The owner is in the middle of upgrading a few things, but everything worked and she is very responsive and friendly. We would dependently say here again.

Amazing and More
I saw the review that there was only 1 roll of paper. To that person, you didn't look. ANYTHING and everything is already there. We forgot syrup for our pancakes, no running to store. it was already there. There was everything you need, even clothes. She had kites! We didn't need a lot. The dogs had great fun in the ocean and exploring the yard. If you have a beagle not a great place for you; however, everyone else the dogs love smelling all the stuff in the yard and on our walks. The sun deck was where we spent a lot of time. Nice breeze, see it all and pups on the couch and floor. JC is so lovely! The Neighbors were friendly and giving advice. There are grocery stores near by, but you won't likely need them. It was fun playing in the water and seeing the sea otter and seals. JC called to tell us to see an Orca, but we misseed it. I really hope we get to go again soon.

Shelton stay
We had a quick trip to this home. The view from the home is beautiful, and JC is so communicative and made sure we had any questions answered. She also very generously told us we could check in any time and check out anytime. We felt like we had a lot of flexibility which was very nice. She is the best host I’ve interacted with by far! While JC is very nice, the house itself is the reason I’m leaving 3 stars. The house is very full of things - and felt cluttered to us. We also noticed the water has a funny smell and didn’t feel great showering in it. One of the beds as well was very lumpy - it was difficult to sleep on. The rest of the beds were comfortable. The kitchen had lots of tools and pots and pans to cook with. We found a syringe on top of the fridge - it looked like an insulin syringe that someone left behind. The coffee pot also had old coffee in it. We cleaned it with vinegar which was available in the kitchen. It just made us feel like maybe it wasn’t cleaned as thoroughly as it could be. Overall the house was close to family which is what we needed. I think it would be great for a family with all the crafts available. Just not quite what we expected from reading all the other reviews.

Great place for large group
We had 6 people in our group and the house easily accommodated us. We did not feel like we were squished. JC was a great and thoughtful host and communicated so well. She really made me feel that it was important to her that out stay was comfortable and that we had everything we needed. The house has everything you could possibly need or needed and didn’t know you needed . Plenty of dishes and utensils for large groups. We were able to use the kayaks while we were there. There is even a craft area that JC made sure to show my 11 yo daughter :). The bed I slept in was fine but my other guest didn’t think they were very comfortable. The WiFi is not great. We couldn’t use our phones when in the bedrooms and when using the streaming services on the t.v’s to watch movies, the movies would stop and load every few minutes. The telescope, mentioned in the description, was unfortunately broken. A couple people from my group did get to see some otters enjoying their breakfast of clams and we did find some hermit crabs while walking the beach. This isn’t a beach where you can bring a towel and lay it down kind of beach. The tide brings the water all the way to the house edge and when it goes out is it a beach of rocks, clams and oysters. JC offered to show us how to dig clams! Overall it was a nice vacation. Thank you JC for a lovely stay :)

Great locations, extremely accommodating hostess
This home was perfectly suited to our needs. It is very close to downtown Shelton and restaurants while being beautifully situated along Oakland Bay. My siblings and I convened here from California and Oregon to assist aging parents with assorted projects. Sadly, we weren’t able to enjoy the property during the daytime or partake in any waterfront adventures, but we sure did enjoy the view in the evenings as we decompressed from our long days of hard work. The vegetable garden/s KC has cultivated are very impressive and the beautiful bowl of produce freshly picked and left for our use was a very special touch. A couple of the beds have seen better years, but we were all able to find a spot to sleep comfortably. KC was extremely responsive and helpful, though we were largely self-sufficient given that we were familiar with the area and have several family members who live nearby.

I bought this home because it was adjacent to my home. I have rented it all this time and my first renter was a gardener & landscaper and there for many, many years. The last couple of years the renters were not the best gardeners. The gardens are looking good and more coming in way of fresh vegetables and fruit when in season. I am also a license Real Estate managing broker with RE/MAX Top Executives in Shelton. And this is an equal housing home.

The original bulk head fell in about 7 years ago and it was rebuilt with natural rock. The landscaping here has taken me time to redo, trying to do a little every year and turn it all into vegetable gardens terracing down to the bulkhead.

I have a survival of the fittest gardens and working with straw bale gardening, hydroponics, fish hydroponics, and raise beds. There is even a working "worm farm", not for fishing but for the "black gold" for your vegies! Green houses at my home and hopefully will have one here next winter too.

Why they chose this property

There is all types of outdoor items to enjoy. I have extra rubber boots, life preservers, and coats of all sizes to use! I try to keep wood for beach fires on the bulkhead to use. There are extra grills too. 2 charcoal and one large propane. I try to keep items stocked so you don't have to worry.

What makes this property unique

I love Oakland Bay and the Shelton area. It is the central location to do all the things I love. Hiking, fishing, hunting, crabbing, boating, and day trips that can bring you to so many unique adventures.
